- Since the moment I plucked breadfruits, my brother gave me a hard time asking me to make a breadfruit pudding for him. So I asked him to buy half a kithul jaggery to make the pudding since he repeatedly reminded me. But his troublesome request for me to make the pudding increased since he purchased the kithul jaggery. This breadfruit pudding was once made by one of my aunts and due to its delicious richness, it is not a surprise that if someone is keep asking for it again and again!.
It is so suitable not only as a dessert but even as a tea time tiffin as well. Though I planned to make the pudding for the evening tea, the plans were delayed as suddenly next door Sister Nayana came and asked me whether I could make a colourful sweet as a party treat to keep on the party table for her little one's birthday that day. So I made a different coloured party treat out of breadfruit to be served for the birthday party that evening. Usually what I do is cut them into small thin strips and deep fry them but today I cut the breadfruit into thin slices to make them attractive for little ones. Cutting the slices into thin slices was the hardest part as it was very important to cut the breadfruit slices into equally thin slices for them to fry each slice evenly and consistently. Since I wanted the breadfruit to keep its precise shape, I carefully scraped off its skin by using a sharp knife. Alas! because of the next-door little one's party treat, I forgot the promise that I gave to my brother to make his favourite pudding. But my brother will never forget a food request like that and certainly not even his sleep. To confirm my thought correctly, he came looking for me in the evening. His face became so long when he saw that the pudding had not been made and yet his disappointment was fair as I promised him to make it. I just kept quiet about his complaining tone.
Those other breadfruits will definitely ripen within the next 2 to 3 days. Otherwise, the grandmother will make a breadfruit preserve with the leftover breadfruits. I could not escape from my next-door sister Nayana's request as well as my promise to make the pudding for my brother, so I asked my brother to finish off the final touches of the party treat so I could start to make his pudding.
Once the pudding was baked after pounding the breadfruit pieces into a paste and mixing them with kithul jaggery and other ingredients, the taste and quality of the pudding were amazing as one might wonder whether this pudding was made from breadfruit. I reduced the quantity of the kithul jaggery to the pudding to balance the sweetness as I already planned to drizzle the baked pudding top either with, kithul treacle or coconut treacle and besides one of the ingredients are dates as well. I baked 2 pudding cups for my brother as he loves this pudding.
Once I put the pudding for baking, my brother had already drizzled the sugar syrup on top of the breadfruit rings as the final touch for the party treat. The outcome of the golden brown deep-fried breadfruit fruit rings drizzled with radiant blue butterfly pea flower juice mixed with sugar syrup gave a grand festive look. My brother had done a neat job with the final touches too. Afterwards, I went and gave the birthday party treat to my next-door neighbour Sister Nayana and came home to enjoy the delicious breadfruit pudding. When I saw my brother's joyous and satisfied look on his face due to the deliciousness of the pudding, I remembered the genuine and joyful look on Sister Nayana's face when I gave her the party sweets as well. Actually, she didn't even open and check inside the sweets container at all. I always felt so privileged to think about the satisfaction and happiness of others after tasting our food even for a few moments. Even cooking for others is very strenuous, all that tiredness melts away when I see how happy others become after enjoying the truly loving and caring dishes that I cook for them everyday.

දෙල් කඩාගෙන ආපු දවසෙ ඉඳල දෙල් පුඩිමක් හදල දෙන්න කිය කිය මල්ලි පුදුම වදයක් දුන්නෙ. දකින දකින සැරේට මතක් කරනවා. ඉතින් මං පුඩිම හදන්න ඕනවෙන හොඳ කිතුල් හකුරු බෑයක් ගෙනල්ල දෙන්න කියල මල්ලිටම කිව්වා. දැන් ඒක ගෙනාපු වෙලාවෙ ඉඳල කරදරේ වැඩි වුනා. මේ දෙල් පුඩිම අපේ නැන්ද කෙනෙක් ඉස්සර නිතර නිතර හදනවා. ඉතින් ඒක එක සැරයක් රස බලපු කෙනෙක් ආයෙ ආයෙ ඉල්ලන එක පුදුම වෙන්න දෙයක් නෙවෙයි.
