In my opinion, Nikke wins by a slide when it comes to story and character design. 1) Story: one of few things to consider when presenting the story is also the ease to understand without trying to make things complicated. I can't say about PGR but i dont think that Wuwa or HSR can beat Nikke. Nikke also manage to make people attach or hate to certain character by showing their motivation. An NPC like Oswald quickly become one of people favorites because of the role that he played in both Red Hood's and Cinderella's story. 2) Character design: When it comes to character design, it is debatable bcoz everyone has different taste but if i have to choose, i will pick Nikke, FGO, and ZZZ as top contender simply bcoz of their uniqueness. I wont explain about ZZZ coz there are Koleda, Billy, Ben and Anton who is super unique and full of personality. As for FGO, its characters design are what got me hooked and stayed for the past 9 years tho i ultimately dropped it this year so i wont waste your time on that. But one of few characters that worth noting are Heracle, Super Orion, Nero Claudius, Demon King Oda Nobunaga, and Iskandar. Nikke in particular have several characters that are super iconic like Red Hood, Cinderella, Rosanna, Maiden, Naga and Rupee. there are some who look kinda similar but still unique to the game like Bay and Noise. with that said, i wouldn't pretend like there are no characters that kinda look generic like Dolla who looks similar to Kafka(HSR) who looks similar to Macchiato(GFL1&2). but again, this is subjective matter so its up to someone's preference. those who hate fan service might not like what nikke have to offer. just as how i dont like Wuwa overall design, some might not like Nikke's or FGO's design.
thank you! im so tired seeing people overrating gacha game stories. yes they might be good for gacha standard but if we are talking about game as overall media, none of the gacha stories would be on A tier let alone S tier
but.. but... there's Nasu.... and fgo.... some of the stories in the game aren't written by Nasu tho. But the ones that are? Masterpiece. I could be glazing tho...
- Limbus Company - FGO (Lostbelt) - Reverse 1999 - Guardian Tales - Path to Nowhere - Nier Reincarnation - Arknights - Heaven Burns Red These are the actual ones with good stories. Saying gacha games stories is not tier A just proves that you never actually tried the good ones.
BASED #1 wuwa and #2 hsr for me. Rest i dont play even i know em. I wait for ananta and nte see if they are good. Did try genshin and zzz both failed on release for me so i just skipped em.
I’m of the opinion that Honkai Impact (specifically part 1)is by far the best hoyoverse game. The one thing that sets it apart is that theres no modern hoyo MC (traveler, trailblazer, etc). Theres several main characters and each one gets actual character development as the story goes on. All of them grow and change from their experiences and I feel like that’s such a rare thing to see in gacha games. The story is beautiful too. it’s not happy go lucky all the time, it gets pretty dark and they seriously put these girls through a lot and as I said they grow and change from these events. I adore the way they use animated cutscenes. They use them as a sort of payoff for the completion of a story arc starting in chapter 9. Speaking of CH9, that’s when the story picks up. Arguably the best part about Honkai Impact is that part 1 actually ends and you get a satisfying conclusion to the story, you can stop there and feel like the story is complete. While the story is still ongoing in part 2 there’s new protagonists and sadly a bit of that modern hoyo formula but at the very least they still aren’t afraid to kill playable characters if it moves the story forward in an important way. Another gacha I like is Epic Seven. Episode 1 was good, same with episode 2, episode 3 takes a drop in quality, nobody likes episode 4, and the vampire half of episode 5 was good. Then there’s the moonlight theatre which has by far the best stories in the game. Fallen Land is goated as hell and is better than any of the actual main story. Sadly the writer for Fallen Land recently left so we may never get the second half of the story but damn the first half was great and the vision they had for the second half looked awesome. E7 also has occasional collabs. I believe the current roster is Guilty Gear, FMA, Re:Zero, Tensura, Overlord, Kizuna Ai(???), and Aespa(?????????????). I more or less agree with your tier list. Never played PGR but I hear a lot of good things about it, same with Limbus Company. I’ll probably give them a try once I have some time
Barely a minute in, I get the feeling you'd enjoy Grand Summoners or Last Cloudia. Especially if you're looking for more collabs. Grand Summoners pretty much only does Anime, but Last Cloudia has done Anime and games, including Devil May Cry.
It's difficult for me to rank anything because I only played genshin for so long, heard about pgr and tried zenless for a short while but been only playing wuwa since its release. Also it's difficult to compare those 2 because we have obviously not seen true wuwa potential yet until 2.0 is out, and genshin has been out for 4 years compared to wuwa 6 months But so far, I had no idea zzz had any exploration, I'd have to give credit to genshin for exploration, most wuwa open world activities are painfully basic as of right now compared to genshin who's been ripping everything off zelda since 2020. Combat I believe genshin could rival pgr because of the reaction system as core idea, though it falls overly numb and repetitive with time, while pgr still delivers that punch. Zenless combat doesn't deserve 3th place though imo. It is so painfully simplified I feel like I'm not even playing the game.
@darkdragon_xd2537 I personally just love the fast paced gameplay. I do love honkai star rail’s gameplay though. Every game on this list is a game I enjoyed at one point or still enjoy
Lmao, Hsr's story is great. It's just that penacony had horrible pacing and a lot of unnecessary wording. The actual plot was great tho. (Took me like 7 - 8 hrs for each part)
@Dripeh300 its meant for mure-minded people, it doesnt treat you like a horny weeb, and its definitely the best gacha out there. you might not understand at first.
I would love to hear your opinions.
Edit: I revised my opinion on zzz's music and I think they should be second on the list now
Reverse 1999 has amazing EN voice acting. In fact, it is preferred over the other languages. I recommend it either on the top or somewhere high

@@novaaltreaz7307 I 100% agree. For some reason the overall concensus is that Gacha Game = Bad story.
@@Dripeh300 It's because gacha games went mainstream during Genshin Impact and we all know how hoyo lacks the narrative in their games.
