hahah what a throwback! I'm still in the Counter-Strike Pro Mod's steam group. I was really hopefully it would become nothing, but it never materialized
I left the group when cs2 released
CS:S Promod was crazy to learn, but also crazy fun. Miss it.

CSPromod was still somehow active by the end 2013, I remember playing it and 2-3 players were online in deathmatch games but what actually killed the game was the SteamPipe update because it broke the mod and it was a hassle to get it to work.
Despite all of that, a modified standalone version of the mod was released that did not require Steam and it was just launch and play with bots. The download link is long gone but thankfully I still have it stored.

5:20 are you sure the community content still defines CS in 2024? CS2 literally has no community servers with custom maps apart from Russian fake servers. No fy, gun game, minigame or just custom maps in general, even though there's plenty on the workshop.
I had a guy commenting that people don't play for fun anymore but only to compete...

@@yeetskie It doesn't. 10 months later and still no fy, custom/workshop, gungame, pubs. People go crazy when they readd train, which is older than the average age of the CS2 player by this point. Fun is something that has been eradicated from CS2, everyone wants to compete, even though there's nothing to compete for. What is the end goal in playing the same 5 maps over and over again? People only have one life with rougly 75 years, why waste so much of it playing the same thing over and over again. It's a waste of time

It had custom map servers like the second month I think of cs2 existence.
@@yeetskie Cybershoke is very limited and they don't host fy gg or workshop maps. There is no active pub community like in the old days.
Nice video! A little inside view on Classic-Offensive: It isn't so much that Zool is a perfectionist, it is much more that Valve's updates to CS:GO kept breaking Classic Offensive. But it is fair to say the finish line is in sight! (It's been fun to work on it this past year)
Condition Zero had some of the coolest T character models, and I'll fight you about it.
The one thing I miss most from 1.6 is being able to pick your character model. Arctic Avengers forever! I refuse to pay for character skins. The ones they have in CS2 borderline break the game. Some are hard to see, some get confused for the opposing team, some are just horrible to begin with and are a disadvantage to use. It's annoying.

honestly, even valve forgets about condition zero, they didn't include it in the cs2 trailer but really its just 1.6 but with more content and hd models
Ironically valve is currently focusing on the competitive scene instead of casual alianating most of the players to focus on e-sports nonsense
Yeah, competitive isn't fun. A game needs a player base to have a competitive scene and players don't want to play an unfun game.

Looking at it, it seems like there was a lot of nostalgia and "the old way was better because it's the old way" like the grenades, buying ammo, death animations, small stuff like that, so I don't know how much of that would have creeped in eventually considering it actually took work to make those changes.

I remember this mod but didn't know it was abandoned. Regarding the fact that the valve does not help them: in my opinion, this is logical from their point of view. They make cs2 and don’t want to create a competitor for themselves who will take away some of their players, even if not the majority
They are honestly better off either making their own game or using CSS as a base.

You should try making sliding transitions to compare maps sometimes, like 3kliksphilip does. I know it might take some time, but it makes it much easier to spot the differences and adds to the video's quality.

In the late 2000s, this mod was a hot topic. Hell, tons of community made maps were made for this mod and all that effort was for nothing.
The devs truly gave up because in 2014 when they ceased operations with the mod, the skin market and gambling were at its peak in CSGO. It made sense to step aside.

Listen. I do not think you realize that Russian websites had remakes. And the whole game that comes with mods before this came out. And they still do and most of them are better than this. Plus this remake didn't understand why CS 1,6 was so loved. It's because of the variety of all game modes and that feel. Which this remake did not manage to catch.

I remember playing CSPromod, I like it very much for how simplified it was. It was closer to cs1.6 in terms of gameplay but looks just like css, I enjoy it
CSP was the best mod for CSS. Ive been playing for 2 years in '10-12. But VALVE told to the CSP team to stop making this mod. Thats why they canceled this mod.

1.04 was most played one, because it was mix of both 1.6 and source. When they released 1.05 people realased it was straight 1.6 rip-off so they continued to play 1.6.
CSPromod 1.04 movement was unique and more similar to csgo than both cs. People very liked that. With 1.05 it was just 1.6 with stupid russian ducking.
They tried to bring it back 2/3 years ago with 1 developer streaming the "progress" but it died anyway.

That's basically a cracked version of CS1.6 with CS Online assets. Not worth of making a video on it unless the topic is focused on the modded versions of the games which are endless.

Oh i thought some of the weapons are banned, turned out, they haven't been added yet. But how so? For it to work, shouldn't it be easy to just move all the weapon-related files and folder to their game folder?
Now ZooL and the rest are creating the Classic Offensive mod for CSGO. It is not known when it will come out. I hope it will see the light of day.

The reason it failed and csco will fail too is because they're doing it wrong. Cs 1.6 needs better graphics, not css or csgo 1.6's gameplay.
Promod was 1.6 gameplay with better graphics though. It didn't play like source at all. It failed because development was glacial and the rift between the 1.6 scene and source scene grew over time. Most people picked one and put up with the flaws. The announcement of a new CS game killed any remaining interest in it. CSCO has already failed because it didn't come out 5 years ago. Any community interest or hype has dwindled because everyone forgot or accepted that it's never going to release. Even if it does release, CS2 will be in a much better state by that time. People will be whining about it less.

Fun fact I never tried CS:S before, I started from 1.6 then moved to GO but after CS2 (the shittiest of all of them) came I tried CS:S & found out it was much better than CS2
All the Valve made CS are the shittest & community made CS or the other companies made CS like Sierra or Turtle Rock are the ones which felt CS tbh
