After the defeat of 1870, there was a reaction in favor of serious music as opposed to "opérettes" of Offenbach: sonatas, chamber music, symphonies could be written and performed thanks to tis reaction and to the "Société Natinal de Musiqe". In the symphonic domain, the pesent symphony in G of Lalo is one of the main manifestations to this rtturn to serious muusic. It has been somewhat forgotten since its first perdformance and eclipsed by the "symphonie espgnole" with its virtuoso solo violin and its spanish tune, but it is a dense, well built and orchestrated symphony with interesting melodies and harmonies. It deserves to be brought to light again. Thx for posting it.

C'EST JUSTE MERAVILLIOSE LE MUSIQUE FRANÇOIS !!
Orquestacion digna del compositor, que asoma desde ya con su opera El rey de Ys.
This symphony is an angry cuss!, comparable to Mahler's 6th and Rachmaninoff's 1st.
