Family first Mark.. definitely, don't worry about big budget content, just seeing a good fix it video every now and then is good enough for us. It seems a lot of changes with RUclips is also seeing a lot of folks with less income and ad revenue. Sell a few machines and buy back later if needed we all do that. Stay safe and well dude 😎😁👏🤗
Neil and RMC, introduced me to you, and I say your style and unique, direct and humour sets you apart in the retro world. Keep going, as I believe you have a lot to offer, and inspire people in the community.
Mark...film the move! I know it sounds stupid, but RMC, Linus Tech Tips, eevBlog all saw growth by documenting their moves. About the site, how they do power, even their cable management. Your content is great, I enjoy the humour and am so sorry it's come to 'scrounging for caps'. Hang in there mate.
Mark, I'd like to state firstly, that I have been a patron of yours in the past, and due to the same circumstances had to cut down on that part of my budget as well. I'm still a subscriber, and I will continue to be one. Having lost my job recently, I feel for your situation immensely. Try to keep your spirits up, I know how hard it can be trust me. I've been what I can only assume is a similar emotional roller coaster as you must be, but your fans WILL be here for you, and times may be rough now, but they have a way of getting better. I hope I speak for the majority here when I say, Keep up the great work, you are loved and we want you to be as happy and stress free as you can, so do what you have to do to make it work. And as I have to believe, things will get better... They must.
I can understand making the hard decision and it's yours to make. And I do completely understand where you're coming from. More power to you and this hopefully lets you be in better headspace.
It's been a tough few years for you. I hope you can find a happy medium so everyone is happy. Tho not a Patreon, I have loved your videos and always look forward to more. Take care Mark !
Mark, your channel has been a joy to watch. The UK has been an economic car crash for several years now, so know you're not alone. I have many motivations to go out and vote for change on July 4th, I will be adding your channel to that list. Looking forward to your next episode.
100% behind this. Been there with my own business (where coincidentally I also had a big fire) and kept trying to make it work for too long thinking it would somehow improve. When I eventually stopped fighting and shut the business my mental health - and life in general - improved massively. You might find you are more open and available to new opportunities when you don't have this constant stress hanging over you. So GOOD LUCK. Make videos if you feel like it, it'll be nice to see you. Or don't. Just don't stress it, life is too short.
Good luck with everything Mark, I always enjoy your videos here and with Neil. RUclips is incredibly hard, whether full-time or part-time. I only make it work as I have almost 600 videos across an 18 year period here, and even then, it still only pays a very meagre salary. My less commercial retro channel currently makes me the grand total of about 50 bucks a month. I think the key, as you've found, is to not try and do what RUclips wants you to do, but what YOU want to do, and what YOU can actually manage to do. That might only be a video a month or every few months, which is fine to satisfy the creative side while leaving time for a real job. Trying to do more regular content is a hustle that only leads to success for a small handful, and burnout for most of us. Again good luck going forward.
Hi Mark, I've been a subscriber and enjoying your content for some time now (I discovered your channel via RMC). I'm gutted to hear how this horrible financial situation has affected you, as a renter I've been partially shielded from the worst of it. I hope this video reaches a lot of subscribers like myself who can afford to support content creators via Patreon, but who may not have thought to join and support Mark Fixes Stuff - maybe there's something round that next corner 🤞😁
It’s definitely tough. Economy in the pan, we are being squeezed harder - but we will get through it. Family and your own health first. No shame in downsizing either. Sometimes we need to take 2-3 steps back to make one giant leap forward. 🙌🏼 ❤
I will continue to watch your content wherever the location mate. It’s sometimes good to hear others talk of financial struggles, as like myself our mortgage will be going up massively in a few months which basically means we have little spending money. We are lucky in that we have enough for a decent life and to keep a roof over our head but much more increases in costs and it would be a problem. I think people watch you not just expensive projects mark. Maybe not having commercial sponsors is a blessing!
Sometimes we have to buckle down and try to keep a stiff upper lip. Family is more important. The hobiby is second and sometimes third. You do Mark as best you can! I will just keep watching. Keep on being that low tear patreon that I am. I know a little help is better than nothing. Thanks for being honest with us and for updates. Did I ever tell you that I just love the Channel!!!
Today is the first I saw your channel, but then I binged watched a bunch. You're doing the right thing. Family first. I'll bet I'm not the only one who'd say we'll be here when it makes sense for you to make more content.
Sorry to hear this Mark. Tough times right now for a lot of people. The channel is you, not the surroundings, and I hope we see you back in some form very soon, even if it's just Mark in a shed brandishing a soldering iron.
