@@bigslugga1663 There's a few interpretations. The most common one is its about Sol and Aria and more specifically about how Sol feels empty without her and the song is all his pent up grief he's bottled in his tough guy act over time. Despite being an immortal, insanely powerful, respected hero, who is literally the main character he still feels so distant from the world without her in it.
Let's go, more guilty gear! This song had me crying like crazy the first time i heard it. Not necessarily just the story context and how beautiful it is but mostly seeing such a niche gane series that i love becoming such a huge success. Absolutely amazing.
I don't fully know why this sappy power ballad gets me when so many others just go in one ear and out the other, but I think a big part of it is how earnest the song and Guilty Gear as a whole feels. It's not afraid of being weird and sentimental and vulnerable, which really helps emphasize the moments when it becomes big and impressive. Like this song, in comparison to love songs that tend to just leave it at the basic tropes e.g. "I wanna live the rest of my life with you" and "you complete me" and so on, adds some fascinating small details. Verses like "Your feet start to walk. / What are you looking at?" feels like a precious moment crystallized in their memory, speaks to how the singer is looking - _really_ looking - at their loved one, who makes even the smallest gestures seem grand and makes the moments when the song does go big feel genuine. Similarly, despite how complicated and loaded with proper nouns Guilty Gear's story is, it's packed full of care for its characters' stories, like you can tell Daisuke loves these characters and wants them to find happiness. A lot of other stories I've checked out just want the big cool power-up moment and either don't care about the inner life of the characters involved or don't understand _how_ to care about it, which makes the moment itself feel flatter and cheaper as a result.
I fucking LOVE THE DIVA LEITMOTIF I LOVE IT Diva, Marionette, Juno, Diva of Despair, Necessary Discrepancy, Extras, Perfection Can't Please Me... ...and Let's Talk About You. What was originally a final boss theme for a brutally heartwrenching boss has lived and persevered and transformed into a beautiful swan song capping off the story of Sol Badguy-- Frederick Bulsara. Diva is my favorite Guilty Gear song and I love that we get to hear it's influence almost 20 years later.
@@jacobtheurer3425 I'm no musician so I'm probably gonna get the wording wrong, but all the above songs share the same type of lead-in at the start of the song before bursting into bombastic rhythm. It is consistent across every theme that belongs to one of the Valentines. It's most apparent with Diva of Despair since it follows almost the exact same beats as Diva.
One of the main themes of Strive is the search for hapiness. At the end of the last game, one of the biggest conflicts finally neded, so at the end of this one we're looking at a "Day after the end" where a lot of characters are settling down in the sort-of-finale they're in. I really like this song a a little happy ending that feels you with warmth, knowing that things are going to be ok
I beg of you to listen to All I Can Do, this song has always felt like a sequel to that one for me Edit: Your interpretation of the song fits really well with the conclusion of Sol (GG protagonist) and Jack-O (attempted reincarnation of his dead wife that became a person in her own right) with how Sol has begun to move on and turn towards loving Jack-O, freeing her from the purpose of her creation that she felt guilty for not being able to recreate and fulfilling Aria’s (Sol’s dead wife) wish for Sol to move on and for Jack-O to live.
FOr me thinking forward it kinda feels like Jack-O as a character will be fleshed out a lot more as she discovers herself more (as she's existed for like 3 weeks now) seperate from Aria, likely with help from Sol and possibly Raven cus they seemed pretty buddy buddy in xrd
Glad you enjoyed this, one of my favorite from gg strive even with its stacked soundtrack!Give freesia a listen aswell, it’s as beautiful and emotionally driven as talk about you
Like most Guilty Gear songs, this can apply to most of the characters or concepts in the series, but I think this is supposed to be between Sol and Jack-O'. The song's lyrics heavily suggest this: "Even in the cold rain, you dazzle and make me smile." Rain is used in both 'Lilly' (Stay out of the cold rain, lest your heart become rusty) and 'Perfection Can't Please Me' (In the pouring rain, I'll be your umbrella) to represent sadness, specifically Sol's. Side-note: I think It's heart-warming to see the use of rain (in referal to Sol) go from Aria's "Please, I dont want you to be sad for me." To Jack-O's "I'll be there for you when your sad" and Sol's "Even when I'm sad, you make me happy." "The world with you, You forgive me. It's a world where I can be." Is likely in reference to Jack-O's character arc where she originally thought she was designed to become Aria (Sol's dead wife) or at the very least prevent I-No's ascension to Godhood (at the cost of her life), only for Sol to explain that he loved her no matter who she was and that he'd give up everything if it ment he'd be with her in the end, this causes Jack-O to realise the world she was meant to save, was Sol, even if it meant the destruction of the universe. Additionally, the songs title 'Lets talk about you.' is possibly Sol asking Jack-O to finally create her own individuality, something she felt she couldn't do until the ending of Strive. But hey, thats just a theory, one that I dont think I conveyed very well, but thought would be interesting to share none the less.
