In Kyrgyzstan wild mountains 🚵🏾♂️🚵🏾♂️
How many takes did it take him to say "strap on" without laughing? He definitely smirks in the video.
I don’t get it
Why is it funny
@@eamonlee159 You're too young.
Too late , I realised...
Maybe letting on more about his antics in the bedroom than he meant to. 😳
Blakes got a new strap on, I bet Doddy's pleased......
Give it a few years and this will be the gravel bike of the future.
Its actually so annoying 😂 they're raving about suspension seat posts and suspension stems like it's the future!!! 😭😂
turntomax “those who do not learn from history, are doomed to repeat it.”
That's where they're heading.
Then what is a XC bike gonna be like in the future if this is gonna become the next gravel bike..?
I already do
I bike pack with a full suspension mountain bike all the time
And according to Google maps
For only 5 years that I've had my cell phone and remember that's only from the cell phone not since the full 20 years that I've had that according to Google 4.5 x to the Moon and back
Again don't forget all the other years
I'm pleased you put this vid up too! I've been eyeing up racks to go on my 29er, because I'm doing some decent distances with ruck sack and it's taking it's toll on my back hahaha
Good to have for a nice weekend getaway!
Cant believe the timing of this.. just bought a front tetrarack because I'm prepping for a 3 day, 2 night ride to do the whole North Downs Way in SE England on a modded 15 year old GT Avalanche. Thanks GMBN for the very helpful, and unbelievably relevant (almost personalised) tips and compo!
You're welcome, sounds like an awesome trip, you'll have so much fun!
GT Avalanche? That was my 2nd ever mountain bike, after I got rid if my Silver Fox (by Muddy Fox) steel shed on wheels. 👍
@@hermanmunster3358 Nice! I've had it from new (in 2005) and for the longest time was an Aluminium shed on wheels..but it does least have 27.5" wheels, 3x9 drive, disk brakes, 100mm forks, a candy red respray and some custom decals. Amazing the level of life you can breathe in to an old bike with bits from other bikes that you've upgraded. Tinker-level at max!
I have no idea at all why I can't bring myself to sell it.. although I doubt I'd get much for it now.
@@SteelR4t keep it mate, it's a classic 👍
@@hermanmunster3358 .. even though the only original bits on it are the frame and front mech 😂
F=120 Newton (12kg max), vector r = 40cm 48 Nm, do i get guarantee from canyon or topeak on my carbon bike?
That's a very clever system to strap a rack on your bike, nice!
This is freaking awesome, overlanding with a bike.... really cool
Ahh yes, I love myself a god strap on
🤣
Pretty certain Topeak say these aren’t suitable for Carbon Seat Stays...
Agree. That was my first comment.
i think it's not realy OK to alloy ones neither
@@1111santa1111 They only say "*TetraRack is not recommended for carbon forks and seat stays" at the website.
Do you have any negative experience with alloy and racks like those?
yeah, it says that on their website, but im pretty sure at least one of the bikes in the tetrarack promo video is carbon, so its probably fine as long as you dont overtighten
@@1111santa1111 alloy should be fine
Neil will be really impressed with the bell! 😂
Not been yet but really want to. Started getting bits & pieces. 29+ wheels set for my fat bike. Got a Beerbabe frame bag at Xmas & the Mrs just got my a cheap seat bag to try out. Lots to buy yet but its a start.
Aeropress too! You know your coffee stuff Blake :)
Nice. Strap this thing to carbon seat stays. Best idea ever.
Excellent!
Quick release bags, easy to steal!
been doing XC riding here in Bedforshire and im planning to do bike packing next year, still saving money for a new bike this is a great idea for bikepacking set up
Have fun!
He said strap on without even a smirk.
What does that mean
@@eamonlee159 You should probably Google it, but not on a work or your parents computer.
Nice set up, might have gone with a water filter to minimise litres carried up the hills. Hammock in a cider orchard is the dream!
Cool I would go from Krakow (Poland) to Narwik (Norway) on my NS RAG bike. For this trip I would need a full set. The light version would be the only desert in Europe with it's beautiful eagle's nest track.... 😴💭
Wow so nice mtb 😍😍
He definitely got my attention when he said „it’s not a bolt on, it’s a strap on“ 😂😂🙈
Mooooorrrreee!! Videos!!!! Like!!!! This!!!! Bikepacking the dream
Thanks Richard! Great to hear you enjoyed it
The rear rack would be very handy for carrying a spare Shimano ebike battery for those long days in the hills/mountains!
Definitely a good use for it!
You could put a solar battery pack on the back of your bike so your getting electricity while your cycling in the sun
Would not ride with the rear setup. Not the best idea to strap/clamp on carbon and even worse, to provide vertical forces where carbon is engineered with horizontal forces in mind. I love the fork rack and would ride it anywhere away of civilization😊
Also bad idea on full sus bike.
