But Bubba's history in Dead by Daylight turned out to be such a big icebergб I had to spend about 5 days just studying it. It's gonna be a sad story. What I'm wondering is what Kate's perks wouldve been if she had been released with Bubba, cuz most Surv + Killer dlcs they have perks that counteract eachother. None of Kate's perks really counteract Bubba's.

Also want to mention that in the official game portrait for dbd on all platform stores, it includes all the original characters accept billy. It has trapper, wraith, nurse, huntress and hag. No billy.

I joined dbd about 5 months ago and bubba was my 2nd killer i bought. I was so disappointed to find out why the masks were taken away. Such a uniqie thing for the killer, ruined by a toxic community.
Being punished for using your power well isn't just an old dbd issue. The Twins have had that ever since 4.7.0 where it's more punishing to actually hit your pounce than miss it, not to mention all the extra time Charlotte takes to wake up after you switch back
Victor hit cooldown its bulls**t FR, plus the register of kicking victor sometimes its even weird and survivor kicks you no matter what

I’ve been on such a TCM tear recently that I forgot people still talk about Bubba in DBD 😭 I was confused about the title until I clicked on the video

i think bubba was just rushed when he was first worked on because of how similar he is to billy.

Awesome breakdown and video from start to finish. Absolutely amazing my friend. The 1 issue I still have with Bubba is that not too long after they released his rework, they bugged his Carburetor Tuning Guide addon. Which is a shame because it used to be so much fun with iri flesh. Now for the first few seconds of the chainsaw dash, you actually move slower than the survivor. It's been a bug for literal years now and have no clue how they haven't fixed it.
Old bubba was only good with play with your food. And bhvr said to dbd release bubba was planned but to this time they dont have the money for the license. He was also bugged since twins release and they half fixed him. But several addons doesnt work really intended as they should.
seeing old bubba's tantrum brought back a bit of nostalgia. I personally liked it better.
although what you said about billy is unfortunately true, I still find him more appealing than bubba. bubba has a very small learning curve in order to play him, while billy, you will lose games after games after games trying to learn him, but learning billy I feel like is more of a payoff than bubba. plus, once you learn billy's basekit saw, you now have to learn his addons that change his saw (engravings), so you're essentially back to step one, losing games. when you've fully mastered him, not only are you one of the 5 people that play him, but you'll realize how strong he still is.
TLDR: I just find billy more fun than bubba
I agree. Hillbilly is hard, but if you practice with him, he can be really effective. Even if you don’t try to chainsaw down, Billy can run around the map and create pressure for survivors.

I main Bubba since 2019 and In my opinion the most interesting part of this Killer starts from Patch 4.1.1. He got the rework and 4.1.1 Version was the best version of Bubba. Why? In patches 4.1.0 to 4.4.0 (Twins Release) Bubba had different acceleratino code on Chainsaw Sweep. He was reaching max speed ALWAYS after 0.6 seconds and it was very good for him. Since TWINS DLC he got massive shadow nerf, because BHVR changed acceleration code to "Reaches max speed after 60% of his first Charge". What does it mean? 1) At base kit he needs 1.2 seconds to reach max speed, and every duration addon (expect 4 tokens) increases this acceleration and that's why Carburetor Tunning Guide was bugged for 2 years and Chili addons have "hidden" penalty.
I would love to play 4.1.1 Version of Bubba with good acceleration...

@@SireK0zy There are more interesting things about Bubba's changes. For example since Twins DLC his cooldown after successful Chainsaw Attack was 3 seconds instead of 2 seconds (fixed 1 year ago March). Carburetor Tunning Guide was bugged since Twins DLC and they fixed it in Patch 7.1.0.
Now Bubba can recharge his tokens during a Chainsaw cooldown (cooldown, not Tantrum). And very interesting part: with Twins DLC when Bubba got destroyed, he got "Chainsaw Sprint" category in Bloodpoints. It should be aviable just for Hillbilly. Now Bubba can get Chainsaw Run (his own) and Chainsaw Sprint (Billy).