Hang in there Mark. You are not alone. I myself have been out of work for over three months now because contract work has dried up - not helped by having to work within constraints of the off-payroll working regulations. It’s tough. Not helped by uncertainty of General Elections and our completely ineffectual government for the last few years. Hoping things will turnaround in the Autumn when there is some clearer direction.
Mark, Remember that what you do is like a book we, the readers, cannot put down. A few may grumble waiting on the "next chapter" of your book, but many of us are just waiting for your next delicious chapter. Don't give up. We appreciate your efforts, sacrifices and what you've had to do to keep your channel afloat. We'll be here and when your next chapter comes out, be assured that it will be well read. Mark, thank you for your honesty.
Love your work. Thank you for all the great videos, and thank you for keeping on in whatever capacity you are able to. Everyone understands that you put a lot of work into this, and everyone understands that family and responsibilities come first.
I'm gonna keep on watching your interesting videos, regardless of the size of your operation😁. - Family is everything, so I completely understand where you're coming from. - Awesome content Mark, and good luck 🤘😎💥
Dude - I've only just stumbled across your channel, and seen this video which as moved me to reply. Firstly, much respect for talking about it. Mental Health is important and talking is the first massive step, NOONE will think less for you doing that. Blokes are programmed to just suck this stuff up and be "manly". Trust me it doesn't work. Hobbies are meant to be fun, they are supposed to be the distraction to, and escape from, the sh!tty stressful stuff. When they ADD to, or become part of the sh!tty stressful stuff, then it's time to re-evaluate. You're doing that which again is awesome. People will go from your channel, people will stay, and new people will tune in. It'll balance out. I've only watched 2 of your videos and TBH your personality and style would make me listen to you emptying a cat litter tray, so just keep at it. Head and family first.
Been watching you forever, and will continue to do so in whatever form or frequency. Family first and keep strong, irrespective of the channel I hope things get easier for you soon.
Well done Mark that must have been hard to say what you did!! the UK is a sh*t place to live right now! chin up and hope to see you soon on the channel👍
It's great for all the illegals living off the backs of hard working Brits, same here in the US with the southern border. smh It's a f*cked up world we're living in currently.
Mark I’ve been a big fan of yours since you first popped up on the Cave. Please take care of yourself and your family first, making content should be purely something you do for fun and as a hobby. Taking a step back right now and reevaluating things is definitely the right thing to do.
Hi Mark it's Martin from 21. Been a sub for a few years now and always look forward to a new video. Family always comes first. I've had to start a new channel as my old one got hacked and taken down so I've got to get my 4k and 1k subs all over again. Stay safe.
We're all feeling the pinch and we're all with you mate, glad your doing what's right for you and your family and even if it means a reduction in output I'm sure most will understand, love your video's you are an essential font of knowledge to us in the retro community and we will continue to support you as we have.
Chin up mark, your content is not only interesting its the only one that makes me laugh doing the geek! I look forward to whatever content you make when you get the time. Cheers.
Sorry to hear that. A lot of us can barely afford to take the shopping trolley for a spin at the moment. Hopefully things will improve economically over the next couple of years.
Nothing but support from all of us Mark! I for one will be looking forward to more content when things are good and ready for you and your family. Times are changing, I know plenty of people who have had to relocate recently. Including myself! I spent nearly a month of time of straight packing just a month ago. Lot's of emotions can come up, especially when you are packing of things that you absolutely love to do. I wasn't sure exactly how it was going to look when I got to my new spot, but now that I am here and getting settled with some of the bare minimums I am actually more excited for the change. I still have my favorite computers around and ready to play, and the MiSTer takes care of everything else until I am able to find or make the space for the rest. My solder / tech bench are still in storage, but I don't think it will be there for much longer!
Sorry to hear about what's going on, I've been enjoying your channel for years. I'm glad you're able to keep going with the channel even if it does involve you having to make changes.
❤ to you, you clearly feel very emotional about this and it shows that you care. It will always be a pleasure to watch your videos - your technique and attention to detail is always commendable and I look forward to seeing your content, regardless of your schedule.
After the fire and the financial predicament we all find ourselves in you've done well to get this far! Do whatever you need to and we'll be here when you get back!
Family first mate. Look after them and look after yourself. You fix stuff - and you'll fix the current situation and we'll be there when you have sorted everything out. Hopefully you'll still pop up on RMC occasionally (you two make a great double act) when time and so on allows even if you're not in a position to make content for your own channel yet.
