Thank you Mickey, Andy DePaule gave me a copy 3 years ago before you shared it here IT GAVE ME MY FIRST KNOWLEDGE on all pulls and some idea in fulcrum points in push pulls (with Clem Schmitz booklet/dvds) I’m now trying to get my foot into steel repair and setup work, I’ve had a few customers and they all have been happy campers My most recent 5/19/2024 was a basket case Push pull that they converted the raises to nylon tuners!! I used the rack and barrel method for the raises (minus the slack to lower Es in pedal c) I turn the nylon til it starts to overtune, find zero then turn 3 times for slack, use my stop screw to tune it at or just above the raised note (or a little lower for a lower) and the lower string on said pedal/lever will do what it’s gonna do without a true bell crank or spring in a push pulls case Thank you sir, I currently play at this writing a 1997 Mullen d10 8x4 and on its way a 3x6 marrs sd10 (serial 3!) I’m waiting on Mike Matney jr at Mullen to possibly make me a vertical levers parts kit to move my b lower off pedal 4 I’ve added a different change to pedal 4 on c6, effectively a REVERSE pedal 6 with lower C raised to D
A very thourough and informative video, thanks so much, Mickey! Especially the concepts on how the the different rod connection points affect travel and rotation. Helped me sucessfully complete a change on my knee levers (swapped the functions of LKR and RKL so that I had the E lower on the LKR which I'm used to on my other steel)

Thank you so much for taking the time to make and upload this video. I learned to play on a pedal steel my great grandfather built. By the time it made it's way to me it wasn't operating to it's full potential, and I never had enough of an understanding of how everything works to correct that. But this video changed all that and I was able to pull it apart and set it back up properly. Now it plays better than I thought possible!
Being fairly new to the PSG this video is priceless. Thanks for taking the time to break down the mechanics of this instrument. I’ve been looking for information like this for a long time. I have a Mullen G2 so this is very helpful. Great job and thanks again.
Amazing! Our beloved PSG is one hell of an invention. The builders and innovators were truly in the same camp (IMHO) as Edison, the wright brothers etc. THANKS Mickey.. This is an invaluable resource for generations to come!
Mickey, just came back to review and refresh my understanding of this complex wonderful machine. I own 7 of these rascals all different makes. I marvel at the design and ingenuity of the builders and their processes. As a long since retired automotive technician from new car dealers I have seen a lot of engineering triumphs and failures. Everyone reinvents the wheel at some point. Of course simplicity is the key to excellence and reliability. Thanks for making and sharing your wealth of knowledge to the layman. I find your teaching 1st class and believe me I have endured a mountain of automotive schools in 45 years. God bless you for this excellent opportunity to understand our favorite passion and pastime.

After watching this video on the complicated successive tries to get a good half stop on the string 2, I really appreciate the Carter guitar’s extra 11th finger+spring. Super easy to adjust and understand.
Thank you for this! I'm less scared about working on my Sho-Bud Pro II Custom. I'm still scared. But less so now. I will definitely watch this a second time. Hopefully I can fix my binding issue. (3rd string not fully raising when it hasn't been played in more than an hour or so until it snaps into place)
Realy thank you Mickey for show the parts , and explain the détails ...il got an serions Problem for replace Some news parts on 3 models ( two Emmons 10 single extended ans the 12 strings single frame and one MSA Side quick ) the dealers and Paket if the PSG parts is gone ...and close the shop...il look for an other dealer of Pedal Steel parts in Florida or in North Carolina ...// I live in France in the south
