I'm an old school EQ vet For all the stuff about the game that used to PO me (xp loss from death, almost impossible to solo past certain levels, trains, KSing, link death etc, I will always have a fond nostalgia for the game and to this day I will still play my old toons from time to time. The bad is outweighed by the good: the friends made, the sense of wonder and exploration when finding a new zone, the old school graphics, the sounds and music, etc. Amazingly, EQ is one of those nostalgic things that one can still experience again because the game is still running, most of the time when you have nostalgia for something, it's been long gone
I love that you're able to take a break from the game and come back to it periodically. Your enthusiasm is the best, purest kind of love for this game and genre. I am always enthralled by your rants, Dessius. Much love.
decided to dive back into LIVE with a few friends a few months ago after many years away! Have been having a ton of fun and reconnected with some guys i played with almost a decade ago. Nothing like the EQ community
Thank you for the video. I also come and go from EQ, but I will always retain fond memory of it. RL now dictates that evenings are out, raiding is out, and the occasional solo excursion on a weekend is my limit, but it still makes me happy. I think my greatest knowledge is Kunark to PoP, and after that it degrades. I still have a gold account on Live and own through Laurion's Song, but I just find it extremely hard to play effectively within my time constraints in the most current xpacs. I am pretty much 1-shot fodder for most mobs. Regarding eqemu, I got to 16 on Quarm, and very impressed also with the Zeal UI upgrades. The UI is better than EQ Live. However, my love of the game is more in the levelling, so I tend to make a lot of low level characters to play around with. Ultimately, fond memories, still play it on Live (normally xpac minus 1). Keep up the good work with the videos. You do a great job and speak clearly. Looking forward to the next one.
Me and my wife used to duo a pally / druid combo, it was great. After she quit I logged both our accounts to do an item xfer and got both banned for boxing on P99. I've tried rerolling, but just dont have the time or energy to start from scratch without being twinked as I have young children now. Love getting to re live it a bit watching your videos.
Love the videos bud. I have played it off and on all of my adult life. Been playing heroes journey quite a bit as of late with quarm and p99 sprinkled in here and there. Love playing it later in the year when the weather gets colder and you can open the windows in the house. Get a cold wind blow through the house while I am running around south karana... as a matter of fact, I think I will go log in now. See ya!!
Same about the ebb and flow. I haven't played P99 in ~5 years. But since then I've played on Agnarr, Lazarus, Quarm, and now THJ. There's about a 6-8 month gap between each server I tried out. I never intend to start back up but I stumble across these neat servers. Currently loving THJ (The Hero's Journey). Taking it nice and chill. Enjoying the experience.
I think a really cool addon feature would be to make /say appear as a chat bubble above our heads like in wow. Would help in gameplay and in making videos, showing interactions with other players easier
I played og eq from start to oow then quit for wow. I tried p99 a few times over the years but it’s not the game I missed, it’s the people and the server feeling alive. I’ve never tried tlp but u really should some day. Currently playing thj which is really fun. Some zones I remember, some I either do not or I’ve never been there before
I usually play hard 1 to 5 months or so and then take a few months to a year break. Usually start a new char then because it is hard to come back to an old one.
I used to come back every 2 years maybe. The most recent last year I went back to blue where my toons are. It was so dead it turned me off from playing. Seems weird to me they haven't merged blue and green.
I play every few years on TLP, but krono farmers and GDKPs have really ruined the game for me. I hope Pantheon can fully replace EQ one day. I really want pantheon to succeed. Each time I play an RPG or dnd with friends I just get the urge to make a character. There's just something different about it, I'll play WoW for a few months and end up raidlogging wanting something more. I miss the group focused leveling.

Good times, unfortunately, they are long gone. The best chance is a remaster or remake. I'd check something like that out.
