From the Divided States of America, may I just say I love to listen to you. For most of my life I've dreamt of seeing the lochs. You bring them closer. Thank you!
@@Ge-o I'll be there! I've been to England and Wales (Had a pint with Dylan Thomas. Well sitting on his grave.) Scotland and Ireland are on my bucket list. All those warm, balmy, places have no hold on me. Give me the crumbling Isle!
Great review. It will be hard when you lose your dad but it sounds like you were blessed with a good one. Worth the pain of loss because he did his job., his best while here. That's his dad in the video. James Blunt's father had been dying of stage 4 kidney failure when he did this video. No matching donors in the family. Did it in one take. Refused autotune as he wanted it to represent the situation. A distant relative in Australia saw the video and came forward and was a match. His father lived and apparently Still doing well in 2025. I home hospice my mom with stage 4 cancer during covid. A painful time but grateful for the time to say good bye and thank you for being a shinning beautiful light in my life. I rediscovered James Blunt tin 2024 and it's been a wonderful journey catching up. So many great songs. Really underrated singer songwriter. please review The Girl that never was is Heartbreaking. If Time is All We Have. Carry You Home. Tears and Rain. Bonfire Heart. The Greatest . Many More.
This song/video saved his father’s life via organ transplant from a distant relative. Amazing story. Thanks for the reaction to a beautiful song-rough universal experience, right? No one escapes-
Yes that is his father. At the time of recording this video his father had been diagnosed with stage 4 kidney failure and was dying as no match could be found. Both being ex military the not your son etc comment was I believe said to James by his father when he was being deployed to Yugoslavia as part of the UN forces. After this recording this video the crew were all in tears and his fathers comments were along the lines of “what you crying for, I’m still alive” Following the release of this song it reached a distant relative in Australia who came forward and was a match for his dad and he had a successful transplant, so in a real way this song really did chase the monster away.
James & his father Charles, were both former officers in the British military. I heard James donated all the proceeds from this video to the UK charity 'Help For Heroes' who do so much fantastic work with and for ex-servicemen and women. What a lovely thing to do. This song always chokes me up. Never got the chance to say goodbye to my dad (or my darling mum) and I'll never be able to come to terms with that. 🙋♂
While you still have your dad, be sure to tell him you love him and how much he means to you. It will fill his heart and when he is gone you will feel better knowing you told him.
Thankfully, I haven't had to deal with this situation yet, but I know one day I will. I'll be 43 this year, and I feel like my dad, and I are more like friends now than father and son but in a good way. Like he finally accepted that I am a man, not just his boy. It's difficult to explain. But we're closer because of it, and I hate to think of the day I'll have to say goodbye.
It was the line" your not my father,I'm not your son" that always got me ,but since watching these reaction videos I now know it was said when James was deployed in kosovo, and his father was above him and this was said, all makes sense now.
saying goodbye to ur son was harder, but i cherish the ability i had to do so. this is a beautiful song that i use for a vehicle to let out some emotion when im otherwise numb.
In the moment of death someone should be there to hold ur hand. And as i remeber that my father died alone on a narrow hospital hallway , and no one told me about his sickness, it's kinda dying something in me, Happly James father was alvie at the recording of this video. But we loose and win. Kinda sin of life, ain't it? Cause if u win, someonelse looses. That's life. Maybe that is kinda "fun" joke of life about us. Thanks for reacting!
It's interesting watching people listen to this song, a bit like watching someone being run down by a truck in slow motion, especially when they discover why it's called monsters.
Yeah this one is rough. I am in a similar position. My father is 73 now and much like you he has always been healthy and the strong type. And I am starting to see his body break down and his strength wane a bit. Even small things like watching him start to struggle around when we are on the boat at the lake fishing. I am the one cranking the boat on the trailer and I am the one backing the boat in to take the load off of him (it took some convincing for him to allow it, but I don't want him getting hurt doing these things). It is a complete role reversal and that change is killing me. I know it is inevitable. I have always known it, but to watch it play out tears me up. Never in front of him, but when I go back home I almost want to break down. When you are young your dad is invincible. He is superman. I love this song, but I am dreading the day it happens. I think about it all the time at night. I just want him to be 45 again 😭
'Cause I'm an American I'll point out that James' given birth name is James Blount. It's pronounced differently (like 'ow'). I think someone early on in his musical career had him Americanize his surname to make it easier to pronounce. Anyway, great song, great musical artist and an honest and open reaction. Thanks!!
Obviously his dad lived. But he was dying and in need of an organ transplant and one came in at the last minute. So Blunt wrote the song about his dad's inevitable death. And the dad lived. Dad had never heard the song before this video, which is really compelling because he's not crying about it.
Great reaction! Have you ever reacted to a video called HOPE by the artist NF. If not you deff need to check that one out and make it your next reaction!!

If you like to review ones that are popular to review, look for Phil Collins In The Air Tonight Live from Paris. You also want to want to watch the Johnny Cash Hurt video.
For some variety, I'm extremely compelled to recommend the young lady I cannot get enough of; Russian teen Diana Ankudinova, otherwise known as the "Queen of Goosebumps". Here's a mesmerizing beginning; the dark version of Elvis Presley's "Can't Help Falling In Love". ruclips.net/video/M-znD6QKbrg/видео.html

Yes, this.
Your reaction is so pure.

i liked seeing your genuine reaction. when i first saw the video i saw it blindly with no idea the premise of the song and it was quite a tear jerker
Thank you for your reaction.

I was a 24 /7 caretaker for my grandmother, my father's mother she had the last stage of lung cancer that had spread to other organs...
The only person not crying on set was his father. James and the crew were in pieces.😢
I lost my pops miss him every day
❤❤ i know your mistakes and you know mine, the true love of a great parent/child relationship, my Dad is my best friend in the entire world xx
