WWDC 2024 Thoughts: short and Sweet, 5 Things I Might Use

This year’s WWDC was a mixed bag of giving us both what we wanted for years, and also an homage to android. Not only did they copy both Samsung’s phone mirroring called smartview, but they’re finally giving us the ability to arrange icons where we want, which is…I don’t even know how long android has been doing that on their phones and their tablets. Additionally, the app color scheme is something that is straight out of android, and lastly, dragging apps to corners to tile them for macOS is just a page out of Windows’ book(Footage of book4). So Apple has basically closed some of the gaps to make their products even more like Android and PC…which is weird, because it feels like Apple is finally admitting that perhaps they should have been more like android all along?

And did you notice still no Journal app for iPadOS. WTF! Why do they launch a new iPad Pro and then a new keyboard you’ll need to buy for it but the most productive way to add entries to a Journal app is to type natively but oh no don’t think you can type a journal entry with their app on your new iPad and keyboard that you just dropped a small fortune on. You’ll need to pick up your iPhone and finger type on a smaller restrictive screen keyboard to do that! Oh please…….Apple lift your game please for the love of god 🙏

Good point! The journal app must have been a silo'd project, where the apple iphone OS/App developers must've pushed to implement it without the other teams on board...an ipad with a keyboard or a pencil to journal does make a lot more sense!