You had me for the entire video until the end when you talk about them taking out the masks because people were harassing black streamers. I am black, I don’t think other black people should be harassed in this way by people that find it funny.
I don’t blame behavior for taking it out, no one wants to join a game to be harassed for their skin color in a game where it shouldn’t matter. I think it’s a a few bad eggs ruin the bunch situation. Instead of calling out the company for taking a stand against their player base using cosmetics/add ons in unintended ways (and the fact that they were targeting black people to harass for fun…), understand that in this case they’re trying to make sure everyone can have a fun time when they play the game.
I enjoyed this video it was very thorough so keep up the good work 😊
I'm sure there's other ways to deal with this situation besides removing stuff. Remember when people used to hump survivors as Bubba by spamming his Mori animation? They didn't fix it by removing moris from the game. They just removed spamming. Of course with the masks it's not that easy but again: you're a big creative company. You could at least try and find a way to deal with this situation without blatantly grabbing taking away cool stuff from us.
PS: just in case, I think it's super clear from this vid that my opinion on people who used to use the masks for harassing black streamers is super negative. So IDK how anyone could think otherwise
@@SireK0zy it’s just weird to criticize their response to racism my guy. Idk why you wanna die on this hill so badly, but the masks are cosmetic and do nothing to affect the gameplay. Behavior taking them out of the game in this context protects the people that play their game from being targeted in this way; because they can’t access it to harass people. A win is a win.
If it’s being used to harass a specific group of people purposefully with the intent to bring focus to their race then that’s kinda f*cked up to allow it to continue to happen knowingly. But you frame it like by them taking it out of the game they’re bowing their heads to bullying instead of how they’re trying to prevent this type of bullying altogether.
Is there a community of black dbd players complaining that the mask used to harass black streamers were taken away? No. Why? Because they would have been the targets and dealing with those people should they happen to find out they are black.
Regardless of if there are other ways to deal with the situation, making a stand to remove the content to avoid it being misused in this way is an “a few bad eggs spoil the bunch” situation; meaning those racist people caused this problem. And for some reason you’re criticizing behaviors solution to prevent harassment in their attempts to allow everyone in their player base equal opportunity to have a good time.
Even you realized you went hard in the paint about it in the video and made a comment clarifying that you’re not trying to cause drama by saying what you said the way you said it. It’s giving “I liked the masks and think they’re super cool I just don’t want content taken away from me regardless of how it’s being used by some ppl in the dbd community to harass other people in the dbd community”.
I have no problem with differing opinions. I never said you agreed with the people camping black streamers. All I did was explain that your opinion at the end made the video end in a weird tone, but complimented your work on this video as a whole. Not all feedback you receive is a person telling you that you’re wrong and need to change. Just giving a perspective you may not have heard is all. The end result is less people in the player base got harassed and you seem to be overlooking that glaring fact and focusing way too much on the other ways they COULD have dealt with it.
I actually understand why the wiki listed that as a buff at 13:52. Before the rework, Bubba players have the issue of "charging the chainsaw to down someone only to not use it because you are 1 PIXEL away from full charge(even though the bar showed that it's already full), so the game cancelled the chainsaw sweep"
I know this feeling well because it happened A LOT.
One of the old Bubba's limitations is actually a decent idea to mitigate camping;
If too close to a hooked Survivor (or a recently unhooked Survivor for a few seconds) then hitting anybody with the chainsaw could trigger full tantrum automatically.
This would make it so Bubba will at best manage a trade if he camps.
Wait, old bubba limitations? But it was never a thing with the old bubba. Or are you trying to say something else?
@@SireK0zyIn the past, Bubba essentially couldn't team-down and would go into cooldown after a single down with his chainsaw because of his minuscule chainsaw sweep.
I say that the concept as an anti-camping measure has merit. Any Killer with insta-downs can camp effectively but only Bubba can down the rescuer _and_ hit the unhooked twice to down them again.
Punishing Bubba for camping by limiting his insta-down to one person would even things out to some extent.
@@Skillfulstone While this is true, Bubba is also the only killer who can down multiple healthy survivors in quick succession (as far as I can think of, at least). Limiting his insta-down to one person would take away one of the things that defines Bubba as a killer - and the fact he can hit multiple survivors so quickly also dissuades people from coming in to tank hits for injured teammates. I agree that Bubba needs a nerf to his camping potential, but removing his ability to insta-down multiple people isn't the right way to go about it, at least in my opinion.
@@kaypi125 This measure would deactivate during endgame, but a camping Bubba is just poison for the game on both sides. It literally just ends the game for the person on the hook and effectively makes the Killer go afk until the Survivor dies, boring for everyone involved.
When the (false) rumor that Bubba was leaving the game went around, a lot of people were _happy_ about it.
Let that sink in: This playstyle is so bad for the game that people would rather the game _lose_ iconic content than have to deal with it. Even Killers that do this can't call this "fun" unless they are just lazy sadists (or a content creator that does this because it's part of their brand).

I know the 5.5.0 removal of the og survivor masks were likely a "good" move. I still miss my leaderface for bubba.

