I feel priming brings the paint job to the next level and also makes the paint last much longer. The majority of professional painters will prime first before painting, even if the paint has primer in it. Priming stops bleed through of older paint, stops blotchiness and minimizes how many coats the area needs. The room turned out awesome and I love the colors!

I knew it was just a matter of time before you had to enclose the loft. It would never work as a bedroom because of the noise factor. I just felt your selling your other house that had room for everyone was so sad. I know you had built it and were very upset to have to sell and then have to buy an older house that was smaller and needed remodeling. I don't think I've ever known how many children you have. I know some don't live with you. Is this your second husband and are some of the children his. Just curious. I just recently got cordless blinds from Amazon for my windows. They are just 1" metal blinds and are very reasonably priced. Good luck.
I honestly think we are soul friends. I can’t stand extra in my home. Everything has a place and everything in its place is what I say. I don’t like storing extra stuff. It unnerves me to my core knowing I have things stored I don’t use on a daily basis. You and Chris outdid yourselves on the boys room, it looks soooo good, I love both wall colors they work so well together 🫶🏻

I've been so excited to see how this project would turn out. The room looks terrific and I adore that color on the wall behind the beds. I just finished a big, honking declutter in my home. Last Saturday I shredded old love letters and gave the bags of paper to my Dad to burn. 😂😂😂

I don't do well with a lot of things either! Dawn, The Minimal Mom, calls it the "silent to-do list" and too much stuff gives me anixiety! I love the look of more things! So I've decided I'll appreciate other people's homes or appreciate the stuff in stores (or even on pinterest lol!) - but *not* in my home!
I just had to paint all of our doors in our new house. I used Krud Kutter gloss off and then primed with kilz adhesion primer. It is an amazing combo. It doesn’t matter what the surface is like previously it covers everything and allows any paint to go on smoothly. 😊. Great realistic room makeover Lynn.
Great job. It looks fantastic. Hubs needs to touch up that spot of blue for use ocd freaks 😂. I'm glad you were able to accomplish this project for your family.
I would have put the lights "over" the beds on the first vertical board. That way, if you decide to move the beds away from the wall, the lights will be slightly more centered. Otherwise, this room is fantastic. Privacy is super important for preteens, as your boys are. I love that you put the dresser in the closet. Boys don't have a lot of hanging clothes, and having the dresser in the closet opens the floor space.
Love the look...if you put the dresser between their beds they could hang most of their clothes...I know when my kids were little they found it easier to hang things rather than keeping a drawer neat...just a thought! Love the wall!
Why don't you take the chest out of the closet and put the smaller cube holder in the closet. That would give you more hanging space.Put the Chester drawers in-between their beds with a lamp like the photo.
Hi I can hear you are still struggling with you allergies have you checked wether you can have a rhinoplasty done I suffered terrible had mine done about7 yrs ago best thing I did no inhalers no hayfever no colds it’s been brilliant I can breath I don’t have to sleep sat up anymore x

Wow guys I really do not think the other people could have done better. I really love the colors you picked out especially that blue OMG! If I had to change anything it would be the way the door opens to a wall instead of the open space, but that’s just me not that it’s wrong the way it is now. Love Diana ❤️
I like what you and your husband did to the room. May I suggest that you move the beds away from the wall and window and center them between the desk and the wall and the desk and the window?
The paint is probably peeling off your door because the old paint was oil based & you painted water based on top. Prime with an oil based primer and then you can paint with water based paint and it will stick.

I would add, you have to use an oil based primer on oil based paint, and latex can go over oil based primer.

We recently painted the exterior of our house ourselves meaning my husband did it. It’s a 3200sqft house with upstairs bonus room above garage. We were told it would have cost us $10k to hire someone. It only cost us like $800 to do it ourselves including not just the paint but the brushes and the extension pole roller and other supplies etc. Crazy expensive renovations are these days. We live in Florida too.
It is crazy! We got a quote for painting too. So expensive! I’d like to do that ourselves too.

The boy’s bedroom looks so nice!! Love the simplicity of the deep blue wall as an accent wall with the neutral bedding & blanket! I like the desk in the middle of the beds. Closing up the wall just made all the difference in the world! It sure made a nice room! Loved your video!

Love this and thank you for reminding us that it took a year. We are mid way through phase one of renovating the house we just bought. I need the reminder that it doesn’t all get done in a week. ❤
You can get a mobile TV mount that allows the TV in the bedroom when it's really wanted and it can be removed for all other times. We did that and love having the option to watch TV in bed but not having the TV in the room always. Plus, you can have less tvs if not one per room. The leather boxes are super cute but need to be the longer version.