I would recommend listening to Lily if you haven't it has a very harmonic vibe smiliar to this and it's just so good. and right after you could try listening to freesia. It has a very interesting progression half way through and probably my favorite of the 2 but they are very close. HOPE YOU LIKE IT!
It's over you have found the guilty gear ost rabbit hole , i'm expecting alot of videos in the future featuring all the GG's best bangers (please do the town inside me or love the subhuman self)
For as much as I love the insanity of Guilty Gear’s rock tracks I think Daisuke and Naoki’s talents shine brightest in their love ballad style songs. If you’re looking for recommendations Freesia is still their magnum opus in my opinion, would love to see your thoughts on it!
Somethinf i like about this song is that by being soo personal at the start (only guitar amd voice) the "talkimg about you" could refer to the player. And the second thing is that it build a picture in which there is someone there (the you) but you never see the face onky where it position around you. Like an orinic picture.
I do love this song, especially because it is a part of Guilty Gear. The series loves to slap you around with its bombastic rythms and blend of many generes but "let's talk about you" is quite accurate to its name. It is taking a step back from the action and giving you a moment to reflect on the crazy journey you went on. It is like a companion taking a moment to pause what they are doing to listen to you directly. Great song which, though it was all ready put foward by another commentor, leads me to recommend "Freesia" as well as "Divide My Heart". Freesia is such an emotional and funny journey of a song and Divide my Heart has Queen woven through and through. Xrd had some fantastic music.
So Bridget's theme, The Town Inside Me, is another song that isn't bombastic, but has a lot of energy. It's a very different direction than a lot of the other Guilty Gear songs. And there's lots of interesting metaphor and meaning behind the song. One of those one's where you'll definitely need to read about the character after listening. Also it's sung by an artist you haven't heard in this OST yet. I highly recommend adding it to the list.
In my understanding, the lyrics are in Sol's POV, encouraging Jack-O to think about her own personhood since, with or without Aria, Jack-O still is her own person. I think that is really cute because it pairs really well with Perfection Can't Please Me, in which Jack-O starts to wonder about those same themes, like what she can do with her life, as well as thinking about silly fun things to do along with Sol. I would never expect Guilty Gear to nail romance so hard, and yet here I am
If we Talk about guilty gear ending ballads Freesia is very good too. Honestly all guilty gear ballads are good but that one hits so hard in the feels.
I think (i dont know for sure) the song is about how Jack-O throughout the story of Xrd Revelator and Strive has no idea who she really is because she basically expected to exist for a little but then to just be replaced by Aria which never happened, causing her to have a sort of break down due to failing the one thing she was meant to do while also having to comprehend she has to exist outside of just being vessel to bring back Aria. And with that in mind I believe the lyrics are supposed to be Sol trying to express his love for Jack-O as she is still in a way Aria (Sol's dead wife/gf) and that they will try to figure out who Jack-O is together
This is probably an older title so not a lot of people remember it till this comment, but Bastion's Build That Wall or Setting Sail could be a cool dip for something a bit more "rugged western" feeling.
Jack-o, Aria, and Sol song. Jack-o and Aria share a body, Aria was Sol's wife before she died, they're friend Asuka(that man and the antagonist of the series) separated Aria's soul from her body and put it in Jack-o, both of them love Sol, but for most of the series Jack-o struggles with imposter syndrome thinking that Sol only sees her as Aria until both Aria and Sol finally bash it through her thick skull that she's not listening to what they've been telling her about how they feel about her. They have a massive discography, and most if not all of the guilty gear franchise is based on Daisuke's obsession with Rock and roll music. For instance Sol Badguy's actual name is Frederick Bulsara, the corrupted version of Freddie Mercury's name Farrokh Bulsara. Farrokh means Mercury in Parsi and other North Indian languages.
