Yay!! Super happy for you guys!!
I'm super excited to help my mom bag her first ever moose!... Only problem is where we are in Saskatchewan, finding the moose is gonna be the challenge.
Would making cow calls a week before season opens be early enough to tempt bulls?

Not sure when the season opens there but be careful calling before the season opens. Sometimes it educates them and makes them harder to call in when you actually hunt

Seasoned moose hunter here from out east in NB, over here our moose are just starting to rut and the last week of Sept into the first weekend of Oct is usually when the peak rut hits. If you can make a decent one, a few bull grunts can go a long way. I like to start with cow calls for a bit before legal shooting light, then switch to a bull routine about 15min into legal light.
My favorite tip I learned is to bring a water bottle and pour some in a puddle or on a big rock (anywhere that'll splash loudly) and either scrape some brush and/or do a bull grunt to simulate one marking his territory. I use this tactic to try and get a bull to close the last couple hundred yards or so to give me a shot. Good luck!
