@Hoost 305, As Dymitr says it's a true crossplane, the crankpins are spaced at 90°. It doesn't have the funky sound like an R1 because it's a 2 stroke and fires every revolution. There's no reason why it couldn't have had a different crankpin spacing to make it sound different but that may have introduced balance issues. It would have been interesting though😁
That was my first mode of transport when I turned 17 back in 1973. It was so cool and it felt like the fastest thing on the road. Mine was red. Thanks Allen.
As i expected undiluted perfection from a master craftsman. Taking the last cake was a bit below the belt but i am nearly certain that Tracy planted that one, and concealed the rest of the batch lol
👍👍👍 Super! I love the sound of that motor .. that 'ring ding ding' .. Takes me back to '75 and my Suzuki GT550 .. loved that bike. Thanks for sharing and the memories.
Great to see that you keep on restoring old Kawasaki bikes from the 1970's, and don't forget a nice cup of tea together with wife's homemade cupcakes. Looking forward to see the next video and what's going on in the workshop.
Amazing engineering! I’ve always loved the sound of the 2 strokes. My dream bike was the T500 Suzuki. Triples also sound sweet. But Allen’s fours…symphony! Thank you sir for keeping the blue smoke alive.
Allen - Just a little tip - The cakes. With your engineering skills - Take a slice out of the middle and push the ends together (And Hope) Tracy doesn't notice the join 🤔Explain the gap at the ends of the cake tin as shrinkage as the cake cooled 🤭- Brilliant video as usual and the bike looks amazing - Kind regards Clay.
I also love the sound, but did you hear that 4 cylinder LC (Kawa converted engine with Yamaha RD 250 cylinders) Allen build the other day? That thing is my absolut favorite. Sounds like the good old KR YZR500 from 1980
I just adore watching your uploads! All so easily explained, and you make EVERYTHING look so simple! You create some beautiful, breathtaking motorcycles!
Watching his vids makes my mornings "just perfect". I used to shoot at Ilkley Rifle Club with an engineer. When the firing pin broke on my Martini International rifle, he made me a new one same day. It was "just perfect"
An absolutely magnificent bike, I wouldn't have expected anything else from Alan. It went fantastically not missing a single beat. Nice to see the magic hacksaw in action! Very pleased to see that Alan was wearing his protective gear, it horrifies me seeing so many people not doing so these days. I'd hate to see what they'd look like if they came off. Really hope to see more of these marvellous videos soon.
I think asides from your genius, Allen, the thing I love most about your videos is your story telling. I would've never guessed clicking on a motorcycle build video that I'd be entertained by birds, hedghogs, and your wifes baking! The engineering in the videos are great, don't get me wrong, but I only come back for the pesky critters and baking tutorials! . . . and of course Charley Weaver!
Another great build. There appears to be no end to Allen's skills, I was particularly impressed how he has mastered the art of changing his boots (3:48) and (5:59) whilst riding the bike, I would no doubt have fallen off if I had attempted that..... :)
Close my eyes, it's 1981 and I'm riding between my 2 mates on their RD250's ,completely drowning out my poor little RS100. The scent of hot,t, 2 stroke oil is overwhelming my nostrils and even the chair I'm sat in seems to be tingling with single cylinder vibes. The aches in my aging bones can be temporarily ignored. The fit and finish on his bikes end up being so superior to what originally came from the Kawasaki factory! Also I remember riding a 750 H2 back when they were nearly new.