They are very hard to use correctly, with probably the most unstable hitbox in the game, leading to most hits and misses to be almost inexplicable on both sides.
Similarly to Dull Merchant, their only efficient playstyle relies on a boring and borderline toxic pattern. The Twins excel at slugging and camping as opposed to gen defense however. Making for _very_ boring matches where Survivors would often spend a lot of time on the ground and bleedout deaths were commonplace.
Twins is by far the most unstable Killer, even nowadays they are riddled with game-breaking bugs that will probably never get fixed (at least until BHVR's rework that was mentioned years ago) due to the Killer's abysmal pickrate.
@@Skillfulstone You forgot to mention that you have to wait through, what was it 10 seconds of stuns if you want to hit a survivor as Viktor and immediately switch to Charlotte? I just know it is something ridiculous.
Then there is the fact that not only do you simply miss with a bad hitbox, you risk getting kicked in the face... Even after you regain control of Viktor. Which, I imagine the kick feels terrible, a real insult to injury type deal.
@@SireK0zy Also, for my quote specifically: Victor's missed Pounce has a 3s vulnerability window. Pounces resulting in downing a Survivor has a 5s vulnerability, making it much easier for grouped-up Survs to kick Victor and immediately start to heal up the downed Survivor, which could be back on its feet before even reaching it with Charlotte if Victor wandered a bit too far off.

You probably won't read this but I just want to say, that I feel like the Claudette face for Bubba, was going to be controversial from the beginning, it's black face no matter what, and kind of racist in that way. I think it was inevitable to be removed, I feel like they shouldn't have put it in there in the first place. But I do agree with you that the trolls not being banned or punished in anyway was bad. Anyway great video and I love your work. ❤

of course i will wdym. :3 ngl i didn't know about black face back in the day when they introduced those faces. but when i learned... yeah it kinda felt weird. honestly dude, would it kill them to give bubba a dedicated survivor and make their mask unlockable after 25 kills? this survivor doesn't have to be black and this way it wouldn't be black facing. and it also wouldn't make BHVR look weird because they didn't just remove the black mask while leaving the rest in the game. this way they woudl actually remove all masks and give bubba a brand new one that wouldn't be black.
Bubba's strongest ability is to set up 3 gens and camp hook's at the same time.
3 gen ? He's not skull merchant though. There's nothing about his power that makes him that much better at 3 genning than others. Even Hillbilly had more 3 gen potential because of his speed

Release Bubba was a joke. Keep in mind, infinite loops were still very much a thing during this time so he was about as threatening as a wet kitten. I think that's where the memes about Bubba's being cute started.
But there was absolutely no gameplay to reason to pick him over Hillbilly.
On mobile bubba was able to chainsaw hlf way across the map but now he hardly makes anything unless that's me

@@SireK0zy I play mainly killer on sea version and global mobile n yes I could easily chainsaw a fair bit of distance even with no add ons but now I feel I've got to be really close to down them
Alot of things are better on mobile for me ...example I couldn't ever play blight on reg dbd or huntress but I feel having a touch screen makes the game easier to manage for me personally . South East Asia version is more advanced than global though only killers it doesn't have Is resident evil chapter and the very latest characters season 10 but global is season 4 kinda doesn't make sense thought it would be the other way around.old dead hard n boil over etc Aswel and game chat 😉 spirit can still body block windows too 😉 ( unless that's my imagination 😉) tbh mobile has come along way since it was updated

this killer still needs a basekit buff on chainsaw, it should give him a slight speed increase like .25 as well if the survivor drops a pallet bubba should gain one charge back after destroying the pallet. most loops u still really can't even get survivors even when u double back. killer needs a buff still with chainsaw cause lets face it ONE damn stun is a free out of jail card its really dumb. bubba needs to be better around loops still.
I kinda I agree with the charge thing. But I wouldn't give him charges back after breaking something. Just don't take away my charges when I run into obstacles. Having to go through Tantrum is already enough of a punishment. As for loops. I could agree with this if I saw this comment several days ago . But just yesterday I came across a random channel where someone uploads bubba flick montages. And trust me what that person does makes bubba look s tier in loops. It's absolutely insane. Just requires time and effort.

I played Bubba for a while when I was new to DBD. Though I was starting to lose matches more and more because he took forever to get around maps. So I went back to Hillbilly so I could run around the maps. Bubba is decent, but I still prefer Hillbilly

as much as I agree that behavior's monetization can be awful, this theory doesn't make any sense. you look at ANY video around the time before and long after his rework , everyone tells you to there is one essential killer to buy for one perk. bubba for barbeque and chili. there must have been way more sales for the chapter for that perk and how needed it was at the time. behavior wouldn't really need to make billy bad to sell this. and if your theory was correct, why would they remove the bp bonus from barbeque? so less people buy bubba? lol@@SireK0zy

The Bubba masks being gone is a shame. Imagine all the great memes we could've had, lost now. All because people are too sensitive. I miss the old CoD lobbies where you could say whatever and nobody got so offended. Sticks and stones may break your bones, you know the old saying... It's just a game at the end of the day.
