March I know this is late, but here’s my answer. Like King Lear, the main plot revolves around the passing on of power. In Lear, to determine his successor, the king sets up a test of love for his daughters to compete for his kingdom and the most eligible to become ruler forfeits due to seeing it for the farce that it is. As a result, she is banished and the kingdom is thrown into chaos. In Eden, it also deals with the passing on of power and there is also a test to gain it. The most eligible, Takizawa, drops out because he saw it for the farce that it was, but is thrown back in like Cordelia. The ending of Eden parallels Lear, as well, as both nations are left in disarray and without a proper leader. However, there is hope for them as all unsuitable candidates for succession had been eliminated, leaving behind only suitable candidates, like Albany in Lear and Takizawa in Eden.
