Alaska in the '70s. I had 3 Sonnet III, drove one of them across Canada and the US, summer of 1976. I recall mods of exhaust, electronic ignition and drilling a hole in the windshield wiper motor to let the collected rain water out. And having a spare xmission ready when the current one gave it up. A fun car suitable for rally and ice racing.

Good video, Troy. I continue to enjoy your content. I'm currently looking to get a Sonett as I'm selling my '85 900 hatchback. I will certainly support what you're doing. I can't imagine being a single dad as I have two young boys of my own. Cheers!

Same VDO instrument series used in 50's and 60's. I have the hour meter not used on SAAB.

The fins on the side - do you know exactly what they were used for - I imagine aero, but I am wondering what specifically they did. Any ideas?

Oh, and I did own a Sonnett III. It'd Smoke an MX5 on VT's Route 100, and, I could still carry my golf-clubs in the Hatch.

I wasn't referring to what us as a community refer to as a "sports car" but more what the Saab press was calling it at the time !
