We can make prediction based on the Prophecy in the Bible, but that doesn't make us a prophet. Such as after the Mark of the Beast.

I've had trouble when it comes to preaching anything from Ellen white because John in the bible said that there would be no more prophets after him. I know her messages are from God but others like my son refuses her even though she's being proven right daily.

That is not what he said Read the whole chapter (Luke 16) for context Luke 16:16 and bearing in mind that the 12 apostles and subsequent apostles were also prophets.. Paul, Peter, John the writer of Revelation were all prophets. Stephen whom they stoned, etc etc etc.
