What taboo? It's common knowledge that raising another human being can be a royal pain in the ass. Which is why some of us had the brains to not that pipe in that hole.

My son is oblivious to details so I don't get it with him, but I used to nanny a little girl who would point out every "poke-a-buck." Multiple times an hour.

Hey! Would you consider making a video (if you're comfortable/feel like you have enough to share!) about fostering independent play in your kids? I notice your kids happily play by themselves in some of your videos, and I really struggle with that with my son. He's almost 2 and a half. So SWEET, but wants. me. all. the. time. Keep up the great work!

I find it hard when I’m not good with strangers, and for my little boy I will take him everywhere. But that means that sometimes the park will be full of families and other kids which means socialising with strangers for me. I always want to just turn around and go home but I don’t because I put my little boy first and make sure he has fun and socialises to help his development. But man I hate the mum socialising pressure!

  • @ashleywarner7995
    @ashleywarner7995 5 лет назад +1

I can relate to everything you said, and certain things especially. Leaving the house requires at least an hour of notice for preparing! (physically as well as mentally, lol)
I have learned to just function through being tired - there is nights I literally don't sleep. And the whole food thing..... for my 3 year old, my issue is every time I go to eat, he suddenly needs something or decides to get into things, etc...so my food ends up gross before I can eat it. Also, I am careful what we eat, especially with him because of health/digestive issues, and if I decide to have a treat of something "naughty" (or when someone else is eating something that we don't eat, like meat, dairy, fast food, etc) he is all about wanting it even if he has no idea what it is. But when I want to share with him because it's something healthy and time for him to eat, he acts like I'm trying to make him eat cat food - actually, he's probably more likely to eat the cat's food when I'm not looking than to willingly try something I want him to have, lol.
And then there is the whole "mommy, mommy, mom, mama..." ahhhhh 😬 especially when you're trying to have a conversation with someone. Like during an important phone call and they are just screaming at your feet, crying your name, wanting you to get off the phone and when you do, suddenly they are fine. it was just because you were on the phone. But despite all that (along with everything else u listed and then some) we all still miss them as soon as we get that time away we wished so hard for, even though we haven't been alone in 6 months, lol. My husband and I always end up talking about all the cute & smart things- like we couldn't do that any old time. But that's what being a parent is. It's the most time consuming, challenging job there will ever be, while also being the most rewarding, fulfilling, and character building - but that's mostly because you love them so much that you want to always do your best even if it means your own physical, mental or emotional suffering.... as long as THEY are healthy and happy. Once you become a parent, other things just don't matter like before. (like showering daily or getting out of your pajamas when u don't HAVE to, lol)

I am driving myself mad trying to fit everything that needs to get done into my day and there are so many times when my kids simply do not get the attention that they deserve and at the end of the day my heart breaks for them. I laughed so hard at the “I’m just going to explode and someone is going to hose my remains off the wall”, I laughed out loud alone at work 😂
One thing I dislike is how it changes your relationship with friends. I don’t get invited out as much, it’s harder to go out, it’s effort to be a good friend now if I don’t want to tote my son around with me. It makes it even more isolating. I also just want ONE hour where no one is jumping on me, pulling my hair, touching me, grabbing my clothes, talking in my face! I have never had my personal space so violated before 😂 I love snuggling with my son, but “snuggling” to him is one second of sitting still and then an hour of jumping off my stomach and rolling on my legs haha

I'm a new mama of an 8 month old and I think it's hard work. My respect to you and all the mamas with more than 1 baby. 😍 I also have furry babies (1doggy and 3 cats) so even if it's not the same I have a lot of work as a stay home mom. 😅 I relate to your feelings about the dresses and flashing people but it's the only clothes that fits me after my baby 😅😅 also living in a tropical country makes it comfortable and weareable. Jeans no bueno for my tummy. 😅 Plus I really like dresses on me ♡♡ Love your videos. Sending a big hug for you all away from Guatemala.

Loooooove this! Struggling with alot of things as a new mom of Two, so glad someone can admit these things instead of trying to pretend their lives are perfect all the time. Sometimes as a mom we have rough days, and that's ok

Chelsea H. Whining is usually the result of how we as adults treat the kids. We don't need to whine because we have freedom and choices, but kids are very dependent on us, and we often don't even answer first time they call our names.

I don’t even use my sons carrier like ever! I just wear him everywhere because it’s so much more convenient when chasing down a toddler 😬 also if you have any tips for not lashing out and stuff GIVE THEM TO MEEEEE 😂 I end up yelling at my 1.5 year old and I feel awful, and I’m not even sure where it comes from because the only parent who ever yelled was my dad and I almost never got yelled at. I’ve found out that I’m really bad at keeping my cool and I need to learn how to re-configure myself and break that habit for good.

Great topic to talk about! As a mom of a two year old boy and 10 month old who is constantly nursing and wanting to be held right now, I really do not enjoy how little physical space I get. I'm literally being climbed on or touched by someone and by the end of the day, I am TOUCHED OUT! I can not stand being rolled and climbed on constantly ( this is a problem with the two year old- he is SO physical) Do you have that issue with calvin or is it just my boy? Anyone else?

i think the reason people find it so hard to be a mom these days is because those who become moms these days strive to be a perfect mom. My great grandparents had 17 children. They were not fussing over the kids- they put them to work at age 6 in the fields. In the old days kids were just extra hands and thats the truth. For the rich people, they would just get others to raise their kids. Parenting in the way you think of it now was not a thing.

I know I'm late to the party (432 comments....I guess so!) and my sons are now 17 and 21. BUT I did stay home with them and I'm still there, as the younger of the 2 is graduating from high school next month. He still needed a mom around, even as a high school senior. I remember every stage and many of what is mentioned is water under my mother bridge. But I think the biggest thing: You have to be prepare to be interrupted in anything you are doing. Everything from sleep, to bathroom moments to phone calls....Anything. The completion of a thought, duty - shower. Interruptions are now part of your life and will be. For years. :) And, I'm sure like many, I want to make it clear that I am not complaining. However, to complete a task in one go. **sigh** Someday.....probably just in time for grandchildren! LOL

🤣🤣 its interesting watching this when you're not a mum, I like to know what i am potentially getting myself into in the future! I really really want kids, but i think a big part of it is seeing almost every one around me getting pregnant and having them. So I'm trying to tell myself that actually it isn't all sunshine and rainbows. Being a mum is gonna be hard!

I love my kid. I love being a mom. I wouldn't have it any other way. It was planned and desired and we had to try really hard. But had I known what I was getting myself into, I would have waited a year or two and just geared up for it. The sleep deprivation and 28h days are real, and kids do demand 24/7 100% attention. So do get them when you're ready, it's awesome and incredibly rewarding. But there's nothing wrong with taking your time. 😉

So enjoyed this video and related to a lot of what you had to say. The reality of my failure to be a "good" mama is the most difficult though.
I didn't really have a mother growing up so I'm sort of wingin' it. Thank God for the Bible and His church, they are so helpful. Real talk though: in the thick of SAHM-life sometimes you don't even think about the help God can lend you and end up a puddle of failure because you were trying to do it all by your own bad self...
I'd really enjoy it of you did a mom talk on how to NOT parent from emotion, like basic self control. I'm a generally insecure person and failure in my relationships (especially with my children) sort of send me into a spiral emotionally-which leads to more failures.. Ah what a mess I sound like! 🤣
I would enjoy also tips on how to spend meaningful time with young children, I struggle with that because of the ever-looming list of to-dos. I don't even work, at all! I don't know how you manage Sarah, you must've had a tremendously splendid mama!
