Becoming a parent has a strange way of changing someone. And when a person is raised a certain way, they believe deep inside that the way their parents did it is how it is normally done. I don't blame Ariel for wanting to protect her daughter. She just needed to trust Melody to be able to handle the truth, which she didn't.

I don't think their parents know about their mermaid heritage. When Eric was about to get married to "Vanessa," the only ones who attended the wedding were Eric's royal court because it was on really short notice. So Eric, some priest and the royal court were the only ones who witnessed Ariel as a mermaid. And during Ariel and Eric's wedding, nobody but they seemed to know about Triton and his daughters' presence. And during Melody's christening, the only humans present were once again just Eric's royal court with a few additional sailors and some soldiers. So it was probably very easy to keep Atlantica's existence a secret given that the secret was only known to the royal court. The guests at Melody's party were most likely local inland nobles and foreign royal representatives who had no idea about the incidents with Ursula and Morgana since they weren't there to see it.

I believe that Melody would've been interested in the ocean regardless. Also, during 'For a Moment,' Ariel wanted to tell her about the ocean. So in some ways, it was a missed opportunity for the two to bond.
I think that Ariel should have learnt from her father's mistakes, allowing her daughter some freedom to visit her family in the ocean. However, she needed an explanation of who/what/where/how/why was so dangerous. It would have removed the excitement and thrill of the ocean, while still giving her daughter what she wanted.
Ariel was trying to protect Melody from Ursula’s sister as she threatened to feed her to that shark. Just like King Triton tried to protect Ariel from humans which I believe how Ariel’s mom died.
@@JessFirefox It is a cute movie, but it is also pretty bad. The animation quality is inconsistent, the songs are forgettable, Tip and Dash should not have been in the movie and the movie relies too much on callbacks to the original. They should have focused more on the family drama and show Ariel having more concerns for Melody. It also has a handful of plot holes. Like, why was Ariel searching for Melody in the ocean when she didn't know she had become a mermaid? Also, I don't like how Melody wears her undergarments while swimming. She should've just been wearing a one-piece swimsuit and a tube top as a mermaid. I also would have preferred that the villain was Ursula returned through the use of some horcrux-like magic. Ariel's logic: "The truth didn't keep me away from danger, so I'll just lie to my daughter. I'm sure that will have no negative consequences of any kind whatsoever." Ariel hasn't changed. Period.
I loved this movie as a kid, and I loved playing mermaids with my sisters too. I always thought the laughing was in Melody’s head because she heard some kids saying that the princess was “rather odd”. Yes, they did make fun of her when she was talking to Sebastian, but then again no one there knew anything about mermaids and honestly, the situation is a funny one when you look through the eyes of the target audience Disney was after. And Ariel, although I don’t understand why she just didn’t tell her everything, missed the sea and obviously this was a regretful decision made by both Ariel and Triton. I’m not saying that they forced Melody to Morgana, but her going to look into why the locket she found has her name on it, literally there could be some other explanation that Ariel could have made up, but she didn’t so that’s that. Ariel also could have told her the truth, or maybe even tell her stories about her adventures under the sea when Melody was little, but that isn’t how the movie went. I would have liked a more original plot but this was a pretty good movie.
In The Little Mermaid Threequell animated movie (not a prequel like Ariel's Beginning), Melody finally meets Ariel's Sisters with thier children, Morgana, Cloak and Dagger returns to take over Atlantica with re-avenging Ursula and after the Battle for Atlantica, Sebastian and Triton sacrifice themselves to save the Humans and Merpeople, Athena was alive to see her 7 daughters and Grand children with her own eyes after 20 years
Besides issues with being with other human who mocked Melody and Ariel’s fear the harmony of Morgona, what are consequences are caused of Ariel refusing to revel Melody’s mermaid heritage and forbidden her from going into the sea? Does it also affect Ariel’s heritage, too, for not being a mermaid for so long until when Melody becomes a mermaid?
Triton forbade Ariel from going to the surface for the vague threat of what humans MIGHT do. Melody was forbidden from the sea because Morgana (the sister of the sea witch Melody's father speared with a ship) specifically wanted to kidnap Melody. It's a bit of a difference lol 😅
The main reason is Solitude. Melody was lonely like her mother at her age, without any friend who could support her so that's why she wanted to explore the sea
It’s so crazy how she gets hated on, like she’s the exact copy of Ariel with some different traits, how do you hate her, while praising on Ariel, no hate to Ariel or anything jus her crazy stans
In The Little Mermaid Threequell animated movie (not a prequel like Ariel's Beginning), Melody finally meets Ariel's Sisters with thier children, Morgana, Cloak and Dagger returns to take over Atlantica with re-avenging Ursula and after the Battle for Atlantica, Sebastian and Triton sacrifice themselves to save the Humans and Merpeople, Athena was alive to see her 7 daughters and Grand children with her own eyes after 20 years
@Victoria N. Yeah. In the sense that she’s a stubborn and hardheaded teen just like Ariel was. Melody wants what she wants and will stop at nothing to get it, leading her to make dangerous choices without thinking. Just like Ariel did when she traded her voice to Ursula for legs without fully reading the contract.
