The US spends millions every year on Independence Day, why is the Shah vilified by ill informed people for a once in a lifetime ritual that goes back thousands of years???? Monarchy is a huge part of Iranian custom, tradition, and history. I, for one, am proud and wish I could have been there.

Had the Pahlavis took the Crown Jewels, Iran would've completely fallen apart economically, AND it would have made them look like thieves.
