    Many thanks for your videos- I think you've just saved me £100. I was going to go All in on the Canvas KS with the box and then gift my original copy of Canvas. Now after seeing these 3 videos you've done I will stick with just my retail copy of Canvas and enjoy it for the super light weight game it is........and although I'll miss out on the scorepad (which tbh isnt needed- you can count up the scores in your head its such a light weight game) - I'll get to use the cloth playmat!

      Good man! And yes I know the pad isn't essential but it's like a staple inclusion. Not everyone is good with their numbers.

    I was waiting for your opinion of the Painter Cards, which is one of the main reasons I bought this expansion, only to realize that was only in the deluxe edition of the game. I understand why companies do that kind of thing to get you to back a game on crowdfunding but things like that often make me appreciate those that don't limit gameplay content. Thanks for covering all of the expansions!

      You're welcome! Yeah, having locked stuff behind KS's always annoys me.

    Thanks for covering the expansions! Great review. I will say that I think there is a difference in perception of value for the expansions depending on when you got them. $90 is a lot to dish out at once for a gateway game. But $90 over the course of three years isn't too bad. Especially considering what a hit this game is with everyone I introduce it to.
    I backed each campaign and was excited with what I was receiving for each one. The mirrored cards in Reflections are awesome. And my wife and I like the Painter cards' abilities a lot. The frames seemed kind of gimmicky to me but were ultimately a great part of the last game I played - a 5P game where the battle over the frames led to some great swings over the last couple turns.
    It may not be a tremendous value to go all in for now but having it added incrementally over the course of a couple of years to a personal favourite felt really good and like reasonable value.

      That's not a bad argument actually - works for LCG's :-)

    Big Box should have been offered in the third expansion.
    It's funny, some KS campaigns are annoying because it's a game with six expansions right from the start, while others are annoying because this all could have just been the base game with various modules, which is really what these are.

    • @TheBrokenMeeple
      @TheBrokenMeeple  2 месяца назад

      Big box with 3rd expansion for sure - that way if anyone wanted it, they most likely already had all the content.

    Question. Is the deluxe version worth it the upgrade?
    I appreciate your honesty, annoyingly my need to complete the set will make me buy it and I backed the big box for the storage solution. But you are right, it’s pretty expensive

    • @TheBrokenMeeple
      @TheBrokenMeeple  2 месяца назад

      Deluxe is pretty much just cosmetic upgrades - doesn't really add much value in terms of gameplay.

    It's on the wardrobe, looks phantastic, the big box is coming, we paid too much -- but we have a score pad! What do you rate the whole shebang together? For me it is still a 9/10 game overall.

    • @TheBrokenMeeple
      @TheBrokenMeeple  2 месяца назад

      Everything together, probably still a 7/10 especially factoring in how much has been spent on it. It's decent enough, but not one I'm crazy to bring out all the time.

    There's a Kickstarter for a big box to store all 3

      I've mentioned it in the last two videos! :-) Doesn't make it OK to spend another £45 to fix a mistake though.

    • @nipzie
      @nipzie 2 месяца назад +3

      @@TheBrokenMeeple That depends on if you consider it a mistake. Big Boxes should come at the end of game development, or you end up with a Big Box 2.0 and more pissed off customers. They could have done it at the same time as the last KS but it would have caused delays, I don't have an issue with how they went about this.

    It seems the base game is still the best.

  • @gianfranco4789
    @gianfranco4789 2 месяца назад

    Agreed. I consider the 1st expansion essential. Ill just print a score pad and skip the 2nd expansion. ... I like the game, but honestly want to cull it based on the sole fact that I cant store it in a single box. Nop, Im not buying a bix box for a game that delivers the same fun as any other $20 or less games on my shelf.

    • @TheBrokenMeeple
      @TheBrokenMeeple  2 месяца назад +1

      Pretty much as I feel. Honestly I'd feel a bit cheated if I had bought all of these at full price. It's already a pain having to have 3 boxes on a shelf, only to then take 2 of them out when I want to play the game. The third box is literally taking up space for no reason.

    I disagree with you on this one. Love this game and love the gimmick.

      You talking about the base game or the expansion at this point?
