A couple of years ago I was getting interested in trying an SDR and happened to have an opportunity to talk with the guys in the ARRL Lab. The recommendation I got there was for the HF+ Discovery and SDR Console v.3. That's what I bought and I've been very happy with it. I'm sure I'm not using all its capabilities -- in fact I just read an article in the latest Spectrum Monitor that tipped me off to a couple of neat features like video recording (captures the screen as well as the audio) and the multi-receiver matrix window. Based on that article I also just gave SDR# a try. It works fine but I can't see a compelling reason to use it over SDR Console right now. 73

After your comments, I downloaded SDR Console to run my AirSpy HF+ Discovery and now have a great SDR system made for my needs. The AirSpy unit is so tiny that its performance exceeds my expectations. Thanks for your great advice.

I have recently done a comparison with very weak CW signals between the HF Discovery + SDR HF receiver, and a very sensitive low noise HF receiver on the Ham 40M band. My conclusion is, that on CW, the Airspy HF + is equally as sensitive to very weak CW stations as is the receiver. I also run a software graphic equalizer, peaked at 1Khz, to further bring the weak CW up in audio readability, with the CW filter set at 800Hz. Copying weak US CW Hams on 40M at night is very easy even in QSB, right down to the noise floor with my 40M Delta loop antenna. This is an amazing low noise SDR receiver.

Thanks for this video. Do you happen to know what those short blasts of wideband signal are between 14.5 and 14.6 MHz @ 1:47 and 5:15? I see those quite often and at various frequencies. I used to think they were some local device sending RFI. but then I saw the same thing listening to a WebSDR and now on your own device in this video. Thanks!

My AirSpy SDR# does not stay in WFM (or FM either) when receiving NOAA sats. It jumps to USB mode. How can I solve this?

You might find you like your RSPdx more when SDRconnect becomes available.