Family always comes first Mark. It's clearly hard but it's also the right decision you've took after much consideration. We'll stick around man, it doesn't really matter how big or small your operations are. We want you to be happy, enjoying what you do and how you do it, whilst having internal peace in every way. Thanks for the past and even more so for things to come!
Thank you for your awesome content, you taking care of your family is super important. We are looking forward to your upcomming content equally much despite downsizing. Take care Mark! Hope things can work out better for you soon!
You’re a good man, Mark, and we will all be there for you as you work on making the changes that you need to make to help the channel remain viable. We all care about you. Much love to you and the family from Sydney, Australia 🇦🇺🇬🇧
Sorry that things aren't working out. Glad that you're putting the right priorities first. You'll work out what you want to do with videos and fixing stuff, I'm sure. Like you say this is a hobby. It's got to be fun and of benefit to you, not the other way around.
Mate you have always been one of the most down to earth and genuine chaps in the community. Im sure I speak for an awful lot of others, when I say, we will watch whatever content you put out, as and when you are able to. YOU are what makes these videos, not the tools, or production values. Be kind to yourself chap. You and your family come first. Would expect no less of you.
Totally understandable, and at the end of the day you have to do right by yourself and your loved ones. Hoping that things look brighter for you soon, Mark.
I'm sure we all support whatever decision you have to make Mark 🙏 I would have given you multiple thumbs up if I could have. Good luck and take care of yourself and your family!❤
I've found myself in similar shoes as of late. I'd say you're making the right decision. Trying to stiff-upper-lip through it doesn't get you anywhere good, and it's better to re-evaluate priorities and take care of your family. Best of luck
Sorry to hear that things are not as good as they should be. You’re doing the right thing by putting family first, and when you get settled in smaller surroundings we will all be here to watch whatever content you put out. Take care!
It's completely understandable Mark. These are tough times, and many are having to make sacrifices to save some coffers among other things... me included.
Sorry to hear, but so glad you won’t be giving up the videos altogether. Seeing a new one appear always makes me happy, I ❤ your subject matter and your style. All the best.
Thank you for enriching my life and for all the memories so far. I sincerely hope you find a way out of your current situation and I am confident you will. Wishing you and your family all the very best. ❤😊
Good Luck Mark, you have made the right decision for yourself. Family, job and then hobbies is the priority and while a job is significantly less rewarding than the rest it support both family and hobbies. Videos take a long time to produce and the price of retro gear now almost requires a second job to enjoy the hobby so I think everyone understands. Looking forward to future content.
Chin up buddy as Monty python would say always look on the bright side of life. I do get you 100% I’m going through the same problems here with my channel and the cost of retro going through the roof don’t help as you know. Keep up the great content people like you made me decide to give this RUclips lark a go although I should have called my channel Neil fixes things sometimes lol 😂. Good luck and all the best 😊
Sorry to hear about your situation, Mark. It's always a pleasure to watch your content and I hope you'll be able to get back on your feet soon. Thank you for everything you have done for us so far.
All I can do is wish you the best 🙏 your family goes first! if things improve, or you feel like making a mini video occasionally I'm certain we would see it
Thank you for the update, of course it's understandable that you and your loved ones should always come first! Other matters can always take a backseat until you are able to deal with any other situations that have arisen! I think we all can relate to needing to downsize and step back sometimes; especially with the way things have been for the past few years - what with one thing and another, etc.
you are a treasure. i hope you can get through your current issues and come back once you're re-situated and revived, you'll have my emotional and otherwise support throughout it all. Sending loads of positive mojo and understanding. best luck in the coming times. It is hard all over, many of us are feeling the pinch.
It's not about the location, we are here for you mark. Your the best. You could move to a skip in a carpark and I'd still watch your great content. Stay strong.
Hey Mark… all I hear in the video are big positives… you put family first, the channel will continue and you are just striking the right balance with your finances to keep your hobby going while making sure you aren’t depriving the family. It’s all good; your true supporters will warmly embrace the decisions that you sometimes have to make! Just keep fixing stuff and keep making it interesting as you always have for as long as you enjoy it. I don’t believe the size of your studio, the number of videos and whether you spend big bucks making them are as important as one might think 👍
Hugs, Do what you have to. We will be here as and when you need us and hopefully things will improve for all of us here in the UK sometime soon. We all understand the pressures at the mo so never feel like you are letting anyone down. Keep calm and carry on, or at least as best as you can. :)
Im sure Neil has a cupboard you could move into 😂 In all seriousness, you'll bounce back from this blip, we all love you and your awful/hilarious double entendres....
