Coast FI sounds really appealing because when you’re young and hustling, you can give up more and then let off the gas when you’re in your 40s and wanting to enjoy life and travel a little more.
Totally. If you stay busy and bustle, you won't have much time to spend anyways lol. Staying busy if far better than bored when you're growing your wealth!
Coast/Lean here: without ever sacrificing the healthiest flaxseed toast or any dark leafy green! Nutrition & health is just as important as money. As well as being able to help others along the way 💚
The Money Resolution Thank YOU for all the time you put into these videos. Loved winning your 2nd audiobook too. In the words of Alicia Keys 🎶 This Frank is on fiiiiire🔥
My wife and I did Baby Coast Fire, we save up enough that we could be well on our way to Fire and could coast so that she could stay at home with the kids. She left her job last year and loves the extra time with the kids.
I’d say I’m aiming for fat fire. I want to be able to treat my kids and grandkids to really fun experiences and not have to worry about making ends meet. I have the luxury of getting to do something for work that I love every single day and not have to worry about the paycheck any longer. It’s a really fun place to be!
I've got a few different paths I'm considering. There is a lot of chaos between now and then so I'm focusing more on saving, investing and tracking my progress toward a lot of goals, leaving my options open to decide a bit further along the path.
I already answered my Why in one of your previous videos. But for this video, I think I’m closest to Flamingo Fire. I’m 44. My house is paid off. I want to work and aggressively save until I’m 50, The. I’ll work part time until I can officially retire, take an early retire buy out, or deferred retirement. 6 years is very doable.
Thanks for the great video! My wife and I are kind of on the coast or hybrid FIRE approach. We are trying to earn and save as much as possible right now while we are lucky enough to have high-paying jobs in the US. We plan to move closer to her family in Spain in the next 5 - 10 years where salaries are easily 50% of what they are in the US and the cost of living in their area isn't much cheaper (except for healthcare and college). Hopefully, it will be enough or at least put us in a good position long-term!
Slow Fire & Barista Fire for me & my husband. We want to enjoy our lives with our 2 kids and we're not in a rush. My husband also said that if I stop him from working completely when we get old, it's definitely going to kill him. 😆 I agree! So, we'll definitely hold some sort of part time job or hobbies that generate a little bit of income even though we're already retired.
Love the content. Never heard of flamingo fire lol. My self I'm trying to make it to barista fire of sorts. I work a lot in construction and Im trying to save enough to be able to work for myself and not have to worry about money. Main reason is to be able to spend more time with my kids and my wife. It's hard but I've gotten to 45% savings of my gross pay which is hard to do with 3 kids . I think the hardest thing with that is trying to balance savings and still enjoying the ride. As always love the content. Please keep it coming .
That's incredible. 45% with zero kids myself is hard so you're absolutely crushing it. You're totally right about balance. I've been speaking to that and mindset a bunch lately. Appreciate the note!
Great video! I am following the Flamingo FIRE plan. I just never had a name for it until now! I'm still in phase one and working toward reaching phase two hopefully in 5-7 years. Then in 10 years after that, I hopefully will have enough to fully retire. I'll have to go check out the money flamingo site. Thanks!
Love it buddy! Flamingo FIRE sounds fun 😁🦩 I think there should be a Peacock FIRE where you slowly spread your feathers into full strut my stuff FIRE 🦚...Thanks again for the great info 🤜🤛 #YouCantSpellFrankieWithoutFIRE🔥
I agree about the types for FIRE. I've also got my own video about that too which viewers might find interesting: ruclips.net/video/I0d5I9hBpNI/видео.html
Mix of Lean and "Barista" for me. I want to invest $600k so i can withdraw $24k annually... But I want to then start my own business on something Im passionate about.
I cut another one I "made up" about that! It was Passion / Business FIRE. Start and grow a business (ideally digitally) that someone else could eventually run OR have an exit strategy to sell. Great idea for sure. I eventually want to hybrid that and Coast/Barista. I know I'll always work but ideally only on what I'm passionate about or part-time elsewhere. "Passive income FIRE?" anyone :) Thanks for sharing!
I want to strive for a hybrid between obese, baby and flamingo. I want to be able to take care of my mom and I decided that I refuse to have a child if I can't give them a sweet, easy life which is generational wealth.
I find Coast FIRE most suitable in my case 😊
Achieved 15x so far 🙏😊

40's are also a good time to start a family once a person can let off the gas.

LOVE THIS. Thanks for sharing Brittany. Super fresh, positive perspective 🙌

Sounds like a dream Nate. Well done both of you!! I'm sure you're super happy about that looking back!

That's an AMAZING place to be for sure 🙌
Considering coast fire since i hit my six figure portfolio back in 2023
Lean fire for me. Have been following slow fire to get there so far but am stepping contributions up a notch now!
Coast than Lean is a great combo!
Number 2 sounded like the path that I'm on but I really liked number 10. I felt those were really wise words. A lot of wise words in today's vid.
Glad that one made sense to you. I can tell by the comments on this video MOST people take a hybrid approach in reality over time.

Definitely very doable!! Thanks for watching another and sharing :)
Definitely a Hybrid Fire dude Ill figure it out when I get to that point

That sounds amazing Brad! I've always wanted to visit Spain.
My goal is 1MM, I am now at 660k portfolio. Need 340k more to slow down and relax. I am following Coast FIRE
Shooting for a mix of fat FIRE and slow FIRE!
Heck yeah! Keep going Cari!!
We like to shoot for Fat FIRE just to really pump up the savings rates! Although our actual expenses fall into the lean to normal FIRE camp!
Aim for the Fat FIRE Stars, land amongst the Normal FIRE moon! 🌠
Amazing video my friend! Very informative. 🙏
Lets stay connected. 💪
Very helpful video.
Own question: How should I consider EMI in the calculation of FI number?

Glad there is a name for what I'm aiming towards for us.... I'd say we are coast/flamingo ING
That's a great combo!!
Hi I think I'm doing Flamenco FIRE...do you have a link or video for this one? Where did you find out about it?
I don’t but an interesting idea. Most of my research is online - FIRE blogs are great for that topic 👍
Great video man! Really makes you think about your personal goals and how you want to get there
Thanks SHS! Totally. And I hope seeing all the different types makes FIRE more approachable to newbies overall :)
Lean fire over here! Between me and my wife expenses, we are under 25k
That's awesome Tyre! Nicely done!
Lean for me-moving to Mexico

Hahaha that's awesome. I'm still locking in my Frankie FIRE path. Maybe I'll incorporate this new Peacock FIRE strategy lol.

Baby FIRE, I was hoping that would be when grandparents give a newborn $50k
Genuinely laughed out loud. 😂

You should end every video with: You can't spell Frankie without Fire
