WTF is this ? Is this real ? Looks like a fan film by a bunch of student actors.
In all honesty I think fan made movies look better. There was that one short film the hunt for gollum made by fans with a small budget and it still is better than this garbage.
What a curse it is to be poor, if I were wealthy I'd find a way to make you pay for this mockery
I think elrond is a good version of is young selfe from the film and i love the Drwaf storyline i think the main week spot is gladral dosent feel like the character its hard to explain and the hobbit story couldve been cut as well.
Watching this makes me kinda embarrassed, it's so phoney, the casting is abominable, elves should be beautiful and exude an otherworldly commanding presence, Thranduil is a good template.
Jeez where to even start with this. I hate how everyone always does exposition in this show like everything is of the utmost gravitas and importance because they think that's how Tolkien would do it, even though that was a Peter Jackson thing and only done rarely. It's like they do it to hide how awful the dialogue is, but it just makes it 10x worse. The costumes look cheap, and the elves look exactly like what they really are; dudes with weirdly shaped faces wearing big fake pointy ears. And oh my god, the CGI in this scene looked like something rendered on a PlayStation 2. The idea for mithril they came up with sounds like some awful fandom nonsense from a 16 year old on Tumblr that takes things too literally. Mithril is just a super rare material that shines like silver, is as light as aluminum, and stronger than steel. It didn't need some grandiose otherworldly origin, and the MM is not the only place Mithril is found in Middle Earth, so unless this happened multiple times (which is a hilarious concept to me), it breaks the lore. For the non-Silmarillion readers out there, if any elf figured out how to make another tree of light, it'd be a pretty big deal. I think this was the worst scene of season one, and as ridiculous as Galadriel surviving 1 million tons of pyroclastic flow to the face.
Lolwut
why does lord elrondhere looks older than lord elron on old lotr movies
Gil Galad is the only elf that actually looks like an elf in this show
@adamjames2332 what do you expect from a show’s only purpose is to serve as a cash grab
But he is far far away from Tolkiens Gil Galad
To be fair, Finrod in the show is a great template for the more... feanorian Elves. He actually pops in my head when I think of Celegorm and Curufin.
I also really like Bear McCreary's music (he was already a genius in his BSG days). But yeah, the show is all over the place and not very good in terms of writing.
It's all up for interpretation amigo.

This was fucking soulless. The narration, the fucking visuals. Like copying the style in which Tolkien writes, probably to make the fans feel good, but without actually putting a single emotion or interesting thing into it.
Rings of power made me want to walk into Mordor.
They try to hard to sound poetic 😂
If anything this show will repel ppl from reading Tolkien lol

When i first saw this scene, I had to rewatch it several times over to make sure I was hearing and seeing things correctly. Mithril is essentially silver that never tarnishes. That's it. But this? What even is this? This is such Goliath levels of dumb that it's actually kind of amazing. I don't know what was being smoked during the production of this series, but it must've been some damn strong stuff.
You know what they say, once you make it into a writer's room in Hollywood, there's one thing you'll never have to worry about again, and that's *coke*
It’s called “pure silver” as well but yeah that was bad writing
It was Old Toby. The finest weed in the South Farthing.
@@Renji9031im smoking some now can confirm it is the best
I don't know, I think it's a little unfair to say this scene is dumb. He very clearly says at the beginning that this scene is from a SONG that comes then from "an obscure legend regarded by most to be apocryphal" aka let's not take this literally.
Let’s be real honest here - they totally f*cked up the Rings of Power with weak writing, terrible characters and awful acting. Apart from the injection of wokeness !🙄🤦🏽♂️
Young Elrond is not the worst cast for an Elf, I could see him as Maeglin, or one of Fëanor's sons. Gil-Galad here does have long hair, but his face has no eternal beauty, I do not like him.
God this show was just awful, if lord of the rings was jaws this show was Sharknado
Besides everything about this being dumb, what annoys me the most here is how one of the most expensive tv shows ever made can't make the battle of an elflord clad in light and a Balrog look visually interesting. Dumb writing is expected but come on, at least make your dumb shit look cool.
Wow in the 5th episode??? They really were trying to get people to watch. I literally stopped on episode 4 because nothing happened
Is the 5th episode for this scene too early or too late?
The casting is so bad. It’s cringeworthy.
they literally just reused the model of Durin's bane. They didn't even bother making a new balrog like Shadow of War did with Tar Goroth. LOOK AT IT! THEY JUST REUSED DURIN'S BANE!!!

