Antananarivo, commonly referred to as Tana, serves as the capital city of Madagascar. Nestled in the central highlands of the island, it boasts a blend of colonial-era architecture and bustling markets. The Rova of Antananarivo, a historic royal palace complex, stands as a prominent landmark atop a hill overlooking the city. Additionally, visitors can explore various museums, such as the Andafiavaratra Palace, to delve into the country's rich history and cultural heritage.

Madagascar is the 3rd poorest in the world I was there last year there is not one signal light in all of Antananarivo or Tana and is dangerous at night after 8 .pm Even with my relations living there for over 30 years are scared to go out at night they always go together in two different cars following each other several times we were stopped by the Army and Police at checkpoints asking for money even with all documentation of the vehicle they directly asked for money I sincerely advice anyone to be very careful while visiting Madagascar the other thing is the roads are so bad millions of huge potholes all over Madagascar in Antananarivo or other cities like Mahajunga/Toamasina/Nosy be/Diego Saurez/Toliary or Moarundava and be very careful of Pick Poketiers they are all over operating in gangs
