Cholla Cactus: Nature's Spiky Masterpiece Revealed

Cholla cactuses are found in all of the hot deserts of the American Southwest. All Cholla cactuses have wooden skeletons and jointed branches. The spines of most Chollas are covered with a paper-like sheath that reflects sunlight and protects the stems from overheating. They bloom in April and June. The flowers are small and green in color.
