Iroh really understand what's happened to Zuko because he already in that situation before, when his son died and abandoned his ambition to conquering Ba Sing Se
Everybody always say they hate Ba Sing Se but I bet if Nickelodeon and Universal Studios worked out a deal and dedicated a sizeable portion of their park, you would love to hang out in Ba Sing Se. That would be so cool.
There are no lines in Ba Sing Se.
The city design is awesome, so yeah. It's problems are the rampant snobbery and the corruption in the Dai Li...which *hopefully* wouldn't be literally present in a theme park!
me getting a job as a Dai Li actor and beating up any little kid who mentions the war
@@PrinceofArfon yeah but imagine if they hired some free runners to jump around on roofs dressed as Dai Li. That would be pretty awesome. Just stalk people as they enter the Ba Sing Se area and if they look up, quickly slide down the opposite side of the roof.
I’d love to get some tea at the Jasmine Dragon
"We got played"
That's rough Buddy
I suppose there are rougher things😂😂😂
@@tumbleheart4664 indeed, such as [REDACTED]
The two dragons in Zukos dream each embody an influential person in Zuko's life.
Together they show the conflict going on in Zuko.
Just to be sure you guys are aware, the finale is a two parter, so it’s technically two episodes.
I'm sure they already know their on book 3 on patreon.
You got to respect the time and effort the production team put into the whole breaking in scene by showing the characters teamwork ability also by showing how there bending progress individually. I also like how its just one sequence of them rolling there way in like nothing.
Speaking of fever dreams, you two should wait until the third season episode Nightmares and Daydreams before you decide to cosplay as Appa and Momo.
lol
"Cosplaying Appa and Momo would feel like a fever dream". Foreshadowing?
coincidence
When this show was originally airing I wrote it off as a little kid show. Until one day I was flipping through channels and saw the scene of attacking the Earth King's palace. I had to find out how these kids got so bad ass in season 2 lol. Been hooked on it ever since.
I'm in the same boat. I was 19 when this show aired and so never really gave it a second thought. I remember I was hanging out with some friends and the Season 2 finale was playing in the background and I remember thinking it looked pretty cool for a kids show and decided to check it out. Me and a friend binged watched basically the entire show in a few days.
LMAO crazy that 3 kids were able to raid the castle & lay waste to all the guards 😂 (Sokka played his part when we got to the King)
@@acenull0 Yeah, Sokka got that maxed out charisma
Same! I didn't write it off, I had just never watched it. This was the first episode I watched and I was hooked by the palace attack, especially Katara's badass waterbending. I remember thinking, yes, this is what's missing in shows! It still was a few years until I was able to watch it fully, but this episode has a special place in my heart
Kinda surprised you two didn't ask the obvious question; where is Suki? Last we saw Suki was fighting Azula to save Appa and now Azula shows up wearing Suki's clothes and make-up!
Like real ancient Chinese emperors, Kuei has lived a sheltered life.
He's the fifty-first Earth King, and the first one to ever see the Outer Wall.
It's kinda sad this tradition didn't change in the future. The next king didn't seem to be involved anything outside the city or palace either.
Only the emperor in the later years of each dynasty. The founding emperor's were all men of great abilities
I'm confused because isn't Bumi also an Earth King?
@@TheBombasticFatRatI think his titles an elected one. When Aang knew him as a kid he didn’t seem to be a prince. Bumi probably got to live a well-rounded life before becoming king.
Makes me wonder if there are any other kings lurking around the earth kingdom that we never met.🤔
You two are not ready for this finale.
or for the next season
nope not at all
No they are not...but we are
No they are not...but we are
Originally, the writers thought of making the Earth King either a really young boy, or a really fat man.
In the end, they decided to go with just a normal looking guy.
Who happens to look like the Chinese emperor at a younger age.
Fun thought
The earth king thought sokka was the avatar because if aang had lived out his life in his time, the next avatar would have been water tribe, probably close to sokkas age
Dude that’s so smart! Yeah!
....Oh, damn, I never caught that. Makes sense though. THe Earth King isn't stupid, just misinformed due to Long Fang's conspiracy. Makes you wonder what fake history they fed him about the past hundred years.
The Earth King would’ve assumed Sokka over Katara because Long Feng had just said, “Make sure the Avatar and his friends never see daylight again.” So he knew the Avatar was one of the boys.
