I went through there in 2007 slightly coughing. Nothing coming out of my nostrils. The key is to take a deep breath before the mask comes off, recite what you have to and move on. If you're commanded to do anything else.. well, you're on your own. Haha!
That looks like a roomy gas house. The one at Knox was cramped and there was a tree right outside the exit that you'd run into. They had us doing PT inside there too.
Best day of my life! Tried to breath and couldn't so I instinctively tried to clear and use the mask. Drill slapped it out of my hands and made me push with it. We probably went through 4 or 5 times back to back. By the time I did a re-cert it was like nothing.
Our room was smaller and there were many canisters going so that the room was foggy and you could barely see anything except the candles. I had bronchitis at the time, and I told them I did, but I went in anyway. Name, rank, DOB, SSN... some fool forgot his. I took a breath. It was like fire in my bronchi. They do it to instill confidence in one's mask. I was confident in it already, and didn't want to take it off in the first place. Never take off your mask in a contaminated environment. That command to take off my mask made me lose some confidence in my leadership, I'll tell you what. It took months to get over that bronchitis and I still have occasional issues from it.
Just The Soldiers Creed? We said name rank, social, battery(company), platoon, Platoon Sergeant. 1st Sergeant, Battalion thru post Sergeants Major Company thru Tradoc commander, and lastly the post mascots
haha I remember this all too well..Ft Leonardwood Jan 12th-April 29th...Our Company Commander was with us (behind the window lol) singing the national anthem super slow...couldn't even get 3 words out but I hummed it lmao Combat Engineers-Sappers we lead the way Essayons Hooah!
I can't help but realize of how calm the whole environment is that they're in right now. Everyone seems to be having a great time, relaxed and feeling good talking about chow... seems so easy
man i remember accidentally inhaling while doing that, (i think i coughed) so i had to grap on to my battle to get the he hell out of the champer. luckly i finished putting on my ach so that i didn't have to do it a second time
I am gonna be going into the Army and thankfully these videos will at least show me what is to come! And on top of that I am curious on what i can be able to do in the U.S. Army since I have PTSD... Any feedback on this would help!
@punishingbuttcheeks i graduated bct oct 28 2011 so not to long ago. all i can say is ur going to fuck up when ur there. its bound to happen but dont let it get to u. dont take anything the drill sgt say or do to u personal. all u gotta do is, suck it up and drive on, 14 weeks and you'll be through. good luck.
When I went throught the gas chamber, it definatley cleared my lungs and head out quick. I was a correctional officer, and to graduate from training one had to complete this part of it. We were not allowed to leaven until we state our name, and what institution we were assigned too. The military gas chamber is more involved though, we didn't have the benefit of gas masks.
Ugh I remember that day...For whatever reason my gas mask disappeared...I borrowed a battle's used mask...Which might of not of been the best idea. How I got away with not being spotted for a smoking? I don't really know either...I was sweating balls that day for fear of the DS lol.
The Gas Chamber. Sucked. What was worse was the roadmarch after prior to chow when the drills swung CS along the path to test our reactions. Gawd....that was so long ago.
I just remember the overwhelming feeling of nausea and almost puking. At least at Jackson we only had to keep our masks off for about 15 seconds. I pity these guys.
@peterm3964 1000s of soldiers, seamen and airmen have went through this no side effects what so ever. Believe me if this is hazardous to your health in any kind of way you wouldn't be in there. Actually it really cleans ur lungs out.
When I went through the chamber, I was congested as fuck. Afterwards, I was cleared up. 10/10 medical remedy.

+Steve D will basic go by fast or slow?

The first part is slow.... Very slow. Once you get the hang of it and don't wash out, the time seems to pass a bit quicker.
Did this in 1990 and it is something you will not forget. Great times.
My friend in college went through this in 2008 when he joined the Marines. 🎭🎀🐌🐚🎠
When my drill sgt went in there without a mask on and was a damn beast about it
I hope all these soldiers had a Dazzling Memorial day Weekend. 🎀🌸🌺

Can't believe they changed the sending people back in if they drop their stuff... I don't see anything wrong with that.

Anyone else leaving early October? I'm stoked, best of luck everyone!!!
CCO 2/47 1999, Sandhills
I'll be seeing you there. I leave April 8th for Benning also.

How is he now?
Erm this changes my mind about joining the army a bit.But never give up.
FT DIX....1977. I'll never forget it. I went to Sand Hill for Advanced Infantry Training.
I LOVE THIS PART OF BASIC TRAINING. CHILI MAC FOR THE WIN!
The gas was so thick when I went through you couldn't see the other side of the room.
WOW seem like yesterday I was a new boot on Sand Hill never will forget it. One shot one kill we love Sand Hill Hoooaahh!

