    I am learning a lot from your videos. I am just wondering if you are able to do video on feed formulation for those of us who want to try to make our own feeds for our cows. Thank you so much in advance.

    If I am producing more hydroponic fodders than what my cows consume in a day and it is likely to spoil if it reaches the next day please how would I keep it unspoiled?

    Pls the problem is sillage do we have quality sillage that can be sold in small quantities

    • @dairynetworks
      @dairynetworks  2 года назад

      The problem is as a farmer can i produce and ensile enough to last me upto zhe next harvest. If this option isn't viable can i source maize when its on season in the neighbourhood.
      The silage sellers are enterprenuers and their opportunities is whenever farmers fall short of fodder plan.
      Take away advice, fodder plan is key in dairy farming

      Quality maize silage will only yield 7-12 litres per day for a good dairy genetics.

      in cows nutrition its Fodder/pastures then supplementation. in reference to mbogori dairy that we have been consulting for the fodder options is TMR of maize silage + sweet potato veins + hay + pannicum. The target is to optimize on carbohydrates, protein and fibre.
      Phase 2
      its on supplementation whereby. dairy meal is fed on merit basis i.e milk production, stage of lactation etc. secon item is minerals whereby dairy networks has been supplying them with supa phos kiwination
      Take home pointers:
      Dairy nutrition is localised on whats available with key aim to harness as much milk as possible from fodder. Supplementation is on merit basis, market demand etc.
      N.B no matter how feeding is good no cow will produce over and above its genetic potential.
