Watching the video I originally noted about 10 things that caught my attention, and you managed to address every single one of them. Great video & thanks! 👍
Honestly, imagine what must have been going through the minds of that M113 crew. There's this huge thing chasing you, even as you try to hide from it it's still perusing, you KNOW it's the enemy, it's a tank and you're merely in an APC, if it catches you, you're toast, here it finally catches up to you, you've made your peace ready to accept your fate... Only for the crew of that thing get out, confuse you for friendlies and ask for directions. To quote that Ukrainian soldier from the very start of the full-scale invasion - "We're very lucky that they're so fucking stupid."
BTW its a t-62 based turtle. Looks like a VERY old variant, doesn't even have the M variant modifications. Pretty much obsolete stuff. EDIT As @SgtBelfed pointed out, it does seem like a T62M1 variant. It's a '70/'80 model, not too bad ;)
From other videos of it, it's a T-62M1, with some freshly installed empty reactive armor blocks on the forward hull (the screws securing them are nice and shiny). The box for the laser rangefinder above the barrel is still present, as is the add on composite armor on the turret cheeks. It's lost it's side skirts at some point.
@@halflifeapc8777 "why not T-34" you mean, the country that purchased T-34 from motherfuckin Laos to have T-34 on May 9th parades? I wish I was joking, but that's fact. @@TheArmourersBench yeah, same thing. Keep the explosion away from the vehicle. American soldiers were welding whatever they could find just like the Russians are. It was RPGs. Now it's drones.
Wait, they send out tanks without armaments just to take hits? A literal sacrificial lamb? This is literally "they will run out of bullets before we run out of men" but with tanks. Ofc the driver was confused, he was probably high off his balls, how else could you do a job like that where your mission is to get destroyed so Others won't?
I can imagine how Russians must feel over the absolute state of their armed forces. This is a direct and tangible result of the corruption and incompetence we've seen in Russia's high command since the start of this 3-day special military operation.
None of the "Turtle Tanks" have operational guns. The RA is basically using Tanks with broken autoloaders and worn out barrels as armored trucks because the UA has been destroying supply trucks as they get near the front. Once you remove all the ammo, there is quite a bit of storage space in the turret , the Internal fuel tanks can hold 250 gallons and you can use the deck behind the turret like a truck bed. That's why the "shell" is so big , it's so they can pile stuff up behind the turret. So they load the thing up with just a driver in it, then drive to the front unload everything ,including most of the fuel and then they drive back. This is a bad sign for the RA , it means they have more tanks that are no longer capable of combat because of non-functional guns than they can repair.
So, a ‘tank’ with it’s turret welded in place, with no ammunition, no explosives in it’s ERA (explosive reactive armour without explosives is neither reactive or armour). I reckon the ‘disoriented’ crew were not as disoriented as they claimed, but realised their predicament, really wanted to surrender, but have an excuse should they eventually be traded back to their side.

Asking M113 operators for directions lmfao?
Luke warm iq, Ivan.
Maybe it was more of a "we don´t wanna fight anymore, wink wink" type of asking for directions...
It is better to look stupid, rather than be dead.
Turret rotation is overrated either way
"It's called Smekalka, and it's genius" - Lazerpig😆
Watching the video I originally noted about 10 things that caught my attention, and you managed to address every single one of them.
Great video & thanks! 👍
Ahh that's great to hear, thanks for watching!
EDIT
As @SgtBelfed pointed out, it does seem like a T62M1 variant.
@@SgtBeltfed I didn't see the addon cheeks armor which made me believe it's a very dated variant. Gonna rewatch the video and double check.
Imagine claiming to be the #1 army in the world but having to resort to glorified sheds on a T-64...
Cope harder. I thought Russia was supposed to have run out of ammo and tanks by now? Why aren’t they using T-34s in sheds?
Not even T-64s, those are from the 70s. These are most often on T-62s and even T-54/55 hulls.
@@halflifeapc8777 Cope? Did you watch the video lmfao?
T-62
@@halflifeapc8777 "why not T-34" you mean, the country that purchased T-34 from motherfuckin Laos to have T-34 on May 9th parades?
I wish I was joking, but that's fact. Russia doesn't have any roadworthy T-34s left in their own stock, hence they imported them for the parades. The oldest shite they have that has a chance of working is the T-55, and yeah, they're onto that now.
I could build a nice garage, carport and a shed from all the metal on the turtle tanks and cope cages.
To avoid drone attacks Russia went back in time and made their tanks A7V’s but hey it kinda seems to work
That dont make sense ay all tge A7V armour is too thin it would be a dead Weight in ukraine
I’m joking
Must be hell to Live inside this thing while having literally no defence weapons on it
Looks like the turtle tanks are here to stay.
