    Thank you so much for this simple clear video on connecting drain pipes. I'm trying to deal with a problem and was wondering what my options were on joining pipes. !!!

    I wouldn’t use the internal coupler. It constricts the pipe and creates obstructions that can catch anything traveling through the pipe. Generally it’s a good idea to never use single wall. Even though it’s rated as soil tight I still find that some amount of sediment gets through the joint. Whenever I encounter it I try and wrap the crap out of the connections with FDM’s tile tape. I try and get a good 6 inches onto each pipe. However old pipes that are dug up tend to never get clean enough to allow the tape to adhere properly. That’s why I hate the stuff, just a bad product. Thankfully they make the N12 WT and HP Storm/Sewer that are actually designed and manufactured to some decent standards.

    Great job buddy!! I want to use 275 gal totes to catch rain water from my house/shop, then run this pipe to a 20 x 50 garden area about 75 feet away and slightly downhill maybe 4 drop. Then go to a gravity fed drip irrigation system. I guess my question is how could I adapt form the 4 in double wall pipe to 2 in PVC or ABS? Should be easy enough right? PS I love the Colossians verse!!

      Just use a corrugated to pvc coupler and then do you reductions in PVC. Thank you and God bless!

    Can you bring 4" double wall from the house downspouts to a 6" double wall picking up the downspouts and daylighting in a dry creekbed? What sort of connection would you use?

    • @drainmylawn
      @drainmylawn  Год назад +1

      Yes you can, but 4" double wall can already handle aboit double the flow of single wall, so I wouldn't recommend using 6" unless you know you need it.

    Do they make a repair coupling that can be made to add a T in a system that is buried in dirt with no ‘play’ in the pipe

      There something called a "tap tee" that can be used like that. You'll want to seal it with rubberized sealant. You can get them online or at your local irrigation supply.

    any video showing pvc to double wall connection? Thanks

    Okay the advantage of dual wall bell end pipe is it's perfectly water tight and can be used for sewer lines. So how do you connect pvc to dual wall and make it water tight? There's not a single video on it everyone's saying just shove the PVC inside and let the dirt hold it in place but that can't be right for sewage lines. I can't even find tee connectors for dual wall. Is that actually what it's called or is that some landscaping term?

    • @drainmylawn
      @drainmylawn  Год назад

      I don't think double wall is used for sewage.
      Water tightness is one potential benefit of double wall. We typically use it gor strength and higher flow capacity.

      You can’t use n12 on sewers, only storm. Ads makes a sani-tight pipe that is a double wall corrugated rated for sewer use. It has better gaskets than n12.

    Can you connect single wall to dual wall?

    I use the cheap pipes from Lowes. They don't come with a seal but they insert into each other. I use commercial grade silicone sealant on the inside mating surface and on the portion you see on the outside. Two seals water has no chance of getting out roots have no chance of getting in.

      what brand do you use for the silicone sealant?

      @LA-rc7cw SCS1200 made by GE. It says not for submerged use but people who build Aquariums swear by it.

    What is your method of sealing a joint with single wall pipe ?

    • @drainmylawn
      @drainmylawn  Год назад

      Tile tape is what's typically used. We've developed a root blocking wrap that we use in house. Not ready to sell to customers yet though.

    I would still use a good tile tape on that dual wall.

      @drainmylawn  7 месяцев назад

      The tape is good for installing and making sure it doesn't get pulled out. @frenchdrainman tile tape is great.

    Make sure you don’t roll that gasket. If it’s twisted and messed up inside it won’t seal properly and water/roots will get in.

    so what do you do when you have to cut the pipe? you don't have factory hub end or male end w gasket?? looks to be a real PITA. if you (the expert) can't even do it without editing your video how is the ordinary average guy supposed to do it?

      soil-tight or water-tight couplers are available to make connections.

    i use duct tape, i mean, your just getting it tight to set in ground, then dirt will do its job and settle. by the time the duct tape dies, years, soil will be a sealant.

    😂looks like u don’t install them often 🤷🏽‍♂️I installed this at my house 🏡 I found it easier to push n screw it in type meaning turning it so the gasket doesn’t come out 🤙🏽

      @whm3085 sounds likd you're going to have to improvise. Not sure about water tightness though. You may be able to use an HDPE large diameter coupling in conjunction with a gasket and sealant. Half under water is going to make it tough.