@Vetarlit Torf Generational trauma is when someone is treated some way their whole life and passes it on to their kid. Which is exactly what happened to Ariel and melody. Like her father Ariel hides the truth from melody And forbids her from something. Because it was all she knew of how to deal with the situation.
@@kasumimidoriya3288 Triton didn't hide anything from Ariel. He was just xenophobic and disrespectful to her. Ariel was a much better parent than Triton. Her flaws only stemmed from never having a mother figure of her own and her father mistreating her. It was also because she was traumatized from Melody being almost devoured before her eyes. That added with Morgana's threat actually makes it understandable why Ariel put Melody's safety above all. Also, the lesson Ariel learns in the movie is that she can't completely protect Melody, all she can do is her best while nurturing her happiness.
That’s not it. She just wanted the barriers to go. Parents keep learning the hard way that the harder you ban something, the more your kids are gonna want it. Ariel literally did the same thing her father did.
It's not just because she felt out of place on land and didn't really have friends, she simply had a deep love and fascination of the sea in general, the same way Ariel did for land.
I identify those Ariel and Melody! It's like a switch-a-roo but they say like mother like daughter! But lately sometimes I wonder if Ariel would have a second daughter and Melody would have a little sister and her name would be Lyria and she would love to study the histories of Atlantica! She would be like Belle only she is the second daughter of Ariel and she would have red hair and pigtails! And as a mermaid she would have a beautiful yellow tail and the main reason why she likes yellow is that she read that the color yellow represents hope! The last thing Lyria wanted was to be a burden to her family and friends she couldn't ask her grandfather King Triton to uses Triton to turn her into a mermaid she just wished there was some other object that could make her mermaid anytime she wants and that's when Triton decided to give her a magic Crystal of transformation! And Lyria was about to unravel the mysteries of Atlantica and more! Even with the help of her mother Ariel or sister Melody and her six aunties as well! And I think they're going to make a new series for the little mermaid called The Mermaid magic mysteries! Pretty cool huh!? That would make a very brand new Little Mermaid cartoon would it not? And I could picture Lyria having a dream about her grandmother Queen Athena giving her a sign about what she is about to uncover!
I really didn't like this movie growing up. I just saw it as a bad direct-to-video b-movie. But now as an adult I can see they did something so different then what Disney had ever done before. I definitely appreciate the message more now then I did before.
....This whole video was like... Melody is Ariel's daughter. Melody has Ariel's traits. Melody didn't fit in so she rebelled. Melody didn't fit in so she rebelled. Melody has Ariel's traits and she didn't fit in so she rebelled. Melody disobeyed Ariel just like Ariel disobeyed her father which means Melody has the same traits as Ariel, leaving the safe castle to go to the sea because she didn't fit in so she rebelled. Who scripted this video?
Melody having Ariel's traits isn't even correct. Melody is a sassy tomboy with social anxiety disorder. Ariel is a spunky, free-spirited optimist. Honestly, Melody has more in common with Mulan than Ariel.
@@vetarlittorf1807 neither truly fit in but 1 would’ve been far more of a social butterfly type and she’s Ariel of course and then her daughter Melody not so much and maybe the whole fish outta water thing kinda better describes Melody more somehow than her originally a mermaid mother Ariel
@@noorbohamad5796 1. Neither truly fitted in, true. But unlike Melody, Ariel was not an outcast and she was sociable since she had friends and sisters to hang out with. That's why I say Melody isn't that much like Ariel. She was more like Mulan in the sense that she's an insecure tomboy. 2. Melody was sassy whenever she was in her comfort zone. Like when she teased Sebastian by reciting her parents' rules in a Jamaican accent. 3. I fail to see how Ariel was a tomboy when she always acted like a typical teenage girl, took great care of her feminine looks and I'm pretty sure a tomboy would not be in a "he loves me/he loves me not" game. Aquata is the tomboy of Triton's daughters, not Ariel. Melody, on the other hand, didn't seem to care much for her looks at all and was even less interested in "girly" activities and did not act like a graceful princess like Ariel did as she was more interested in physical challenges.
Ariel's lies only caused melody to be in great danger, it made melody unknowing and ignorant of the dangers that Morgana possessed, perhaps it's a good thing melody almost died, it would deter Ariel from lying to her daughter ever again
In The Little Mermaid Threequell animated movie (not a prequel like Ariel's Beginning), Melody finally meets Ariel's Sisters with thier children, Morgana, Cloak and Dagger returns to take over Atlantica with re-avenging Ursula and after the Battle for Atlantica, Sebastian and Triton sacrifice themselves to save the Humans and Merpeople, Athena was alive to see her 7 daughters and Grand children with her own eyes after 20 years
@@amylee8969 You are correct, but that's also the point, Because of Ariel's lies melody felt like a outcast/social pariah because she had a mysterious yearning to the sea, She was unaware a that Sea witch was after her, My point is that her lies did more damage that she could realise, Telling her daughter the truth would have been the lesser of two evils

