Um, yeah I take your point but it's a matter of semantic difference IMO. As it isn't so much underrated as it is *under recognised.* Those of us who know the film rate it very highly but not many people, even in the age bracket you cite, are aware of its existence. In my experience anyway.
Richard Dimitri belongs in the character actor's Hall of Fame for this part. The genius about the way Moroney's profanity-butchering dialog was written was a) it was very funny, and b) because he wasn't using real expletives, this could have aired on broadcast TV without bleeping it. Also love Dick Butkus, "what a mouth on that guy..."
He's one of the Fargin best characters in the movie!. He may be an Icehole but he's the people's Icehole and WE love this Bastage and all of his Iceholury. 😂😂
I remember seeing the movie on Comedy Central when I was in high school in the mid-late 90's; went to school the next day talking like Roman Maroney in study hall. My friend sitting next to me thought it was the funniest $#!+ he ever heard. We're all supposed to be quiet with no talking and his face was red and a vein was popping out of the side of his head while trying not to laugh 😆
Maroney was classic, but there wasn't a character in the movie I can't quote. From "My mother hung me on a hook once... *once*" to "Johnny if I don't get laid I'm gonna die..."
Always remember in Dublin when film came out there was a hardware store "HUGH FORKIN " some bastage was quick enough to tag "ICE HOLE " to the end of the sign ! Priceless.
043lightman Omg hahaha, I haven't genuinely laughed out loud at a comment in so many years. Sad part is I visited this video not long ago but somehow missed this hilarious story!
1:33 The best rant EVER!!! "You fargin sneaky bastich! I gonna take-ah your dwork; I gonna nail it to da wall! I gonna cash your boils in a meat grinder! I gonna cut offah you arms; I gonna shove 'em up your ice hole! Dundee suminabatch! My own club!"
one of the funniest movies EVER! I still quote it. "You fargin sneaky bastage" I say it at work all the time. The girls I work with had never heard of it. I recorded the speech into a ringtone, and it's currently my ringtone. Everyone laughs when they hear it. I love this movie, and Moroney did rule the movie, wouldn't have been the same without his character.
This is a really underrated comedy. A great parody of gangster movies. I first found out about it by seeing clips in Weird Al's video for "This Is The Life". Looked so oddball that I had to find out what movie it was. Once I did, I managed to rent a copy (pre-RUclips days, kids) and loved it. Got my own copy on DVD now.
Had to come here to get Moroney’s fargin bastage iceholes. Just some straight up classic stuff here. Thanks for putting it out there. I am still laughing.
I am of Italian decent, and my grandfather was from Italy. When he spoke with his Italian accent he sometimes flubbed the words and gave us a good laugh. This movie always brought back those memories, but my grandfather didn't curse like Moroney.
man i remember liking this movie when i was a kid but watching it now.. there are parts that make me laugh out loud.. and laugh hard. like i had forgotten about the silly car crash where the guy yells "OH MY GOD" and they just repeat him yelling that. it's like the sound guys loved his take and amused themselves by looping it like that
I’m 45. I saw this when I was a kid, and I’ve been quoting it for decades. It’s a sign of a distinguished person that either quotes from, or recognizes quotes from Johny Dangerously. Like Kung Pow, it just lets me know I’m in the presence of a worth knowing individual
I wonder how many takes they did, trying to play a tough gangster and stay in character while Maroni does on his ranting, saying 'Bastiges, and my fav, 'Fargon Icehole'. The butchered words on paper, funny. But this actor created magic with his hilarious delivery.
I concur , fellow patriot ! It's time the American workin' Man grew some stones and says " You shall go no farther , fargin' icehold ! " I thought they worked for us ..... Lock & Load !!!!
The truly brilliant thing about the Moronie character (aside from being funny as hell) was that since what he was saying wasn't true profanity, you could most likely air this on broadcast TV uncut. I love Dick Butkus' line, "What a mouth on that guy..." Whatever happened to Richard Dimitri anyway? Besides this part, I remember him having the part of Cheeseburger in "Let it Ride," with Richard Dreyfuss. (another very underrated comedy) Thanks for posting! Free Johnny!
