  • Railroad crossing compilation video of crossings with Federal Signal Corp Western Cullen Division Mechanical Bells. Only one crossing here doesn't have a FS Bell anymore which is F Street forgot to mention that in the video. Post WRRS, FS Mechanical Bells were a thing in the Mid 1970s especially which from my Knowledge were heavily used on SP lines before most were replaced by WCH Mechanical Bells. I know other railroads used them just sure which ones by heart. This bell is rare to find unless you go off the main line to spurs and branches where the former SP ones mainly hide out here in California. By the late 1970s, FS was bought but I believe still branded FS on the Bells till the 1990s.

Nice! I heard FS bells were only made for like 1-2 years. Though some WRRS bells are FS branded.

Thanks! FS bought out the company that bought WRRS in the 1970s. This means actually some FS Bells are WRRS Branded and didn't start showing FS until 1975 shortly before becoming WCH. Since WRRS is before FS.

Nice compilation! Federal Signals Mechanical bells have always been interesting to me, and they are really hard to find nowadays.
I noticed you changed the font style on your videos again. In my opinion, it looks weird and is a little hard to read. I myself preferred the other font. (I AM NOT RECOMMENDING OR REQUESTING YOU TO CHANGE IT BACK)
Also, the thumbnail is nostalgic, as it remind me of your older 2018 videos.
    Also, something I found:
According to Google Maps (I was looking for fun), the WCH E-Bell at the 3rd Street crossing in Wheatland on the UP Valley Sub was replaced to a GS Type 3 E-Bell. Could be useful if you ever get a change to go out there again, and/or if you plan on making a UP Valley Sub crossings compilation.

Thanks! Well that changes my plan on making a compilation video now. I have no plans of going that way anytime soon up the Valley to dead out there on that line and other problems. Everything has to line up like last time for me to go out that way again as I don't want a day I get no or 1 train all day as it sets back my backlog of videos and catches that week.

@@MobileRailSpotterRxRI understand your frustration. I guess if the Valley Sub gets low train traffic, then it would be hard to film trains at other crossings out in Lincoln as well. Wheatland is very far from Sacramento, though.
When 4th Street's signals were replaced, you had to go out there, so a simple bell replacement isn't a big deal. But you didn't mention in the video about the WCH E-Bell being replaced so I assumed you didn't know about it. I look on Google Maps outside my state along train lines & crossings often, and since Wheatland is a small neighborhood, this change was easy to find.

You can find a good few in use here in the southeast on Class I mains, you just have to know where to look, lol. The SCL and L&N used them a decent amount, it seems.

Nice vid. was that first clip filmed recently? I'm curious since I know the Woodland branch was closed, Im wondering if Sera still operates on the first part of the branch there before it reaches the weir.

Thanks! That was a few years ago. Although, that section of the line is still used all the way west to under I-5 where they unload products onto trucks off Old River Rd.

Thanks! Been taking a break from all the editing with compilation videos as I got tired of editing a lot. Some of the compilation videos I got tired of repeating making like the Railroad Crossing # and some other ones I was making sequel to. I do plan to eventually start back all of them and also will start doing crossing changes compilations also of crossings that have been changed some kind of way.