@@KandiKlover He even explicitly mentions hardtail as a requirement, so I was confused the entire video, this cannot be safe for all but trivial loads
I hate the idea of putting a bike rack on the bike but I have to admit I also hate carrying a backpack 🤣 especially when it's hot! So think I'm going to get one of these this summer and do an epic 😁
Mahalo my dudes 😎, what was that pump 🤙
Does that rack go ok with carbon seatstays? I’m asking because Topeak says it’s not recommended to carbon frames.
Not recommended for carbon seat stays! And that's from Topeak's own website. Load these up with 12kg on a light weight carbon XC bike and the first small drop or heavy compression and the frame will shatter. I know these guys need to pump us daily with adverts but you'd expect they would not give us warranty voiding frame breaking advice.
Product they don’t. They show you how they do it, it is your own responibility to check any kind Of Warranty.
Yep. Stupid to do it even without the warning.
I would like to buy this equipment for my vacation this summer.
But with the micro vibrations caused by the terrain, I'm afraid that the device will slide down and finally touch the wheel. Did you have this problem.
Any hazard clamping the rear rack to small carbon tubing?
Hi... Can you install the rear tetrapack at same time with the sks speedrockers mudguards?
Where would you ride with the Topeak Tetrarack?
Lejog off road on my roscoe 8 with mudguards!
In Germany fathers day is basically national bicycle day. I´d probably wanna use it to cater for the right amount of hydration on this high faluting trip. ✌
Honestly- I have a few hiking routes in mind, that have 4+ stages. I can't deny that there's a slight temptation to do these start to finish some day.
Nice. I couldn't tell -- is the front load suspended? That's one thing that would make me want an inverted fork. Also, I would really like bags that aren't boring old black -- hard to find contents, and cooks everything in the sun.
good way to break your "thin" carbon seatstays?
The Lake District
Why is it so hard to order from Topeak online site. I have to find a store near me but there isn't one. If it's available for order and shipping that would be great.
Recently bought the Tetrarack M1 + M2 nice fit to the Bike, shame though bought th MTX Bags they are a sloppy fit and rattle when i am on the move
what about the max weigth max 7 kg i front and 9 in rear? have you try to put more weigth on it ?
What set up do you prefere Blake? Racks? or saddle and frame bags? I was all for getting saddle and frame bags but just wandering the difference is between the two set ups 👍😎
Hi is it possible to use this side pannier drybag together with top mtx bag. Is there enough space?
Does it come with the little tightening tool.
#GMBN I do need them! - if everything goes well ill buy a new bike! Giant Trance 2 - so I would really need this for bikepacking!
Before buying that check the vitus vr or something like that
Great video. What about carbon ? Thanks
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I wish it was the bike lmao
Gmbn is the best
Thanks!
Vittoria - BARZO!
Got excited after watching this so off I went on t'internet to buy.... not in stock in the UK :(
Vittoria Bernanzo? Blaaaaaaaaaaaaaakeeeeeee! Now you owe me a pair, you're busted mate! :D
I assume on the giveaway it is asking for the maximum load of the tetrarack M2 not the M1 since it's the M2 that's going to be won?
Did they ever announce the winners of the Topeak TetraRack M2 and bags?
What clipless shoes does Blake use for these trips?
I would fit these cool Topeak Tetrarack to my Scott Scale 910 and take a part Road, Gravel, Cross Country (basically all terrain) and ride from Rainham in Essex to St Osyths Point Clear Bay (which is approx 70 miles) to a fantastic little camping site “The Orchards” on a hill overlooking the bay. I would need front and back setup like on the Canyon in the video, to accommodate suitable camping gear, food inc spam (of course), clothes, bike equipment (spare tyre, inners ,pump & a multi tool).
#kitchensinkoptionable
Sounds like a great trip! 🏕
The tyres are Barzo's, not Banzo's 😁 I thought the Scrumpy came later lol.
Strap on. Hehe
Sorry Blake what are those tyres called? 😂 I love the little Blake-isms and those Topeak racks look the biz!
Vittoria Brrrrrrrr-Nan-ZO )))) Think these are some GCN special edition Barzo tires with some posh nano particles )))))
Can it carry passenger?...like...just to go for a tea or something like that
And day rides with my friends
I would put the bags on our new tandem and ride across Florida.
Sounds like a great trip!
you state in the video that the back holds 20 litres and that comes to 20kg but yet there is no 20kg answer for the competition so did you get it right or are they asking for the weight each bag holds?
Check out the Topeak website for more information Alan, 20litres doesn't always mean 20kg :)
@@gmbntech i know the max weight as i researched it but if you convert 20 litres in google or bing it equates to 20kg and that is over the max weight
alan blair only if you for some reason fill the whole bag up with water
Why is it always Neil's bike/fork/etc when Blake goes somewhere? =)
What hammock was Blake using?
Strap on....😆
#GNBN I would love to win this so I can use these to bike pack around the South Island of NZ now that we have move out of lockdown. Pretty please!