ඒක පුඩිමක් වුනාට අතුරුපසට විතරක් නෙවෙයි, තේ වෙලාවකට වුනත් ගැලපෙනවා. ඉතින් මං හවස පුඩිම හදන්න හිතාගෙන හිටියත් අල්ලපු ගෙදර නයනා අක්කා චූටි බබාගෙ උපන්දිනේ කියල මොනවහරි පාට පේන රසකැවිල්ලක් හදල දෙන්න කියල කිව්වා. ඉතින් මම වෙනදට දෙල් වලින් හදන රස කැවිල්ලක් වෙනස් විදියට හදන්න හිතුවා. වෙනදට නම් කරන්නෙ දෙල් පොඩි පොඩි තුනී කෑලි කපල ගැඹුරු තෙලේ බැදල ගන්න එක. ඒත් අද මම චූටි බබාලට ආස හිතෙන විදියට කලේ දෙල් ගෙඩිය රවුම් පෙත්ත විදියට කපල ගත්තා. අමාරුම වැඩේ වුනේ ලොකු රවුම් පෙත්ත එක ගානට තුනියට කපාගන්න එක. එහෙම එකම ගණකමට තුනී වුනේ නැත්නම් එක්කො එක තැනක් බැදිල වැඩි වෙනවා. නැත්නම් තවතැනක් බැදිල මදි වෙනවා. දෙල් පෙත්තෙ රවුම් හැඩේ හරියටම තියාගන්න ඕන නිසා මම දෙල් ගෙඩියෙ පොත්ත පිහියෙන් සූරල ගත්තා. ඒකෙන් මේකෙන් මට මල්ලිට දුන්න පුඩිමෙ පොරොන්දුවත් අමතක වුනා. ඒත් අපේ මල්ලිට නම් ඕක හීනෙන් වුනත් මතක් වෙනවා. මං හිතුව හරියටම හරි. හවස් වේගෙන එද්දි ගානට මාව හොයාගෙන ආවෙ...!, පුඩිම හදල නෑ කියල දැක්කම බලන්න එපැයි මූණ දෙක වෙච්ච හැටි. එක අතකන් මුකුත් කියන්නත් බෑ. පොරොන්දු වුනානෙ හදල දෙනව කියල. අනික දෙල් ටිකත් හෙට අනිද්ද වෙද්දි එක්කො ඉදෙනවා. නැත්නම් අත්තම්ම ඔය දෙල් ගෙඩි ගොඩ දැක්කම පෙති කපල දෙල් අටු කොස් දානව. මට පුඩිම නොහද ඉන්නත් බෑ. නයන අක්කගෙ වැඩේ මග දාල යන්නත් බෑ. ඉතින් මං අන්තිමට මල්ලිටම වැඩේ ඉතිරි කොටස බාර දුන්නා.
දෙල් කෑලි කපල අරගෙන පිටි වෙන්න කොටල කිතුල් හකුරුත් එක්ක අනෙත් කලමනා දාල බේක් කරගත්තම ඒ පුඩිම හැදුවෙ දෙල් වලින්ද කියල හිතන්නවත් බැරි තරමට රසයි. මං දෙල් මිශ්‍රණයට හකුරු අඩුවෙන් දැම්මෙ පුඩිම බේක් කරල අන්තිමට කිතුල් පැනි හරි පොල් පැනි හරි ටිකක් ඒකට උඩින් දාන නිසා කන්න පුලුවන් ගානට පැනි රහ සමබර වෙන්න ඕන නිසයි. අනික පුඩිම යටට රට ඉදිත් දානවනෙ. මල්ලිගෙ ආසාව නිසාම මම එයාට පුඩින් කොප්ප දෙකක්ම හැදුවා.
පුඩිම බේක් වෙන්න දාල බලද්දි මල්ලි දෙල් වලලු වලට සීනි උනුකරල දාලත් ඉවරයි. ලා රන්වන් පාටට බැදපු දෙල් පෙති වලට මුහුදවගේ නිල් පාට කටරොලු මල් ඉස්ම වලින් පාට වුන සීනි පැනි දැම්මම හරිම ලස්සනයි. මල්ලිත් ඒ වැඩේ ලස්සනටම ඉවර කරල තිබුනා. ඉතින් මං නයනා අක්කලගෙ දිහා ගිහින් ඒකත් දීල ඇවිත් අත්තම්මයි මල්ලියි එක්ක දෙල් පුඩිමත් රහ බැලුවා. දෙල් පුඩිමෙ රහ දැනුනම මල්ලිගෙ මූනට අපු සතුට දකිනවත් එක්කම මට මතක් වුනේ අක්කට දෙල් වලලු ටික දෙද්දි නයනා අක්කගෙ මූනට ආපු සතුට, ඇත්තටම නයන අක්කා ඒ කෑම පෙට්ටිය ඇරලවත් බැලුවෙ නෑ. අපේ අතින් හදන රස කෑමකින් තව කෙනෙක්ගෙ ජීවිතේ එකම එක පුංචි මොහොතක් හරි සතුටු කරන්න පුලුවන් කියන්නෙ, ඒක ලොකුම ලොකු භාග්‍යක් කියලයි මට හිතෙන්නෙ. ඉතින් කොච්චර මහන්සියෙන් කෑමක් හැදුවත් ඒ සතුට දකිද්දි හිත නිවෙනවා. තව තව කෑම හදන්නත් හිතෙනවා.

To make it easier, maybe drag the fried fruit through the syrup while the syrup is hot so it gives a more even coating and is easier to do. Just my thoughts.