I would like to point out that ATLA was ahead of the time. When it came to like Zuko having a physical sickness from a stressful mental breakdown. I love the symbolism from the dream that he has with the dragons.
9:50 Zuko: “what’s happening to me?”
Iroh: “you’re going through a metamorphosis. You have to sweat out the evil.”
Sweat the devil out of it
The soldiers aren’t being jerks, they are following orders from their king, who was told by long Feng, that they were anarchist pretty much wanting to overthrow and harm the king. Had the soldiers known the truth they wouldn’t have attacked they would have walked him up to be with a king.
Just in case anyone is still curious: the reason 4 teenagers were able to completely demolish the dai li AND royal guard is due to the fact that for a LONG TIME they haven’t seen any combat. The whole city is on lockdown because of Long Feng, so all those soldiers and secret police have never had to defend the palace. Not only that, but they’ve never had to deal with an aerial threat, so it’s easy for Appa to just roll up.
Zuko got a moral compass and his immune system rejected it
That Azula reveal is the perfect way to end the episode 😂 like "oh fxck, here we go" 😂
The symbolism and foreshadowing in this episode is amazing! It makes me so happy how invested you guys are in this show and how thoughtfully you guys talk about it!
The twists at the end were crazy. Your reactions were great!
[checks Patreon to make sure they're at least to 3x9]
Fever dream Appa and Momo cosplay, you say? 👀
Some of the things they say while watching are downright prophetic and it's amazing.
Makes me think of the episode Nightmares and Daydreams.
Besides the fever dream cosplay, a Katara and Toph or a Kyoshi cosplay would be another one
the way aang uses his staff in earthbending is so cool to me.
this is basically ancient times in a divided world and generations have passed since the avatar was seen. the airbenders are literally extinct. ofc they arent gonna know he's the avatar lol. to them, he's just a bald little kid until he starts bending multiple elements.
So the two dudes paid to kidnap Toph sent that letter to her, but Long Feng intercepted it, and when they do actually kidnap her they’re both like in the rafters, right? They’ve been in the city potentially weeks at this point, which means those two sent that letter and immediately went to hide in ambush, assuming it was received by Toph and she could arrive any minute. So they’ve been crouched in those rafters waiting for an ambush for literally weeks.
2:47 "That cosplay would look like a fever dream"
7:04 a literal fever dream
Whatever would it look like if there was a fever dream with apps and momo in it? Just imagine it
The guards are not being jerks. They are defending the royal palace from a group of kids trying to invade. Fighting the avatar is a bad idea? Well, what good would they be if they abandoned their post and their king as soon as danger arrives?
Okay I need daily Avatar 😂 love these reactions
Zuko has a really interesting family history and character arc. can't wait !!!!
Guys, don’t cosplay until after you see season 3, episode 9, trust me!
just watched it last week on patreon
I once went through something like zuko did. It's an actually studied even though I can't remember what it's called. But I used to be a pretty, bad person. And I found spirituality and I made a choice to better myself. And got sick for like three days just like zuko did. This happened before I ever watched this show.
That’s amazing, thanks for sharing about your journey. People who have never made these major growth changes don’t understand how intense they can be. The physical reflects the mental/emotional (soul) but the mental/emotional will resist being submitted to the spirit, though it needs to be to keep ego in check. It’s all connected.
The guy who voiced the Earth King, Phill Lamarr, was also Samurai Jack and Hermes from Futurama.
I will die on the hill that Zuko is the most well written fictional character in any media I don't care what anyone has to say about it
Ok at the thought of the Appa and Momo cosplay I had to pause because I was laughing so hard at the mental picture.
2 episodes in one day! Amazing!
The way this episode ends is so chilling. I remember watching it for the first time being like "OMG it's them!" and of course remembered right away how we last saw Azula battling with the Kyoshi Warriors.
I was going to save the finale for tomorrow but I can't help myself. hahahahaha.
not gonna lie guys, watching yalls reaction has made me want to sub to paramount+ just to rewatch the avatar on my own time because i literally have forgotten how much tension gets built up during these later episodes of season 2. 😭😭😭
Surface to air rocks are also called,, regrettably, SARS.
They get their name from the real weapon: surface to air missiles or "SAMS".
