I'm creating my lightboard next week thank you for creating this I was wondering how to do this I own a promethean board so I thought this would be more useful
for the displayed image to be transparent is it necessary to be in PNG? or is there another format or specific program? I saw that your presentation was transparent with you leaving behind, just put a black background or do you have to do something else?
The video switcher we use is a Roland V-1HD. I am not sure what video capture device we have, but you can use any HDMI capture device. Just plug the output of the switcher into it. I also have a setup I made at home where I use a ATEM Mini. These are much cheaper. The only issue is that they can't flip the image. For that I use a physical mirror.
thank you so much for making this setup guide, could you please list more details, how overlay the light board and PPT, eg. Mix model, it's really helpful for me, hope your reply
That really comes from the camera. If you are using a webcam it probably won't be possible. I use a Digital SLR (Sony Alpha A6000). Lots of light on the subject, put dslr on manual mode and adjust speed and aperture.
We use a video switcher. But I want to be clear that the display is not actually on the lightboard. I interact with it only by looking at a large monitor (TV) that is on the other side of the room. This one shows the output of the switcher. The lightboard never actually has the presentation on it.
hi, just want to ask , it is possible if i do this setup and run it through Google meet, so the viewers can see the slide and me writing on the lightboard ?
Yes it is. This video was created on a LightBoard we built at my school. It is setup to only record on a USB drive. I made a cheaper lightboard at home that I use on Zoom all the time. How you do this depends on the video switcher you choose. I have not found an affordable switcher that does everything. The Roland switcher (roughly $1k) at school will flip the image and do presentation overlays at the same time, but does not do streaming. To stream with the Roland you would need to buy a separate HDMI streaming capture device like this: www.dvestore.com/rizer-usb-3-1-hd-video-capture-device-hdmi-for-livestreaming/. At home I use an ATEM Mini video switcher (roughly $300). This has streaming built-in (it looks like a webcam to your computer) it also does presentation overlays, but it does not flip the image. To flip the image at home, I just use a cheap camera lens that includes a physical mirror (www.amazon.com/Opteka-Voyeur-Olympus-Digital-Cameras/dp/B0027IGDSG). I prefer my setup at home because I can easily pause when recording and can use it on zoom, google meet, gather, etc. To see videos using my setup at home check out ruclips.net/channel/UCh0Ap-h01dZjLuEnrP-aGUA.