First of all, listen to Lily and Freesia too, you'll love them. Second of all, this is absolutely a Sol and Jack-O theme. It's funny you've done a lot of Guilty Gear especially lately but I don't think you've seen much of the main character Sol Badguy. Guilty Gear Strive is very much a turning point in the series and likely the end of Sol Badguy as the main character we follow, Daisuke says he has like, one more story left in the tank for Sol but he's pretty much wrapped up. Sol Badguy was once Fredrick Bulsara, a brilliant scientist working on the Gear Project alongside Aria Hale and That Man (aka Asuka R. Kreutz). Fredricks characterization is a little hard to pin down, in some sources he's similar to Sol but in others he's definently a lot more soft and dare I say a bit silly. Him and Aria were in love, and all three of them were very close, having met in college. Aria became terminally ill but took years to tell them because she knew they'd throw away everything to begin looking for a cure but she just wanted to live out her days with the people she loved. They wanted to cryo freeze her to wait for a cure but she said she couldn't live in a world without Fredrick in it, so Asuka responded by trying to make Fredrick *indestructible* by turning him into the very first Human Gear. None of his intentions were ever communicated to Fredrick, and when Asukas later actions eventually led to the 100 year long war between humans and Gears, Sol swore revenge on him and swore to kill all Gears. It took Sol a long time to learn definitively that Aria had indeed been cryo frozen and then turned into Justice, the all powerful commander Gear led the charge against humans. Eventually Asuka created Jack-O, a Valentine-like unit, which had multiple purposes in the context of Xrds story but the relevant one to this comment is that by fusing Jack-O to Justices corpse they could ressurect Aria's soul and she would presumably live in Jack-Os body. In the meantime Jack-O was controlled by a "temporary replacement personality". But once Aria was revived she didn't just take over. There are multiple reasons why but I think one of the big ones was that she was just too traumatized by what she did as Justice and just wanted to rest. This troubled Jack-O because to her she was failing at carrying out her role, which led her to start pivoting towards trying to stop I-No at the cost of her life when I-No started tearing stuff up. Jack-O didn't believe her personality and emotions were real but loved Sol regardless. When Sol went to stop her from sacrificing herself to stop I-No he told her that he never once referred to her as Aria, and that if Aria doesn't return that's her choice, but Aria wanted Jack-O to stay here, "like that hat of hers" which Aria once promised to Fredrick in anticipation of her passing away in a flashback. Sol said he promised himself when Jack-O showed up that he would stay by her side. So instead of getting the free win against I-No at the cost of Jack-O, no sacrifices were made and they all opted to save the world the hard way. Sols characterization in the series has always been brash, edgy, a little quippy but also I think there's always been a hint of immaturity there alongside his immense grief. But in Strive when he started traveling with Jack-O there was definently a noticeable but largely unmentioned shift with him, towards a more happy and docile disposition, around her at the very least. At the end of Strive he lost most of his powers and now he works a small business out of his new home mainly revolving around vehicle stuff, and he lives there with Jack-O in this dreamy, secluded location he says he picked out himself decades ago. He's also building a rocket, presumably to visit Asuka on the moon lol. His and Jack-Os dynamic makes me smile, he's so rugged and abrasive but she is just so into it, it's so cute how she keeps up with him. But yeah, this song is, just beautiful. Knowing the whole story the lyrics hit doubly as hard imagine them as being words from Sol. Earlier this year they held a concert at the finals for the Arc World Tour, basically a tournament series for the games ArcSys makes, and they played this song and goddamn man it was a vibe, I kinda screamed when I heard the first note of it lol
There's an argument that this song isn't actually a guilty gear song and is instead a Daisuke song. The reasoning for this is because this song in particular is a bit different than the other songs daisuke has written even considering how varied the strive songs are already Additionally, Daisuke Ishiwatari started a family some time before guilty gear strive's release which has lead some to speculate that this song comes from a much more personal place to him than what he has written before
Can't wait for some BlazBlue reactions, Daisuke isn't great just for Guilty Gear! BlazBlue is one of the reasons why ASW still making games, and why Daisuke can bless us with more music! Some of the great BlazBlue ost are: Stand Unrivalled, Must Die, Hakaishin, X-matic, Black Agression
Of all the things Guilty Gear is, I think you nailed your analysis of it. Honest. Everything Daisuke does in terms of composition or lyric writing is all so honest. And in his softer ballads he writes so vulnerably and tender, this one in particular stands out. The pre-chorus melody is so comforting. Love this song to bits

For more sweet slower songs, Freesia and All I Can Do from Guilty Gear Xrd are also amazing.
Please react to Zato-1's theme "let me carve your way"

@@PCRman I can't find it 😭
There's an argument that this song isn't actually a guilty gear song and is instead a Daisuke song.
The reasoning for this is because this song in particular is a bit different than the other songs daisuke has written even considering how varied the strive songs are already
Additionally, Daisuke Ishiwatari started a family some time before guilty gear strive's release which has lead some to speculate that this song comes from a much more personal place to him than what he has written before
Hello Marco, I really love you're content, I would love to see you react to 'I can't hear it now' from Arcane season 2
Omg
Another one you’d like would be lily from Xrd
Engajamento
Give a shot to Freesia, you should like it too
Radiant dawn when?
please listen to Diva from Guilty Gear 2: Overture. It's like the best song from the series.
Necessary Discrepancy when? :)

Please react to Shelter from the Rain, it’s a new song from guilty gear strive
Of all the things Guilty Gear is, I think you nailed your analysis of it. Honest. Everything Daisuke does in terms of composition or lyric writing is all so honest. And in his softer ballads he writes so vulnerably and tender, this one in particular stands out. The pre-chorus melody is so comforting. Love this song to bits
eagerly waiting for necessary discrepancy react. A great piece but sadly overlooked among GG music.
You should react to ARK: Survival Evolveds music, some of them are really good
Freesia is the more impactful version of this
really not that surprising to have ballads in GG music.
Now I casually wait for him to react to just lean or ups and downs 😆
Youre kinda late to say that
Beware of the Strive community…