We can believe TLM II ending is the bestest with care and friendship, We believe Melody's idea is Reunions in both worlds in one Kingdom with No sea witches, Melody can live on land with her parents, and she can visit the sea in Atlantica, that's why it's called prodigal family helping. Maybe Morgana had a different father? Maybe Ursula grew up with Morgana but when she was older she found out her mother once had an affair with the king of Atlantica and he was her real father?
Ursula and Triton were half siblings. Morgana and Ursula were probably half siblings as well. Not sure. All I know is Ursula and Triton share the same father.
So... Ariel switching from legs to a tail changes her DNA too? How come Melody can't change from legs to fins when she submerges her legs in water like other merfolk in other media
Because she's only a half-mermaid. She's a human with mermaid traits like immunity to temperatures, improved sight and ability to talk to aquatic animals.
i think those other kids had some gull making fun of the PRINCESS in her own castle. they were all likely nobles at best and i HIGHLY doubt their parents would have had the guts to talk to ariel or eric the same way their brats talked to melody because it would have caused them a LOT of political and social problems if they had. this is a ROYAL family we're talking about and you simply don't speak that way to royals, less of all while on their land.
So you saying that a princess is a child couldn't handle bullying by other kids and desire to be a mermaid because of that no I think.if that was the cause she could have a different hobby plus she was bullied because she loved going to the ocean and everyone knew that except for the perants
Plus I heard 0:52 of the video and to me you make sound like she lonely, bratty, and don't know that life is unfair......yeah no I don't think that's it demi-gods and thier descendants our drawn to the elements or what the gods control for there job for the universe to exist in one piece Precy Jackson is more connected to the water than land so is the little girl in.the movie plus they are both descendents of Persiden God of the Seas

Ariel's logic: "The truth didn't keep me away from danger, so I'll just lie to my daughter. I'm sure that will have no negative consequences of any kind whatsoever."
Ariel hasn't changed. Period.
it kinda also sounds like you’re accusing Ariel of projecting something onto her daughter
It is far too easy to repeat the mistakes of your parents when you become a parent yourself.