All these years later, I forgot the name of the movie, but I always remembered the lines- YOU FARGIN ICEHOLE! and YOU SUMMONA BOTCH! Well that and My grandmother shot me once......ONCE! 😂😂😂😂😂
The truly brilliant part of Moronie's character and his mangled use of expletives, was that (besides being very funny) you could probably have aired it on broadcast TV since it wasn't real profanity. When this came out, the people at the place I used to work, looked for any excuse to proclaim, "This is fargin' war!" Thanks for the post - Free Johnny!
That fargin' samanambatchen icehole Moroney, carried that movie on his fargin' back.......that face, that make-up.... (Screen presence) Moroney should have starred in his own fargin' series of movies. fargin' producers and critics......
My dad took me to see this movie in the theater when I was 11 or 12. I never swore in front of my parents until I was in my 40s...but they were ok with the substitute swear words, knowing exactly what they meant. Now that I'm 50, my dad doesn't care about my language but I still can't bring myself to say the F word in front of my mother even though she uses it constantly.
Oh yeah, I still quote the courtroom lines to people randomly...lmao Michael Keaton...he was Batman when I was a kid and because our last names are spelled similarly everyone use to ask me if I was related to him. After a while I just told everyone that he was my uncle.
35 years later and I’m still quoting lines from this underrated gem.....you fargin bastiches!
They have fargin icehole tshirts
@YT Account I was going to buy one, but then I thought, no one would recognize it
SNEAKY fargin bastages.
Me, too.
Lol I love this movie
How they kept a straight face through any of this filming is amazing
because they're professionals - and because they don't put the corsping into the movie?
It's actually not underrated for anyone between 40 and 60..it's classic
It’s perfect fer everyone
That’s funny, I’m 40 and used to watch this all the time. Still cracks me up to this day!
I'm 30, this is one of my all-time favs
Um, yeah I take your point but it's a matter of semantic difference IMO. As it isn't so much underrated as it is *under recognised.* Those of us who know the film rate it very highly but not many people, even in the age bracket you cite, are aware of its existence. In my experience anyway.

Hey, shuddaya yer farging mouth, you farging fake-et.
Dimitri was also classic as cheeseburger in let it ride.. another classic
@@execatty The 4-horse is a joke Trotter!!
Love ‘Let it Ride’
@@hibob418 a true classic.. they put little kids on the 4 horse so they can have their pictures taken.. lmao
It did air on broadcast TV once... *ONCE.!* 😉
I never get sick of this move, You could watch this 100 times and still enjoy it, pure masterpiece
One of those movies that shouldn't have worked but it did.
How can you not love this bastage!? He's fargin hilarious!
A fargin dumbice XD
Lolol!! I do!
He's one of the Fargin best characters in the movie!. He may be an Icehole but he's the people's Icehole and WE love this Bastage and all of his Iceholury. 😂😂
No bullschtein.
Rip Dick Butkis
"but don't try no fargin' tricks, otherwise you'll wind up with your bells in a sling", too funny!
I remember seeing the movie on Comedy Central when I was in high school in the mid-late 90's; went to school the next day talking like Roman Maroney in study hall. We're all supposed to be quiet with no talking and his face was red and a vein was popping out of the side of his head while trying not to laugh 😆
Moroney was always my favorite character in this movie. As far as I'm concerned, without him there wouldn't really be a movie.
Maroney was classic, but there wasn't a character in the movie I can't quote. From "My mother hung me on a hook once... *once*" to "Johnny if I don't get laid I'm gonna die..."

Haha haha that’s gold
👍🍀 One day I want to visit dublin!! Or anywhere in Ireland
@Rulya Mórrigan Ard Mhacha I can vouch for this, even though I am merely of Irish descent.
Your phonetic spelling of "dwork" made my day.
Fargin Awesome! Lol
What a mouth on that guy!!!!!
He must have picked up that language as a boy in Sweden.
@@gh9111That can’t be fargin true. The suminabatch Moronie claims he’s not from there. (at least according to that newspaper)
My late mother always loved this movie. The "farging icehole" line became a staple expression in our household.
