In this episode in our series of bonsai techniques we will be covering the late spring trimming of Japanese maple forest. The purpose of this video to show how to summer trim a Japanese maple forest that has been neglected for two years and has lost it's initial form. As the buds of this maple starts to break it is a great opportunity to start its restyling. As the tree has leaved out and harden off, any time after that is an excellent time to cut back strong branches to let air and sunlight back into the structure. If we needed to grow these branches out for girth and thickness I would not be trimming this tree at all. This video will be in conjunction of a series where we will dive deeper into Japanese maple species. So please join us in this new series.