When I go on holiday
That's no Tripod Blake... that's a GorillaPod :-) (Doddy has my details if you want any more).
@GMBN Tech... I think Blake has dropped in one to many times! Strapping racks on to a light weight carbon seat stays is an engineering no-no.
What did the bike and all the kit weigh?
we'll have to ask Blake carol :)
You didn't bring back a bottle of cider for your wife?
Thanks for the details on carrying your camera gear on your bike - that's something I've wanted to do for a while, but I've been concerned about crashing (camera gear is worth more than the bike).
i’ve been using a strap on for years, but a bolt on sounds scary
Each to their own jack, no judgments here :)
How many Canyon bikes does Neil have?
Why on earth doesn´t those have integrated mudguards?
Strap on you say
I watched twice never see a Bikepacking setup just tradition cycle touring setup .. maybe next time
Hi Blake. If I enter the competition to win the bike rack set up, do I get a pair of your boxers thrown in?
Bear in mind that I am totally skint, due to upgrading every part on my Genesis Core Hard Tail, so have no money left to buy new underwear for when I'm off the bike.
Thanks buddy 😉👍
Hoping to win this bags and racks. A great help for a bike-to-work teacher here from the Philippines. Please notice me guys....
Modules, paperworks and students' works and stuff will sit perfectly on those bags...
I never saw who won this giveaway. Did they ever tell?
Future gravel bike in 2025.
Bikebacking on full-sus? Way to go!
But alas, it's of course again one of these systems whose design doesn't make sense at all for it. Both front and rear baggage 100% _unsprung_ mass? You get all the bob, none of the damping. I'd rather use a gravel bike then.
A fully-sprung luggage rack makes for an _awesome_ riding experience on long rides (plus, it doesn't snap your seatstays when you hit a kerb). About time some manufacturer at last produces that in series.
I don’t get your comment mate, front is on the forks below sus - so unsprung.
However back is on the stays and sprung.
Can you clarify what you meant (for my eduction!). Tx.
@@charlesrobinson6444 the rear rack goes up when the suspension compresses, that's how it's _unsprung_. From the POV of the bike of course that's “sprung” in the sense of _movable_, just like the fork lower legs move relative to the bike, but what matters is whether it's movable relative to the wheels.
Ok, it's maybe not quite 100% unsprung because the chainstays also tilt down during compression. This might help if the mass were placed further to the front, but as it is actually pretty centered on the rear wheel, it's still at least ≈80% unsprung.
@@leftaroundabout get a life
I KIND OF have a feeling you tried to put all the sponsored gear on this rather than make your ideal bike packing setup haha. If i'm going to have these bags I'd rather use a gravel bike.. on a mtb, yeah no..
Hi!
Its a bolt on, not a "Strap ON" that's what she said.........
Me and my little brothers do bike packing we travel everywhere litter everywhere and our bikes gets heavy bicuase we have bags on the bikes and a big camping backpack loded with lots of stuff. And we even pull trailers where we can sleep but not just any trailers we have camper bike trailers
Nice!
Not for carbon frames
What a load of tosh. Looks like GMBN is turning into the mountain bike shopping channel
Sorry you feel that way Peter, we're really lucky to have the support of some great partners which help bring you these videos for free. You don't have to like every video, but we do appreciate the support and welcome all feedback :)
I like you.
oh hi yall first ppl
A strap on?
for your DH bike
What a stupid way to screw up the handling on a full suss bike. Adding luggage to the bikes unsprung weight is the worst way to mess up its handling. Its a shame Tubus stopped making the Swing front rack and Marzochi stopped making forks for it.
Good point, but you can account for it in the suspension setup and should be able to still have a great ride - although we agree, front racks are best :)
Quite a lot of added unsuspended weight. Don't think it's great for full suspension bike
Great video but I’d like to see GNBN get away from single use water bottles. “Just saying”
Very fair point Andrew, we try to be as eco friendly as we can, but sometimes in this pandemic we have to get water from different sources to be safe and responsible.
First 🤟🏻🤟🏻
Third
Little bit stupid to not use mud guards.
First
There is an issue with the comp so nobody should enter!
The tetrarack comes in different sizes and the comp isnt clear which rack its asking about and I'm not sure Blake makes it clear either and I'm not watching the video again.
So for clarity,
R2 = 9kg
M1 = 10kg
M2 =12kg
Could gmbn make it clear which one you asking about?
I assume its m1 or m2.
He said at the beginning that's its an m2 on the rear and m1 up front
At 4:20 he explains it all. Giving away the M2
Yes it is the M2 we are giving away
Why did you bring 2 hammocks? That makes no sense to me.
i think maybe the smaller thing could be something like a hammock cover or extra rope
One to sleep in, and the other to cradle his balls 🤗
Your not white if you don’t have topeak lol 😂
that topeak setup really hurts my MTB eyes.
