Hey,
A ton of thanks! I have been looking for same comparison across the internet. It was very nice to see both being compared side by side. Changed my mind and now going with S30
I listened to audio on an audiophile pair of headphones (open back, neutral rating). Importantly I get a hearing test done every two years (for my job purposes), and my hearing is A1 (no issues). After listening and relistening to the S30 and S35, it was immediately evident that the S30 had a fuller, richer textured sound coming from them. The S35 had a more treble signature to it and sounded less rich and much smaller with a more subdued and leaner bass extension. They both visually look attractive, especially the S35, and are probably much more easier to place in a cabinet. Whereas the S30 is a big heavy meaty speaker, finding space for it in the front position is slightly more challenging. The sound dynamics of S30 are more like what you would experience in a cinema setting. They sound forward, large, and much more exciting, although the treble is much less pronounced. The E35 seems to be great with smaller sounds and lots of treble but a much smaller and less dynamic sound that seems more suited to late-night listening. The E30 has another issue though, I noticed that there was distortion when the incoming sound was extremely bass-heavy. The E35 is a great-looking speaker and more practical to install in small spaces, but it just has no excitement or presence. If you want the large cinema experience, the S30 will do a much better job. In my humble opinion, the S30 was the much better speaker for an immersive cinema experience. The E35 more suited to a bedroom environment or if you live in small apartments and you don't want to annoy your neighbors.
I have the S35 paired with the S60’s and HTS12. I went with the S35 because of the size constraints. When I get a new 77” OLED in 2 years to replace my 65” OLED, it will be wall mounted and I will get a new lower entertainment stand so I can fit the S30 but until then I am fully enjoying my S35 and my HT sounds really great. Thanks for the video!
The S35 Center Channel and a pair of S20's complete my from stage and I couldnt be happier!
Thank You so much !!
S35 is for better Voice (This is for what a center is there).
S30 has just a bit better bass. But If you have a 2/5/7.1 Setup, bass is not the work of a center, fot that you have a subwoofer.
So S30 if you just want to use it solo, like a "soundbar" for looking trash tv.
And S35 if you want to get the best for your surround setup.
Thanks for the comment, I almost bought the s30 for the bass, now I am sure that the s35 is the best option.
Not true at all.
S35 is for space saving only, s30 is better in any other way, that is more than obvious.
That's not true. The bass has to come from the center channel. The subwoofer should only play the deepest bass.
Why people are nagging about bass? It's a center speaker, eihter your fronts or sub provide bass enough!
The sound stage when sound pans across the towers to center and if it's laking bass it can sound weird ass he'll
When the gentleman is comparing the 2 speakers he mentions the s35 twice.
Best review on youtube bro. Thank you,
i got the s35 on black friday for 50% off. I haven't hooked it up yet. But i know peeps say the s30 has more bass. but i THINK nearly everyone high passes the center channels anyway at around 80hz. so i think the low frequency response is irrelevant.
I go based on what the manufacturer says the lowest it can go
@@CrashCarson14 Same here, this is why I chose to go with Polk Signature S55's and Just ordered a S30 center.
I don't have a sub as I don't want to deal with adjusting the sub constantly, and turning it on/off, the Signature series is very very good at bass production- Something like 35hz for the S55 and 42HZ for the S30- that is about 15hz lower than comparable speakers.
The S55 handle sub bass no problem and are able to shake the room, but my current Sony Center just can't handle low frequencies, so it ends up making the center feel hollow- even though the Sony sounds great- it just isn't punchy enough for the Polks.
I have Jamo S803's for the rear channel for the same reason- very good bass response and clean highs.
Another thing I like with the Polks is even though they deliver heaps of bass, they don't sound woofy or sloppy, but rather tight and direct- These are very under appreciated speakers!
@@wyvern4588 yeah I have the same polka up front and the Pioneer BS22s for surrounds. Works pretty good. And yeah good bass but not muddy or drowning. I don’t have a sub either and am debating on doing surround back, or front highs. No atoms receiver but I have a 9 channel one.
@@CrashCarson14 I got the budget friendly Sony DH790 just for atmos when I scored a set of sony height speakers for 75% off.
I would say Atmos not always a night and day difference, but when the media uses it well, it really fills the room- they usually use them for room noises, music tracks and some special effects like rain, thunder, wind and things flying by- but some media does a piss poor job of utilizing the height channel.
I don't get the feeling that sound coming directly from above me when they are working, rather it feels like the sound is coming from the whole front wall and around my sides- hard to explain but it's pretty cool.
Me honestly would just do a 5.0.2 setup like myself, move the surround sides to surround back, the rear channel does a good job of giving you surround sound, and all you need is a new receiver and some atmos speakers- Pioneer has some good ones right now for like $60.
@@wyvern4588 thanks!