Mark, I completely understand where you're coming from. Your family must come first, and honestly it's been a tough few years for you and your family what with the house fire and all. You hang in there and we will all be rooting for you and looking forward to when you can put out videos at an honest rate that isn't destructive. Chin up and have a cuppa with the wife and kids.
Hey ! don't feel sorry Mark ! You've been through some major shyte, came back with great efforts and now you need a break and focus on another fight. Everyone is thankful and we'll be glad to see you returning when the tide is high (and all the old grumpy guys now have the song in mind ! Mwahahahah). Look after yourself and family... we'll be there when you return ;)
Mark, I love the content you make and while you don't make fixes as tutorials, you have shown me what I should look for in fault finding my own problems. Family always comes first. We'll see you when you can do the next video. All the best to you and your family. Dave.
Hard times here in Australia too, Mark. People are cutting back across the board and the cost of living has grown at rates vastly higher than headline inflation numbers suggest. Keep up the good work, mate.
Sorry to hear things aren't working out as well as planned, but nobody can blame you for wanting to put your family first. I hope you can find a way to keep your hobby going, keep the channel running and making videos, so don't feel bad about taking time to get things sorted out if you need to. That said, bad times don't last forever, which means having a more efficient operation will pay dividends when things start to turn around.
Hope it gets better for you soon, I need the double entendres from you, otherwise I have to resort to carry on films and Viz/Finbarr Saunders. Keep your tongue out as Steve Wright would say.
An announcement about the future of the channel. I can't go on like this unfortunately and need to act now. No drama, just facts. The world changed.
I forgot to say that the mess is due to me sorting and packing, etc.
Thank you for watching.

Sorry to hear this, I really enjoy your videos. Take care of yourself and your family.
I feel for you m8. Sad to hear but I totally understand. Take care and still great to hear you are making some content.
Sorry to hear of your troubles, Mark. Do what you need to do and best of luck!
Totally get it, I'm with you. Hopefully things turn a corner soon enough.
Take care!
Good luck with your future plans, hope all goes well and I for one will continue to look out for your future videos :)
Thank you Mark for sharing, totally understandable. Rooting for you and hope things pick up very soon (I'm sure they will)
It's completely understandable Mark. These are tough times, and many are having to make sacrifices to save some coffers among other things... me included.
Like everyone else here, love the channel & content. You do what you & your family need
Sorry to hear, but so glad you won’t be giving up the videos altogether. Seeing a new one appear always makes me happy, I ❤ your subject matter and your style. All the best.
You have your priorities straight Mark! Take care.
Really sorry to hear this Mark. Good luck in all your future endeavours.
Family always come first. Love all you have done. Best luck and take care.
Lots of respect for you Mark. Not an easy video to make. Looking forward to seeing more from you when you can make it happen.
Thank you for enriching my life and for all the memories so far. I sincerely hope you find a way out of your current situation and I am confident you will. Wishing you and your family all the very best. ❤😊
Love from Poland 🍻
I'm so sorry to hear this Mark. Best wishes and please take time to look after yourself.
Sorry to hear Mark, I've quietly enjoyed your videos for a while. The kind of content you make is what makes youtube great. I wish you the best
The pursuit of a dream is a thing to be proud of IMO. I wish you and your pursuits nothing but the best!
It's not about the location, we are here for you mark. Your the best. You could move to a skip in a carpark and I'd still watch your great content. Stay strong.
Sorry to hear this. If Dave and the other Jelly Babies need a new home. I am more than happy to eat…. I mean adopt them!
Very best wishes for the future sir. Much respect to you and your family.
Know that you work has been appreciated, and your decisions are understandable. I sincerely hope the future brings changes for the good.
Even if we get one video a year, I'd be happy!
I wouldn’t.
You only want Mark to come once a year??? Mrs Fixes Stuff won't be happy...
@@Acheronus80More often than Santa empties his sack would be nice.
You're a thoroughly decent bloke by all accounts, times are tough, do what you need to do for you and your family. :)
Cheers Mark! Hope things turns for the better in the world. if not: looking forward to seeing you in another format.
You look after yourself and your family, Mark👍🏼
Hope it gets better for you soon, I need the double entendres from you, otherwise I have to resort to carry on films and Viz/Finbarr Saunders. Keep your tongue out as Steve Wright would say.
Hope to see videos from you in time. Best of luck.
Good luck with everything Mark, take care of yourself.