I really dont get the purpose if it doesnt have a mine clearing kit on it? Like that was the one point of these right? A heavily armored mine clearing vehicle?
yeah was wondering the same as they are only usefull as spearheads
its most likely drone defence, like cope cages
This whole addon is against drones.
@@FabianDialer-vw1zk Yeah but when you put the shell on it takes away the gun which is usually the point of a tank? So its just a tank without a gun. Whats the point?
Looking at the layout of this one I would say it's an improvised APC
0:31 For a moment I thought the shed roof was connected to the tank 🤦♂
Same here.
There was Turtle Tank by the name of Bert
And Bert the Turtle Tank never got hurt
When heard the drone go whirr whirr whirr
He knew just what to do
Run for cover, run for cover
Ukrainian soldiers capturing turtle tank - "yeah... if we were forced to drive a peice of junk like this, we'd discuise it as a shed as well..."
Great presentation thanks 😊
America did this too. They were putting wire mesh and scrap of whatever around them to stop rpg's. It was effective so they started equipping vehicles with it.
No I don't think the US has done anything quite like this. They have used slat armour cages as stand off armour in Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan though.
@@TheArmourersBench yeah, same thing. Keep the explosion away from the vehicle. American soldiers were welding whatever they could find just like the Russians are. It was RPGs. Now it's drones.
What’s the underlying tank platform? Is this a T62 or what? How old is the base platform?
He said T62M
Am I the only one seeing a A7V from ww1
you're not the only one
Wait, they send out tanks without armaments just to take hits? A literal sacrificial lamb? This is literally "they will run out of bullets before we run out of men" but with tanks. Ofc the driver was confused, he was probably high off his balls, how else could you do a job like that where your mission is to get destroyed so Others won't?
Looks just like an A7V "Wotan" from WW1, back to basics for Russia i guess
I still don't see how they're suppose to see outside of that shell to be able to drive
Well the driver of this one seems to have struggled. Some of the better made ones have video cameras for the driver
Russian tanks don't have air-conditioning I can imagine how hot it gets inside that tank with that steel shell trapping even more heat inside.
The turtle shell conveniently ensures that the exhaust from the engine stays trapped near the tank.
I can imagine how Russians must feel over the absolute state of their armed forces. This is a direct and tangible result of the corruption and incompetence we've seen in Russia's high command since the start of this 3-day special military operation.
Why is there 88 on the tank?
It’s safe to assume The Ukrainians put that on there after capturing it. You’re not supposed to mention that…
1:05 "22" as in 22nd Mechanized Brigade?
@JZsBFF No! It’s clearly “88” and it was not there when it was captured which you can see at 1:22 don’t gaslight yourself or others.
@@gadsdenjim8785 You could also just have written: "Thanks for your help, mate, but I don't think that's accurate."
@@JZsBFF He's a right wing nut. We can't expect decency.
Ah Australia captured a A7V too
When the war is over maybe these Russian tank crews can get jobs building sets/vehicles for the next Mad Max movie?
i wonder how they will reverse engineer it.
I think it's pretty obvious that they were actively trying to surrender.
Yea he even waves a ukranian flag
So this is bascialy a Kangaroo apc but worse... guess the crew got lucky
AKA the ol' bread box.
So, its basically a glorified APC?
Pretty much, check out some of my earlier videos on these for more context.
Why did they paint "88" on the side of the tank?
That darn thing is over there looking like a German A7V from WW1...
It's one thing to get lost in that environment and a whole other thing to walk up to what should obvious to you as an enemy and ask directions😂
this turtle tanks had that same vibes as Mendeleev tank
The world's second largest and second most well funded military, by the way...
Don't forget about PLA
imagine getting captured while asking for directions
when your so desperate that your tanks look like a moving scrap shed...
It's possible tanks may be obsolete, but Russia's tanks certainly are. 😂
"Navigation isn't rocket science." - No Russian tanker ever said.
Fixed turret and no ammunition????
' Battle Barns '
"I like turtles"
Well, that Turtle Tank definitely managed to get through the Ukrainian defense lines...
Just not in the way the Rus imagined it.
Assault Garage? 🙂
Susicious grafitti found inside the tank:
" нет плана Б "
🤔
they knew it's one way trip to the battlefield.
@@Dushess Hint #2: Under the camo paint, traces of a layer of black color with detail in red.
It is a mobile vodka bar.
Isn't "blyatmobile" basically just calling it "shitmobile"?
A rough translation but yep
Russia should make turtle boats and turtle subs