The Balrog looks pretty good visually, but yes Elrond doesn't really look like Elrond 😒!
Nooo I love Numenor and Valor, the scenario is bad but the quality is here and have a great potential
The amount of detail especially in khazad dum is amazing. There's not been a film set around the Simalarian and here it is in a series. Best thing on amazon I've seen for a while!!
It looks like the hobbit movies more often then not where Everything is bad cgi rather then the excellent practical effects that made lotr a well respected film series in the first place

This show is as good as how the elves look 🤡 😂
Oh no.. this is sad. The cast, costume, dialog, story.. oh no..
This is an excellent backstory for a fantasy metal. It’s just really stupid for Mithril.
B U L L S H I T S
Poor writing because they couldn´t explain how the rings actually worked. They couldn´t explain how the elves put a piece of their will into the rings, so that these could preserve middle earth. Instead, we have a bs explanation about some balrog and elf that created it.
In fact, the Rings of Power are heavy witchcraft, Sauron simply convinced Celebrimbor and company that everything was fine. The Rings were the closest thing to the arts of Enemies that the elves had ever created, it wasn't a good thing.
And how 16 rings were made first with his help. And that the three were made afterward, without Sauron's influence or him knowing about them until he created the one ring. For some unfathomable reason they decided to change all of that.
Lol
The dialogue, acting, costume design, set design & sfx are absolutely abysmal in this show lmaooo the things talented people could have done with a fraction of this budget is depressing
Whilst this series is utter rubbish, they did do the balrog well and faithfully...as well as the light gold armour that symbolised the earlier ages of the elves (with darker armour during Lord of the Rings representing their autumn and eventual fading from this land).
I don't really understand why they felt a need to explain mithril. It's a metal the dwarves found, and it has incredible almost magical properties. That should be enough.
man i’m glad i ain’t a hardcore lotr fans lol cause i’ve been really enjoying this show especially season 2 from what it looks like the only ones who don’t like this show are the book readers same can be said about me for house of the dragon lol season 2 was horrible from a book reader’s perspective
This is as almost as bad as game of thrones season 8. Like not enough for me to genuinely think about death and ending it all like “The Long Night” did for everyone. Like never before did I ever have this greater urge to burn down the entire city of Hollywood California. I mean season 8 of GOT was such a bastard of slime I genuinely think we should have stopped filming all media for 2 years. Like it’s just not comprehensible how bad it is. Sorry god I am SO SCARRED from that shit. No jokes
The Rings of Power was an insult to all things good about Tolkien’s work. Proof than pouring millions of dollars into a project doesn’t give it quality.
May not be what Tolkien envisioned as the source of Mithril but it is a fantastic and creative origin that some may hate for not being canon to which I respond a ton of shit in Peter Jackson LoTR wasnt canon either.
They just made up their own shit
Man fuck this shit they could have said that glorfindel was this elf's name and then make a small exposition about the city that it was the last hope for the free people in the first age and thats it you have endless screen time and money to actually do this so why not just do it and invest screen time in building characters as they are written in the books i mean you can understand gandalf from wht he does in the first hour of the movie and his personality why they have to portray galadriel for example as a strong warrior which she wasnt and not as the most beautiful wisest and blessed with the valinors light elf that she is from the first age?
I don‘t get why on one hand they try to separate themselves from the PJ-Movies and at the same time „borrowing“ the visuals, such as the Balrog. Which‘s design was developed specifically for the Trilogy.
1000% agree
there's a video on RUclips of an artist sketching what he thinks is a balrog as he reads the direct passage from the books, and it looks _completely_ different. Looks dope as hell, but yes, extremely different from what we see in the Fellowship. I recommend watching it!
Amazon is falling in these weird in between where they aren't producing anything original but also not paying homage to Jackson/s LOTR and it just seems like this whack mess.
is their any evidence suggesting a different elemental Balrog ever existing? or are they all Maia with affinity to fire... bc a lightning Balrog would be terrifying ide imagine 😮
As far I seen or read, it is only fire
This is what Gandalf says on recounting his fight with Durin’s Bane after falling into the water: “HIS FIRE WAS QUENCHED, BUT NOW HE WAS A THING OF SLIME, STRONGER THAN A STRANGLING SNAKE.”
Well the great thing there is that maybe there are fallen maiar associated with lightning. It's just that the name balrog doesnt refer to them.
This show is the 2004 US basketball team
worst cast in the history of TV shows
what a disgrace of a show
This show looks so stunning and brave. The Tolkien estate should be ashamed of giving the rights to these people.
Why tree? What tree was it? Why?
Why does this balrog look exactly like the balrog from Moria, is it meant to he durins bane or is this some other random balrog? Because theyre not meant to look the same as each other so that's just laziness (and a missed opportunity) if they couldnt be bothered to make something creative to represent a different balrog
Does anyone know of this vid on RUclips without embedded subtitles? I have an where I can have gifs for live wallpaper. I'd love to have the balrog and the tree scene as gif for wallpaper. Thank you in advance

