I think it’s so interesting that it’s only in the last 20 or so years that the internet has become such a big phenomenon. I find it interesting that our parents and grandparents used to live this way and things still got done. I think it’s very much about self control really with social media and the sites that you visit.
I agree! I found his channel yesterday and I'm just sad that I didn't discover it earlier. After almost every video, I just get this inspiration that I want to try these challenges etc. myself too :D
I honestly might try this... I'm only a fourteen-year old but I can see that I'm way too connected to the Internet. I don't really need it. I don't have to talk to my girlfriend on Instagram every night, I don't have to play a game I play a night every night, I don't have to watch my RUclipsrs' videos as soon as they are released, etc. I can go out and physically see her, or I can make my own entertainment. Thanks for this video, it was definitely an eye-opener
Give it a try man. It's definitely harder than I anticipated, as I normally spend a ton of time online. Doing it definitely made me realize that I need to find a balance, it's so easy to waste time online, when I could be spending that time doing something more productive.
Dude I'm 29 going on 30! I was born in 1989 when internet was made available. In 2007 the iPhone changed the game and now all we do I surf the internet without care or in moderation. Some times we need to take a good vacation.. its a beautiful world out there. When I was fourteen I was playing kickball, catching spiders, collecting hot wheels and Pokemon cards, writing letters and practicing cursive. Time was spent improving skills and being happy! Nowadays phones give a person a fake reality feel... if that makes any sense. But like I said... In moderation!!
I'm 35 and sometimes I asked myself what I did all day in my youth days without internet. I really can't remember. I had internet since I was 14 years old, but 20 years ago there wasn't much to do in the internet, so one's couldn't spend all day on there. At least in Germany where I live the internet and social media became really a thing around 2009/2010.
lifelikejosie Lol! It was very frustrating. Most frustrating thing was constantly reaching for my phone to check social media out of habit, and not being able to! Glad I did it though.
I find the best way to beat the urge to pick up your phone is to do the dishes but in complete silence. There's many people who say being near water inspires tranquility allowing for your brain to relax which helps with your imagination, there's been many times where an idea for an episode has come about completely at random while standing there washing some cups. Awesome video BTW I'm really loving your channel.
Howesenberg Oooo that's interesting! I'll have to give it a try. I'm usually not a huge silence person, I've always got music playing or a video going, but I think a bit of silence and some water might be beneficial! 👌
Goal Guys Totally, for me I work at desk all week, edit all weekend so my brain is always barraged by noise and visuals. You cover such interesting topics I think things like this are very important the more we as a soceity get caught up in a media driven lifestyle.
amazing video for a starter, just a little more animations and maybe explanation of how it's caused like you did at 2:15 but so far it's definitely worth a like and subscription. Great job!
suleymen kand Thanks so much man. Really appreciate the constructive feedback. We're definitely still learning what works for our channel and how we can improve our content. So it's great to get some quality feedback 👊
i dint tested to be without internet for so long but i think in my case it would be a disaster and here is why: the only things i need internet connection for is 1. check my email (only when i get notification about new email) 2. acces to my bank account 3. im heavily addicted to youtube and google . i dont care about news, politics, i dont follow any one on social media etc. its seems not mutch and it should be easier for me to be without internet but like 90% of the time i spend my time online goes to youtube and google and yes! i have a job, car, cat, girlfriend etc.
For me I don't have to do it myself my wireless internet connection was cut out for a week because my parents didn't recharge me I went crazy for a week
We're super addicted to the internet in my house. Nothing has been done because just about everything we do is online. I at least have my phone but it's still not the same. One more week to go and then back to the online world because it's too cold to go out nothing to clean to keep busy and all the other ideas and activities I've thought of involve some form of internet activity 😔
1 week is nothing. When i went to rehab i went 2 months with no internet. Man it sucked, all you do for fun is talk to other addicts about your problems.
Mhamad Wilddin It's definitely tough. The one thing I had to do to avoid boredom and loneliness was to be very deliberate with what I was working on. I forced myself to read more and did more writing. There were definitely parts that were AWFUL, BUT there were some really positive aspects for me as well!
I'm LDS and I recently came home from serving my 2-year mission. Missionaries aren't aloud to use internet or watch tv and yeah, it was really rough at first but by the end of it, you actually don't feel like you need it anymore! Really makes you appreciate things
Nice video, i did the same with video games this week; and my god its difficult. Its super interesting the pull between the two sections of the brain, theoretically we should do what we know is best for us at any given time, yet the impulse to piss around and get short term enjoyment over-rules the rational part of our brain so often its crazy. I use a program called 'Cold turkey' to ban myself for a certain amount of time, and you cant get change the program until its duration is up. Maybe you would find it helpful, for example to block facebook or other programs for a set amount of hours? We react to things in the most extreme ways, for example with the games this week, first two days are fine then the subsequent days have been painful due to the lack of motivation to actually complete the things i set out to do, due to the lack of pleasure at the end of them. Possibly the best idea would be to incorporate a set routine using the program, for example block games or other productivity stealers until 5 or 6pm, or a typically working day, thereby you are productive during the day but at night you have the opportunity to reward yourself. Like with any energy supply, willpower runs out eventually through constant use (Read in several books), however like a muscle the more you train it the better your supply of willpower, and the longer you can use it for.
infernoimp Dude good on you for taking a week off from video games. It's so tough to take time off from things that are habitual for us to use. That app actually sounds really helpful!! I'm definitely going to check it out. There are usually points in my day where I am more likely to waste time on the Internet, so I might try blocking those hours and see if it helps me be more productive. Thanks for the comment man, it's awesome to hear what people are up to and how they're improving 💪
I'm on a 3 weeks without PC challenge, because my PC died and I have to wait until pay day to get a new one, the hardest part on this is not being able to study 3D or watch things I want, since smartphone is something on my "not interested" list.
When you move to a location out in the sticks, and it takes an eternity for the isp people to come to your property and run fiber optic cables through your property.
I am going to be offline for one week too it is so easy if I want to do it, I don't have any smartphones(all I have is a laptop, mostly for work) buy I spend about 1-3 hour(s) on RUclips every day, so I think I need to go off for a week
I quit Facebook half year ago and exactly nothing happened. I realize, haven't even needed it. In fact, I grew half of my life without internet so being without it for 1 week seems... funny? The only mad thing is actually how all the young generation is addicted to it (it's 21st century drug bascially). And sometimes I honestly feel we would be better without it.
I will have to spend 1-2 months this summer without any electronics ( no tv , phone , internet or anything that has a screen ). How should i do it ?? Any recommendations on what to do during these months ?? Thanks
disconected my self so i can spend my vacation writing my murder mystery game,.......... 4 minutes into writing.................... whos the character im thinking of..... checks google failed damit
1 week without internet is too easy. You can just hang out on the beach, read some books, go to the pool, bark, play tennis, basketball, chat with someone on the street etc. Try longer!
im not paying anymore to the internet im coming off it this week and saving up for my new bike and a travel visa i have nomore need of the public eye or internet i have all my games and music and movies on my pc.
laptop broke, scrambling for solutions. for reference, I'm a homeschooled 13-year-old girl in a small town. I have little human contact aside from family. This causes my brains to bleed out my ears :)