"Generational Trauma"
The main reason is Solitude. Melody was lonely like her mother at her age, without any friend who could support her so that's why she wanted to explore the sea
She’s definitely her mother’s daughter!
It’s so crazy how she gets hated on, like she’s the exact copy of Ariel with some different traits, how do you hate her, while praising on Ariel, no hate to Ariel or anything jus her crazy stans

@Victoria N.
Yeah. In the sense that she’s a stubborn and hardheaded teen just like Ariel was. Melody wants what she wants and will stop at nothing to get it, leading her to make dangerous choices without thinking. Just like Ariel did when she traded her voice to Ursula for legs without fully reading the contract.
@@amylee8969The only difference was that Melody wasn't going after a boy
Hurt people hurt people. And I'd rather be heartless than have my heart in pieces. I feel like that perfectly describes melodies mother
How does that describe Ariel? Keeping the truth from Melody was the hardest decision she made in her life.

Mary Poppins: Close our mouth Ariel we are not a Codfish(under her breath although a mermaid is a close second)
FYI both Morgana and Ursala are voiced by the same Woman the Late Great Pat Carroll.
working on a fanfiction for melody tbh. giggles
That’s not it. She just wanted the barriers to go. Parents keep learning the hard way that the harder you ban something, the more your kids are gonna want it. Ariel literally did the same thing her father did.
I been knew about this reason; and yet people stay hate on this movie. I mean people have their own opinions but give this movie some credit right?
Don't forget her uncle Urchin
Ariel HATED when her father was strict on her and then she became exactly what she hated about her father
I wanted to be a merboy when I was ten. I kept it under my hat for several years before I told anyone though.
Yes she should have at leat understood her daughter about wanted to go to the sea.
I really didn't like this movie growing up. I just saw it as a bad direct-to-video b-movie. But now as an adult I can see they did something so different then what Disney had ever done before. I definitely appreciate the message more now then I did before.
So when is the next episode of Hans Story coming out? It's been so long! Miss it.
....This whole video was like...
@@vetarlittorf1807 neither truly fit in but 1 would’ve been far more of a social butterfly type and she’s Ariel of course and then her daughter Melody not so much and maybe the whole fish outta water thing kinda better describes Melody more somehow than her originally

@@noorbohamad5796
Ariel's lies only caused melody to be in great danger,
it made melody unknowing and ignorant of the dangers that Morgana possessed,
perhaps it's a good thing melody almost died, it would deter Ariel from lying to her daughter ever again

The issue wasn’t that she lied. She just never told Melody the truth about her mermaid background…..or WHY she thought the ocean was dangerous.
@@amylee8969
You are correct, but that's also the point,
Because of Ariel's lies melody felt like a outcast/social pariah because she had a mysterious yearning to the sea,
She was unaware a that Sea witch was after her,
My point is that her lies did more damage that she could realise,
Telling her daughter the truth would have been the lesser of two evils
What if Morgona never tried to attack Melody?

We can believe TLM II ending is the bestest with care and friendship, We believe Melody's idea is Reunions in both worlds in one Kingdom with No sea witches, Melody can live on land with her parents, and she can visit the sea in Atlantica, that's why it's called prodigal family helping. Good thing Melody didn't give up her voice for her tailfins.
And she wasn't simping over a boy
But Ursula and Triton were siblings? So he had 2 evil sisters? I dont get it 🤣
Maybe Morgana had a different father? Maybe Ursula grew up with Morgana but when she was older she found out her mother once had an affair with the king of Atlantica and he was her real father?
@@vermiciousknid2456 no look at Ursulas back story. Its really sad, she basicly had no1... idk
Ursula and Triton were half siblings. Morgana and Ursula were probably half siblings as well. Not sure. All I know is Ursula and Triton share the same father.
That is only in the stage musical version of the little mermaid.
If she learned the Greek Epics, maybe she’d know the massive family drama she would face.

i think those other kids had some gull making fun of the PRINCESS in her own castle. they were all likely nobles at best and i HIGHLY doubt their parents would have had the guts to talk to ariel or eric the same way their brats talked to melody because it would have caused them a LOT of political and social problems if they had. this is a ROYAL family we're talking about and you simply don't speak that way to royals, less of all while on their land.
There should be a new sequel featuring both Ariel and Melody (Eric can be absent)

Melody is My Favorite Character. She is a Brave and Strong 12 Year Old Girl
Total clickbait.
Because the movie was practically the same story, that's probably why it got low ratings, and no other princesses had children.