When I thought about it, the notion of a Silmaril held the roots of a magic tree wasn't near so dumb as it first seemed. It actually made a LOT of sense. I also liked that the Balrog was shown as a highly sentient & highly sinister force of evil, channeling sorcerous hate. But, to the Silmaril, remember that the light of the Silmarils came from what?? ENCHANTED TREES!! Two of the most enchanted and sacred trees in the history of Arda, Telperion and Laurelin. IF EITHER of 2 lost Silmarli, the one lost in the depths of the sea and the other in the depths of earth, either rose near the surface or were driven there by the upheave of the ruinof Beleriand, it actually makes PERFECT sense that flora would grow fair and abundantly atop them, and if a Silmaril & its light wound up anywhere near an acorn, pinecone etc, it goes without saying that an amazing and enchanted tree would grow up over it. So while there are some narrative choices this show has made that are silly, questionable or flat out dumb, this ( at least the tree part, and the battle over it ) may not be one of them.
What a terrible show.

stop turning Tolkien into a commercial for breath-mints. orc, Man or undecided.
I tried to watch and see something positive about this show, I really did. But even if we were to accept the ridiculous idea that mithril was created from a tree being struck by a lighting, that would not have been a complete bullshit, if not for the fact that Mithril was also found on Numenor, Eregion and Aman, with Misty Mountains having just the biggest amount of ore, so unless there were more than one balrog fighting with more famous elves over other famous trees truck by a lighting in other parts of middle earth, this story is complete bullshit.
Its strongly impled Tolkien was inspired by titanium or platinium when making Mithril, and the idea for it came from the Hervarar saga where Orvar-Odd wore a indestructable chain mail.
Its like watching money laundering on a screen.
Uter rubbish Durin the 6th woke the Balrog in the third age ffs

Sad, why didn't they let someone with passion and respect fot the material to direct it😑

The original trilogy's balrog scene is one of the most iconic and unforgettable moments in cinema history. Balrog scene in rings of power, completely forgot it even existed.
Can someone explain what happened to the elf? Only the balrog was found in the depths of the mountain.
Don't listen to this nonsense, this show is rubbish against Tolkien's work.
@@immortal_jairo88 i guess it's time to pick up the books then. The series wasn't mindblowing but i really enjoy the scenography and characters of LOTR. It's truly beautiful.
@@Mm-dn5gc yes read it and you'll love it. Is way better than the show.
We dont know if tu balrog in the depths of mountain is the same who fought the elf
@@antoniojr6666 no no, you talking about Glorfindel? Yes he fought a Balrog but it was a different Balrog. The other Balrog from the depths, Durin's Bane, escaped from the wrath of the Valar in the war of wrath long long ago.
I truly feel that the only reason this show still has hope…. Is do to Elrond and durin , writers may of doomed the show but these two actors keep me hopeful
I think it's the best scene in the entire series. Very well portrayed. The origin of Mithril isn't canonical, more like a legend. The only thing that bothers me is the statement about the heart. It's blasphemous to say that this elf had a heart like Manwë. No elf or mortal is comparable to a Valar. I'd need to think about how to phrase it better. Perhaps something like "The fire Feanor sowed still burns in the heart."

Because "myths" in Lotr are things that happened that have simply faded from mens memories. Elves are immortal and don't forget.
@@tid06 Lol and this aint one of them. This garbage belongs in boardgames
all you people crying about how the story of mithril is dumb...you guys realise this show is not your Holy Bibbbbble, right? not everything everyone says in it is gospel truth. just because the characters believe something, that doesn't make it true, even in the context of the show's own lore. all this clip shows is a myth that Gil-galad believes. he even says so himself.
Except they show that the mithril does restore the Mallorn leaf in a later episode. Showing that the mithril does has magical properties of restoration. They are heavily implying that the story is true. Which is dumb
@@AngmarCosplay I'm rewatching the show right now; will keep an eye out for this. In any case, mithril having the power of restoration isn't the same as the myth being true
seriously though, if i can buy that the elves have magical invisibility threads, i can buy that there exists magical mineral super-glue as well
It's insulting to even think Gil-galad would be so dumb and behave even remotely like he does in this shitty depiction. They did not need to make an explanation to why there is mirthril just like no one needs an explanation to why there are diamonds, gold, iron etc. They did this to make a cool scene with a balrog lol so fucking stupid.
If you’re into Tolkien it’s a disgrace. I went in with an open mind like many others. Pure trash
so in this rat of a show are they trying to imply that the battle of glofindel vs the balrog created mithrill??? also the elf that fought the balrog on top of the mountain should be next to elrond he can just ask.
