    I have just watched several videos about removing tarnish using this method. You are the only one using the magic eraser and getting all of the tarnish off the silverware. This is the game changer. Thank you.

    I'm so glad I came across your video as I have 2 sets of silver cutlery each consisting of 40 pieces each and I was desperate to find out how to clean them. It looks easy and not time consuming. As you said, many people already have the products in their homes. So thank you a thousand times.

      My pleasure. thank you for the kind words. I'm so glad you found the video helpful. One last tip - once you have taken the time to clean and polish your silver pieces you want to keep them from tarnishing for as long as possible so I recommend storing them in sealed plastic bags. The chemical reaction between the air and the metal is what causes silver to tarnish over time so covering them in air tight plastic bags helps combat this problem. Just make sure to hand wash the pieces after every use and dry them well before storing them in the plastic bags.

      Thank you for the encouragement and kind words Angela. I'm glad you liked my video. The magic eraser is a neat trick that works like a charm. Your videos on your My Take on Home & Garden channel are a joy to watch. You guys have beautiful pieces. You inspired me to share my collection of European fine bone china dinnerware and tea sets. Can't wait to see your next video. Best regards from Finland :)

    This is great, there are companies selling an expensive aluminum plate for this purpose. Thank you for the idea. Be very careful with the magic eraser as it removes sliver from silver plate utensils. Dry the pieces with a soft cloth.

    Hey Mario that magic eraser was excellent. If you hold each piece and then make contact with the foil you create a weak electric current that then activates the process thoroughly cleaning the tarnish.

    Thank you for sharing. How would you buff the scratches out of your silverware?

    • @casacadenas
      @casacadenas  2 года назад +4

      Hi Anna, sorry for the delayed response. You can lightly buff the scratches off with very low grade sandpaper, however you really have to know what you are doing or you can ruin your silver pieces. I would recommend taking your scratched pieces to a silversmith who can do it properly.

    • @casacadenas
      @casacadenas  2 года назад

      Yes, you can do this with any silver or silver plated object provided you have a big enough vessel to fully submerge the whole piece in water.

    What does the salt do ?

    • @casacadenas
      @casacadenas  2 года назад

      Salt alone doesn't do anything. However, when salt, baking soda, aluminum foil, and water are combined, they create a chemical reaction known as ion exchange. During this process, the tarnish on the silver (silver sulfide) is converted back into silver, and the sulfide becomes aluminum sulfide on the foil.