Benning TV can you do a 2017 army basic training please
I look forward to this.
Just The Soldiers Creed? We said name rank, social, battery(company), platoon, Platoon Sergeant. 1st Sergeant, Battalion thru post Sergeants Major Company thru Tradoc commander, and lastly the post mascots

I got through half of the Soldier's Creed before they let us out of the chamber at Fort Bragg, NC!! The gas was a pain but survived lol

Can somebody give me an insight on what kinda exercises and pt you do
im going june 5th and a buddy of mine is going june 11 hope to see you there
What does the Irish army do at the moment? (Cause I'm joining in June
Liking those changes
for all the ones saying it wasnt that bad, did you use the gas or the beads, beileve it od not there is a difference
when I was at Benning there was this guy actual dialoge: "when I entered the gas chamber I had a sinus infection, when I came out I didn't"
Is it like drowning but without the water?
the best part of the cs chamber is if you were congested before hand you weren't after
haha I remember this all too well..Ft Leonardwood Jan 12th-April 29th...Our Company Commander was with us (behind the window lol) singing the national anthem super slow...couldn't even get 3 words out but I hummed it lmao
Combat Engineers-Sappers we lead the way
Essayons Hooah!
What happened to episode 2? Researching both UK and US military training (WALES) ;D

Wait can you enlist with ptsd?
The upbeat coverage of the topic of gas masks reminds me of fallout. Haha

I loved it besides the fact I thought I was gonna throw up afterwards
oh I can't wait for this. Its going to be funny as hell when they try to make me recite something in there.
I wish I could have gone in the chamber twice
it's getting worse and worse for each time you enter..:P
why didn't u ask lol
@B34STYxWELLMAN
Yes, but it's 14 weeks if you're Infantry.
I just finished basic and I'm going to alaska in two weeks
I had to learn about OPSEC on youtube lol, thanks for the heads up bro.
Yeah, where the heck is it?
It’s always funny how every now and then some Soldiers are completely unaffected by it.
my eye's watering just thinking bout it.. lol never thought id open my eyes again
Getting OC sprayed is 1000 times worse than the gas chamber. lol
@NFLfan034 I'm 19kilo too. What's your ship date in sept?
Sand Hill in 1980. Good times..
@peterm3964 No they killed people at waco with fire. CS is an aerosol version of pepperspray.
Good memories.
always loved the sound of laughter with masks on
@shadow0imposter My DI was the exact same way, we werent even allowed to wear our rank till we gradutated.
11bravo, infantry in March, I cant wait!
i never could understand the point of exposing us to the gas at all..i mean whens the last time us troops were attacked with tear gas? if ever..
That is so scary lol I don't leave until April 8 but sheesh ima try to take the least amount of breaths possible

Easily the worst thing ive experienced in life lol. Don't let them make you believe it wasn't that bad. It sucked
been there ..done that...even cleared a start of a head cold
I got some buddies who REALLY like the gas chamber. I can't wait till I get to Benning.
They got my back.
@Lonewolf161616 the M16 will NEVER DIE! BC 1999 Sand Hill.
Ugh I remember that day...For whatever reason my gas mask disappeared...I borrowed a battle's used mask...Which might of not of been the best idea. How I got away with not being spotted for a smoking? I don't really know either...I was sweating balls that day for fear of the DS lol.
wheres part 2
I ship the 8th too! Pvt. Mullins. I'll look for you.
The drill sergeants just let us stay in for 10 seconds and then let us out as long as we don't make a break for it.
i love how most of these comments are soldiers looking back at it all lmao
my dad had to do this but more in the Asian orange gas just before he was going to Vietnam thanfuly he wwas never deployed.
Go for it bro
The Gas Chamber. Sucked. What was worse was the roadmarch after prior to chow when the drills swung CS along the path to test our reactions. Gawd....that was so long ago.
@cinderskenney You obviously didn't listen to the first 15 seconds... 0:08-0:15.
it doesn't show it
The WORST experience at training 😷😷😷
Yes
+Julia Belk Hell no reception is the worst lol
+Julia Belk Respect!
Julia Belk No shit.....
Fly Away!!!! Ik of course. I was responding to a foreigner
I just remember the overwhelming feeling of nausea and almost puking. At least at Jackson we only had to keep our masks off for about 15 seconds. I pity these guys.
i love the gas camber :) i want to reenlist just for that.