3:08 animation mistake, there's a copy of Zuko's swords on the floor before he drops them...😅😂😂😂😂
This is my favorite episode of the show
And now you see just how badass the Aang Gang has become. The battle scene is epic!
The palace grounds are located in the center of Ba Sing Se, and is the military and spiritual center of the entire Earth Kingdom.
The action sequences in this episode are simply epic.
Zuko's crisis has parallels with Iroh. Iroh was a very different person before his son died. That set him on a different path from the rest of his family, so he knows what Zuko is going through. I think Iroh actually traveled to the Spiritual Realm to have his crisis. Don't quote me on that.
Trust me, having sight when in motion in a vehicle without safety restraints doesn't help at all.
Can't wait for the book 2 finale its going to be SICK!!!!
1:19 Aang's mood be like: enough of your s#!£. Another great sequence people
12:32 kind of the same thing the fire nation wants: control of the remaining things
Man when you actually make a good decision and your own body rejects you
Think why many RUclipsrs get upset at Bae Sing Sae is that they have to go through the same metamorphosis as Zuko when it comes to their ideologies when noticing the correlation, but most go right back to Lake Lugoai after the cognitive dissonance kicks back in
We are the Earth King's humble servants
The blue dragon represents Azula and the red dragon represents Iroh like an angel and a devil
to me toph is the forever mvp of team avatar
Ah yes, the beginning of Zuko’s *angst coma.* Good times…
I _really_ hope you replayed a certain Maple quote from your channel's Book 1 reactions in the next episode. 😄
which one?
@@Diegesis A particular quote Maple made earlier that _might_ involve Toph in the reaction that comes after this. Not that it matters much at this point, but I'm already spoiling by saying _this_ much.
its not a spoiler, they're already on book 3 of korra
Riding bareback 😭😭
4:06 Yeah bud, question literally the most important person in your world.
it always tickled me that zuko was such a little turd that doing the right thing one time sent him into a shock coma lol
This gonna get crazy I just know It I watched this when I was a kid
Its gonne be so lit wait until the finale & we get to szn 3 cant wait to watch yalls reaction!!
Next one will be AAAAWESOOOOOOOME !
Yay two eps in a row .
brad philpot a neutral Lol😂😂
I do not understand how someone who is clearly invested in this show, gets to the amazing, action packed palace invasion scene, and then barely pay attention while discussing makeup and stuff. I'm baffled.
cause theyre not invested for the combat. they're not boys
@@Diegesis I guess. It just seems tantamount to watching Steven Universe, but muting the songs. Or watching Gravity Falls, but not caring about the mystery.
No cause I don't think the combat is the heart and soul of the show. The relationships and the life lessons are. The combat is garnish. And again they're not boys with A bunch of testosterone in their systems
🔥❤️ I will want to be a water bander
Remember the dragons from Zukos dream and the view of Aang he saw in his reflection, they’ll kinda come back around in the next book
lot of aanger you say?
Pack mal Jason in den Ninja Creami
👍🏾
WAZAAAAAAAAA
After this y’all should watch one piece, lets talk about it
Too long
that's a life sentence.
Does zuko have eboy hair? Or do eboys have zuko hair? Hmmm?
Can we address the entire ba sing se army was taken down by 4 children
Terra Team was taken down by two girls so...
@@thiagohayashi9936 They were scrubs and we all know it
To be fair one of those children was the Avatar AND an Airbending master. I'm pretty sure you can rank Katara and Toph as Masters by this point as well. Sokka was also there.
i wouldn't use "the entire ba sing se army" it was just the kings guard...
@@consistentlystupid4726 I would not count Soka. No bending and all... (By Toph)
Last episode Maple mentioned something about a sucking all the air out of the lungs of people it's pretty funny that she called that because it does happen and Cora but the reason why aang won't do that is because it's a forbidden technique they're not allowed to do that as monks there is a theory that monkey also when he was found surrounded by fire bending soldiers there's a theory that he killed all those fire benders by doing that technique sucked all the hair out of their lungs. But yes that that technique does exist hang in the monks aren't allowed to do it one of the villains in the next series legend of Korra does it and it's pretty f****** cool
Dude?! Spoilers!! Don't do that.
Earth bending ALLL DAY. Especially if you can get to toph levels you are fr op
