It really hurts my heart to hear you speak of how that small rail line became in dierstraight s. In this country greed hurts alot of company s . Thanks for another great video ,your love for all things trains as always is outstanding.
I really enjoyed this. Thank you for uploading the video again. I like those old geeps still working. Part of railroad history! I particularly liked the light power/street running segment where, after giving a good blast of horn, the car alarms saluted back!
Drayton, thank you for reloading this video and allowing us to view it again. You must have added or corrected some information in this video. It was nice to be reminded of the street running in Watsonville, California that the Santa Cruz & Mnterey Bay Railroad used to do before its demise/
the watsonville part of this branch is now served by the up local switcher on a as needed basis only, nothing goes past watsonville anymore. there was once weekly traffic north of santa cruz when the cement plant was working, but that has been defunct over ten years now. and sadly they have said this week in news about the line past the watsonville city limits that the track is to be pulled up and put in a storage yard, for maybe future reuse not that you can put much faith in that, they are just waiting on fra approval.
Oh how Sad thank you for show casing the line to ,let's pray for future customers 🙏....we are surprised there's no Transloads Facilities ..on this line.....very sad that no tourist Railways don't locate here ......wow..how beautiful.....Hope you keep us involved us on any new customers...any Congratulations "Delay block on bringing in new Customers......wow now there's the video "of the Year.....
My railroad in Brooklyn new York used to do lots of street running learned one thing most people are morons used to tell the engineer blow the horn and keep coming
You hear correct! A very political battle. They keep pushing for what's called rail-banking which means, "tear up the rails but say if a good use for them comes up, we promise to tear out all our millions of dollars of 'improvements' and put the rail back down".
@@princessofthecape2078 Interesting. Hadn't heard that but I believe it. Our little ocean-side town has about 30,000 commuters that drive daily over a treacherous mountain pass into Silicon Valley. There used to be a rail line called the Suntan Special that brought thousands of tourists over every weekend from the valley. During a lull in users right after cars made their debut the fools stopped the Suntan Special and abandoned the tracks. Subsequently a bunch of homes were built on the rail path and all the many tunnels were turned into places commercial paperwork goes to die (storage). That railroad would now be a bonanza to the weekend tourists as it services the local beach and boardwalk. Tourists wouldn't sit for an hour each way on the clogged highway puking out exhaust and commuters could've used it daily to connect into the extensive Silicon Valley mass transit. All that's impossible now due to the simple loss of the tracks due to shortsightedness. I can see the same thing happening everywhere they rip out track or do so-called rail-banking. If bike routes are so desirable then they should put them in, just don't take out tracks to do it.
Like that cool horn
I'm watching from Kalam valley...
Love those old geeps. Have a blessed day everyone . God bless.
My favorite is the geep 30 God bless you too!

The Leadville Colorado and Southern owns #89 now
The Leadville Railroad in Colorado owns locomotive 89 now
Drayton, filling my need for short-line action ! You are the best at what you do! Thanks for ALL of it- David
12:06 it even triggered an aftermarket car alarm 😂😂😂😂
Did that horn set off the car alarms?!?!
Yep. They do that to the glass-break sensors.
What a treat, thank you so much.
Nice video! I rode the MH 89 on the Mount Hood Railroad in the late 90's.
Great Horn!
Very interesting video... That's one Hell of a paint scheme. The shots during the street running were spectacular !!!
Awesome video!!!
When did this railroad shutdown and what happened to the locomotives ?
2018 and they were all sold off after Iowa Pacific’s bankruptcy and liquidation of assets in 2020.
Ah okay thanks
GP9 89 was sold to the Leadville, Colorado and Southern railroad, and moved there in September of 2021.
That was a paint scheme only a tourist railroad could love!

I feel like I’ve seen this before. Is this a reupload?

Nice ride along. Would be nice to restore it to Milw Road or paint satin to preserve the patina. Nice history of this power unit and operations.
That horn!!
My railroad in Brooklyn new York used to do lots of street running learned one thing most people are morons used to tell the engineer blow the horn and keep coming
I understand the local bike nuts are working hard to close the whole line and turn it into a trail.