Hi, quick question, can the S35's be used as wall mounted front left & right channels not just center?
Yes, S35 is a LCR speaker so you can technically use it. I have not tried it myself though, but should work.
Cheers!
I have S35 its good 👍
how does the signature series sound compared to Klipsch? I can't find a BestBuy with demo.
@Grim Stars - Depends on which line of klipsch you are looking for.. I had tried the klipsch 'reference' series (R620f) side by side with the polk signature (S55). Kept the polk and returned the klipsch. The reference series just sounded very harsh in my room - polk sounded more natural. My friend has the klipsch "Reference Premiere' and they are awesome, but will cost you a lot more.
HUGE difference! I wish they made a center with four 5 1/4s!
Thank you for the detailed analysis i am considering buying the s30 but the hole in my cabinet is only 19cm high i see on polk they say its 19.05 cm high is there a chance you can measure the height and confirm for me please
Polk S30 sounds better to me
I went with the s35 for the slim profile and for one other reason you didn't mention, a wider soundstage. If the few traditional center channel speakers I've tried, they all seemed narrow, in a tunnel almost. Good review overall. I love this series Polk made!
"Center"
I see so many people that look at the -3db point of the bass and set the crossover to that. Not a good move. First if your A/V receiver doesn't have individual cross over points probably time to upgrade. Second keep in mind that cross over point is not a hard cutoff, it rolls off. The subs are not going to take over at 39Hz if your mains are rated for 40hz -3db. You need overlap. Personally if the speakers -3db point is 40hz I go with 60Hz crossover and most of the time 80Hz. I have two subs.
more videos please
Yes will try to do a HTS 12 subwoofer review soon.
Hi,currently running Polk T series setup with denon1600,which is better upgrade among s30&s35.
For center channel upgrade only
I think I'm going with the Polk S35 because I have the polk powered 12" sub. My current center is the Polk Audio Blackstone TL1 Speaker Center Channel. I don't need the S30 for bass but I need the S35 the get a bigger center stage. I wish you would chop up the video with 5-8 seconds of one then the same time and scene going back and forth. It's better for comparison
Which better vocal in normal tv programs s30 or s35.....or not...???
S30 for sure I have the s35 it isn’t so loud but when it comes to details it’s great so I believe it’s best for surround, atmos specifically for the s35.
Can make video with vocal dialogues movie clips...And what is buy price.....
Both s30 and s35 retail for ~200 USD Sometimes goes for sale at 150 USD.
Good conclude
Do compared with csi A4
Witch one is better s30 or s35
Overall I preferred the S30.
s35
@@sridharraj007 sizce s30 mu yoksa s35 mi ses kalitesi güzel hangisi daha güzel sinama hissiyatı veriyor
Hy nice speaker but it's only center speaker playing or with others speakers
Are you playing only center speaker ?
Nope, was playing Left, Right and Center with Sub. Wanted to test how it works in conjunction with my current setup.
@@sridharraj007 okay thank you if possible please make a video only for the center channel.
@@karansinghthakur9028 sure. But I can only do it for S30. Don't have the s35 anymore. :)
What is your over all configuration of setup are you using S10 of sides?
@@karansinghthakur9028 sorry for the late reply. Had been away for a while. My setup is S55s for fronts, S30 center, HTS12 as sub, tsi100s for rears and atmos.
The Centre speaker is your surround system, so get a good one.
Thanks for the review 😀
S35 its good, ....clarity sounds
I have a s30 and its amazing
I have had the s30 now for about a month. So far I have been satisfied.
Hello, did you set it small or large?
I have the s35 i mite get another one just to use it for two channel atmos and get a s30 for center. S35 isn’t so loud and the s30 is a perfect fit to finish up my 7.2.2
Use 16 or 18 Gauge Wire not more then that by using 12 or 14 Gauge Wire will bring down the sound level an it should be less then 2 mtr
If its 16 / 18 gauge its superb sound even more than 4 mtrs wire length
S35 i think is softer and clearer
For my setup S30 was more clear. No matter what we do recorded videos don't capture/replicate hearing directly. So after trying different settings and repeating same dialog centric scenes on both gave an edge to s30 with my environment and setup.
s30 sounds bigger and dialog has more body but csi a6 is better than both at this price
S35 is muddy and will be muddier on Higher volumes and the bass is lacking, because it has a smaller driver and cabinet..
The clarity sounds better on the s35.
I feel the Bass is better in S30..
And your av receiver volume level....
I had maintained a constant AV receiver volume for these tests.
Get the Polk csia6 by far the best and most powerful Center from Polk
The s30 lot more defined an bass
The s35 sounds more clear for dialog
S35 has better clarity..S30 has better bass...
Sorry but both crap
Which other model is better at that price tag ?
