Fede Alvarez seems like a very passionate, yet humble guy. I really enjoy hearing him speak on film, and very much enjoy his film style. As a die hard Alien fan, I can't wait to see what he delivers. Everything looks top notch from the trailer. Although i'm PSYCHED to see the pulse rifle return at the end of the trailer, i'm really disappointed to see yet another Ellen Ripley clone. I would much rather a drastically different hero for the new Alien film. Giving us a character more like Dutch from Predator would be so much more refreshing... it takes away form Ripley as a character when there's dozens of women who look, and act just like her whom have defeated Xenomorphs in nearly identical ways lol.. She literally looks like she's cosplaying as Ripley, same as Daniels in Covenant, same as Elizabeth Shaw in Prometheus, same as amanda ripley in Isolation, etc.. like can we break from the RIPLEY mold please?
I really hope the trailer is tricking us, and she's not Ellen Ripley 2.0 like we've seen repeated over, and over again within the Alien universe. That being said I'm very optimistic cause it looks beautiful, and everything i've been asking for with a new ALIEN film. Can't wait.

My idea for a third alien covenant/prometheus movie is as follows:
The engineers are the main characters in the movie and comes to the planet that was in the Prometheus movie.
There they find Weyland inside the crashed spaceship. They have a blue elixir(which both heals and gives eternal life) which they empty all over him and bring him to life.
But while doing this the Deacon from the Prometheus movie sneaks into their spaceship and hide it self in one of the ventilation chambers.
In the next part they arrive at the planet from alien covenant and find the other robot(Walter) who is david's twin. The engineers use the blue elixir and repairs him.
Once awaken the engineers and Weyland get to know all the horrible things that David has done, and weyland says "we have to stop David" .
They set course for origae. When they arrive, they scans all the planet, and finds the planet is full of hostile organisms except
on a high mountain where they discover that there are humans inside a cave.
Inside the cave they meet a herd of children, who tell that when they had lived on the planet for over ten years,
they began to be attacked by Xenomorphs and all the adults died or were turned into these creatures.
There were also great giants developed by someone the children calls David.
The engineers get ready to wipe out all the Xenomorphs that David has created, but the great giants manage to escape with one of the engineers' spaceships.
The engineers and Weyland hunts the spaceship and manage to force the spaceship down on the planet lv426.Where it start sending a distress signal.
The engineers return to Origae to find David, but discover that he has escaped.
In the last part we see David arriving and meeting an unknown alien species
    on a tropical like planet.
At the same time Nostromo leaves a nearby planet with the cargo of ore.
But when he and the unknown aliens have left the spaceship, the deacon slips out of the ship and is seen running toward the nearest settlement.
And that makes the cliffhanger that ends the third movie.
The ending movie could have a duration about five hours ?

What made the 1986 Aliens such a great sequel? Cameron took the original idea of a killer alien and expanded the universe, story and characters instead of trying to recreate the formula again. Which is why Alien 3 failed because u could clearly see the writers had no and idea no direction so they ended up with the same original 1979 Alien formula which by then was no longer original nor a fresh concept. Fincher was a great director but he had so little to work with and not forgetting the studio's interference.

"Romulus" actually has the potential of the being a pretty serviceable flick. Fede Alvarez might not be the greatest horror\thriller director ever, but his heart is in the right place - and I am saying this as someone who wasn't impressed by his "Evil Dead" remake (whose visual style actually reminded me more of "Alien" than "Evil Dead", so the man might right be at home here). Script-wise, there are more than 30 years of expanded universe material (comics, video games) to take inspiration from. The comics alone demonstrate that coming up with the story for an "Alien" movie is not actually as difficult as they made it feel like over the years because
      a) they had no clue about what they were doing or wanted (Alien 3)
      b) the were hiring the wrong people (Alien: Resurrection)
      c) they were too concerned with being artists (Prometheus, Covenant).
Provided that the studio didn't meddle with it like they do more often than not nowadays, I think Romulus could be a decent flick, maybe a bit reeking of nostalgia\fan-service, but decent.
