Make an Autonomous "Follow Me" Cooler - Part 2

- In this two part video series, we use an Arduino Uno to build an autonomous "follow me" cooler. The robot cooler connects to a smartphone via Bluetooth and uses GPS to navigate. All the electronics will be contained in the base so that other objects can be carried as well. In the first part, Davis explained how to build the base. In the second part, Aaron works on the electronics.

If you use a flyback diode for the motors, you won't have to worry about the motors accidentally producing current. You could then use a 5-volt regulator to power the Arduino with the lipo battery.

hello that is a great idea the same idea as the suitcase that follow you ! one question! is that possible to send the robot to a certain location and tell him to return from the application? like a path track?

Great ideas and videos! I have a question about this; I'd like to give this project a try but the location in which i want to use it the Cellphone reception is very poor.
Will that be a problem?
How are you connecting that USB 5V battery? Are you connecting that through the inline regulator and then using the 5v out of the board to power the bread board/accessories? Or are you using the battery to power the breadboard and then feeding the power into the Adruino/accessories from the board? Sorry for my confusion.

Hi the adafruit compass is discontinued and I purchased a different brand, would you be able to write a blog post about augmenting your code to fit other compasses?
Have you had any problems powering the Arduino with battery pack? Most seem to switch off if there isn't a certain amount of power drawn. I was hoping to power a small arduino project that way.
MrBryanhanna you may be better off wiring your own battery pack and a charging circuit if it's something complex or just wiring up a jst connector to a voltage regulator and plugging a Li-poly or a Li-Ion battery directly into that. If it's really dead simple, an alkaline battery box of appropriate voltage may even be the best option.

We have followed each and every step and connected each and every component but facing problem due to the use of neo ublox instead of PAM parallax gps.
Can u please tell us the required changes for using ublox neo gps in the program. We will be very greatful.

Do you need Blynk for the actual operation of the cart, or in other words, do you need a continuous internet connection?

my project base on gps system...detect location...follow me...and...your project...can it do the return-home-location?
If your using a bluetooth module, why not have the phone in hand log your gps location every 5 seconds and upload them to the coolers phone as waypoints. This will significantly lower the amount of crashes.