My favorite line of this movie is, "Calm down? I'm standing here with my DORK in my hand!" 🤣🤣🤣
"Your testicles and you." It's like "Duck and Cover," but it's more ballsy.
Bennie ya bald headed beauty.. your still with me
So many subtle jokes - like the guy at the door stamping everyone’s hand to get into the club
Lol
What I love is that when I've seen this play on network TV, they don't edit any of Moroni's stuff.
+disconnected22 That is fargin' icesome
Why would they? The joke is that he is already saying things that were used to dub expletives in The Godfather for cable tv.
The crime of the century...That Roman Maroni wasn't in more movies
Agreed. Can you picture a mouth off between Maroney and Les Grossman?
So true
He was Chessebuger in the horse racing movie Let It Ride with Richard Dreyfuss. He made it better.
Absolutely. They should've written a spin-off starring his character.
"Dundee, sumanabatcha, my own-a club !!" ......that gets me every time !
Still love this movie!! I don't know how Morney could curse like that without busting into laughter himself
Goes to show how professional he is :)
"You fargin sneaky BASTAGE!" 😅
Legend has it that Samuel L. Jackson learned how to cuss like a pro by apprenticing with Roman Moroni
"knock down that fargan wall!! Knock down that fargan walll !! " great movie
Now I’m really angry! This is FARGIN WAR!!!!
LoL

It will never get old, never.
The whole movie was laughs. I feel bad for anyone who hasn't seen it. I can recite Marone's day in court. :-p
+Dave Bartosh Well to be fair I have seen this movie once.....once.
+Regal Panda :)
Dave Bartosh. If a train left New York....
You farging iceholes have violated my farging civil rights. 🤣
"That's a fargin trick question!"
I laughed every time Morony comes out even before he says anything!
Love the look in his eyes at 0:16, so well played! I laugh every day at his modified profane rant!
We all laughed really hard at this as kids because we knew the line he was dancing on... and we respected it! Some of us even... emulated it.
The newspaper headline later on in the movie was hilarious.
"MORONIE DEPORTED TO SWEDEN
Says he's 'not from there' "
man i remember liking this movie when i was a kid but watching it now.. there are parts that make me laugh out loud.. and laugh hard. like i had forgotten about the silly car crash where the guy yells "OH MY GOD" and they just repeat him yelling that. it's like the sound guys loved his take and amused themselves by looping it like that
Is anyone going to acknowledge that he got deported to Sweden even though he's not from there? LMBO!!!
+Barton Taylor I loved that!
that was pretty fargin' great
LMIO
Thos fargin, sneaky, somnabastach ice holes!
To this day, I still swear like Moroney. I loved this film.
For decades I've referred to certain people as bastages.
I forgot that this is where I got it from.
Knock down that wall, knock down that wall, knock down that FARGIN wall!!!

I love this farging movie ! And yes, Its very underrated. So farging funny.
This is one of my five favorite movies, ever.
Moroney steals every scene he's in
'"Roman Moronie never forget a fargin face! I get you kid!"
Loved this show as a kid!!! *_Basstuhges!!!_*
I forgot Dick Butkus was in this movie
The other day, I called one of my customers a “fargin icehole”. Lol
You bastage!!😂
This never ever gets old.
LOL, I forgot how funny Roman Moreny is. "I gonna take your dwork, I gonna nail it to the wall!" LOL hilarious. 1:27
I wonder how many takes they did, trying to play a tough gangster and stay in character while Maroni does on his ranting, saying 'Bastiges, and my fav, 'Fargon Icehole'. The butchered words on paper, funny. But this actor created magic with his hilarious delivery.
"...your bells in a sling"
🤣🤣🤣
Me too, many people have no idea what I'm talking about, until I point to Johnny Dangerously.
Look at the signs on the doors at 0:06
This is fargin comedy gold. They dont make comedy movies like this anymore.
Fargin dumbice
a funny comment on here was that the crime of the century is that maroni was not in more movies.
