Generally, in graph theory, syllabus will not be given in detail. But in the examination, any related definitions, ( or types of graphs) can be asked. So, it is better to be aware of all types. For your information, Graph connectivity is there in syllabus.

You said component is a complete graph so if there is only vertex left how can you consider it as a component as it has no edge to any other vertex
