Touring Small Town Ontario: Haliburton Village (August, 2021)

A bit of a zig zag tour of Haliburton Village. Part of the Municipality of Dysart et al and Haliburton County, the village area shown in the video is one of the main commercial areas.
Founded on the lumber industry in the late 1880's, the area's economy now primarily evolves around seasonal tourism. Reminders of the region's rail history can be seen at various points in the video.
Haliburton Village is located 25 kilometres northeast of Minden and 230 KM northeast of downtown Toronto.
The A.J. Larue Arena, where we do U-turn in the video, has a street facing wall painted with murals of local sports heroes Bernie Nicholls, Ron Stackhouse, Matt Duchene, Cody Hodgson and Mike Bradley.

Oh man, this feels so much like I'm going to see my parents! I lived there for a good 3-4.years, I learned to drive on some of these roads and my parents street is totally in the video too!

my Home town to bad i had to move away for work. Love going home on the weekends to visit relatives. Great area to raise the kids. and my old high school much bigger then when I went there in the 70's I still remember the train that went along the lake to the rails end gallery the old train station. thanks for the memories.

That whole Haliburton, Minden, dorset, Kinmount area is beautiful - would love to love up there. Would you have gone to school with bernie Nicholls (hockey player) - I believe that's around the same time

That whole area between minden and bancroft is amazing in the fall! Everyone flocks to algonquin but, in my opinion, the colours are way better below the park..

It’s April 16 2024 the temperature today will be around 18c and 8 of us will be riding there for lunch, coming from Madoc. Always enjoyed riding to Haliburton and the surrounding area. Just a bunch of retired folks riding the highlands