I concur , fellow patriot ! It's time the American workin' Man grew some stones and says " You shall go no farther , fargin' icehold ! " I thought they worked for us .....
Lock & Load !!!!
Always kills me the most when Moroney called little Johnny a "lousy little cork-sucker"
This is Fargin war.... lol
great investment in buying the dvd allways piss myself laughing at his accent!
The truly brilliant thing about the Moronie character (aside from being funny as hell) was that since what he was saying wasn't true profanity, you could most likely air this on broadcast TV uncut. I love Dick Butkus' line, "What a mouth on that guy..."

Bwuaahaa bwuaahaa bwuaahaa
Best dam movie ever made!
The arraignment scene gets me every time: "That's a farrgin trick question!" [Newspaper: Moroni Departed to Sweden. Claims He's Not From There.]
" You farrgin sneaky bastitch !"
"Tear down that wall, tear down that wall, and tear down that fargin wall"
you fargin sneaky barstige ----Brilliant I still laugh at that today top film...
The best is the headline when he's deported "...claims he's not from there"
Why is there not a Moronie prequel?!!!!
This is brilliant!!!!!
All these years later, I forgot the name of the movie, but I always remembered the lines- YOU FARGIN ICEHOLE! and YOU SUMMONA BOTCH! Well that and My grandmother shot me once......ONCE! 😂😂😂😂😂
My high school shop teacher used to quote this movie all the time.
'This is Fargin WAR'! 😂
I remember he also played Tony Cheeseburger in 1989's "Let it Ride" with RIchard Dreyfuss. That movie is a favorite of mine, too.
*at once upon a time, this movie was the greatest. **_"ONCE."_*
The truly brilliant part of Moronie's character and his mangled use of expletives, was that (besides being very funny) you could probably have aired it on broadcast TV since it wasn't real profanity. Comedy Central showed it, and no censors
Those fargin cool euphemisms!
"Don't bullshtein me. Search the sum a nom batch!" - LOL!!
Saw it in the theater opening weekend originally.
This should be the new way they censor swearing on TV. Genius!
One of funniest fargin movies I've ever seen!
I wish there more videos out of joe piscopos scene...Once!☝️
I have always loved this farging movie.
Maroni owned this movie. Stole every scene he was in. he's the only reason i go back to watch clips from this movie.
any WWE fans out there this movie is where Paul Heyman got his original manger name: Paul E. Dangerously
That fargin' samanambatchen icehole Moroney, carried that movie on his fargin' back.......that face, that make-up.... (Screen presence)
Moroney should have starred in his own fargin' series of movies.
fargin' producers and critics......
Good news, I heard Moronie found serenity in Sweden. It's supposedly a very happy country.
just said "sominabech" 15 minutes ago and had to come see this on RUclips.
This needs to be shown in every high school.
Love it forever! ❤️❤️❤️🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Only took me 20 years, but I finally found the sound byte from Stickdeath Crackhouse Cleanup 1:33
I just want you to know, I go both ways. Love this movie. Lol
This is like watching Friday on USA Network.
All I have to do is see Moroney and I start dying....lol
I'm one of the 356 people world-wide who saw this at the theater.
This is Fargin War!
Maroney deported back to Sweden, says, he's not from there!
Masterpiece
My dad took me to see this movie in the theater when I was 11 or 12. I never swore in front of my parents until I was in my 40s...but they were ok with the substitute swear words, knowing exactly what they meant. Dont bullshtein me!
you sommannna batch. the 80's got a LOT of things right in movies.
Oh yeah, I still quote the courtroom lines to people randomly...lmao Michael Keaton...he was Batman when I was a kid and because our last names are spelled similarly everyone use to ask me if I was related to him. After a while I just told everyone that he was my uncle.
The actor that played Moronie was in The World's Greatest Lover
C'mon.. Henchmen and Henchwomen !!! EOE you know what I'm saying !!!
i love this movie. so much.
I swear they must have had to do several takes on every scene Maroni was in because how did these guys not laugh every time he starts talking 😂😂😂😂
This is a great fargin clip. 😅