Hey man. I really like your channel but the poor sound quality is very off-putting. The music often drowns your mic and sometimes you sound off-mic. I encourage you to pay extra attention to your sound as it literally doubles your upload's effectiveness. Good luck!
new horror story don't look if you can be scared easy now this happened to me I lost internet for a month ye my doctor said I'm lucky to survive he said that one day it might be a type of torcher
Try going without internet, computers, and smartphone. Literally don't use anything that has the ability to connect to the internet. I know a guy that's on probation with those conditions. He's been trying to get a lawyer to get them changed. I pointed out that it's unconstitutional to have them. I'd help but the cost of the lawyer is 3000$
Vex Vesper Fox Yeah no being honest I can’t go the whole day without internet it would be the hardest thing I’ve even done. Nowadays internet becoming the most important part of our life. It’s like humans can’t live without food same thing for the internet lol 😆

you should do a week of only water. no soda, coffee, juice etc.
scyther1 Oooo, I might have to try this! Coffee would definitely be the hardest for me. I may or may not be mildly addicted to coffee...😂
The only things I drink, normally, are water and tea... not that hard

Set your phone's color to black and white, lower the dopamine hit you get from all those slick, psychologically manipulative apps.

wow. I can't imagine how frustrating it would be to not have access to information.
This is so interesting.

Starting tomorrow I'm going to start this, it seems like a great way to disconnect and stay focus. Well done on sticking to it!
thank you your videos are inspirational I cant wait to start my goals. I was here fist before your videos get to famous.
