What a lovely, almost bucolic setting for a cemetery. I just loved this wee walk through history. It is astonishing that so many of these pieces of porcelain and photos are intact after two World Wars. As for the lady in her "eternal slumber photo", I have always been fascinated by them as my grandmother Pruitt's people were religious about postmortem photography. While I did find her collection macabre when I was a child, I sure wish I had them now. There were ambrotypes and tintype photos from the late 1840s, 1860s all the way up to her mother's funeral who died in my lifetime back in the 1980s. I well recall her great aunt's photos from 1918. There were funeral torches attached to the corners of her coffin and wheat bound in wreaths and sheaves all along the middle... mouth gaping open. Any way, enough of my stories. Thanks so much for this lovely video, Sue. Hope you had a glorious visit. Be blessed and be well in all things.
What a fascinating place Sue. I wonder if this place is the equivalent of the monumental stonemasons that we often find just outside the graveyard gates. It gives you the idea of what you can buy for the graves. Thank you so much for taking the time to find these wonderful places. Since we’ve become disabled we can’t do the graveyard expeditions as we called them. Scotland has some lovely wee places
You may be in a cemetery and looking at photos of loved ones. Somehow it brings life to that person in the photo because you can think about them and imagine what their life was like. I find it comforting and very caring to those that have passed. A memory of them.
For some folks all they had was that last photo. All my loved ones are gone. I'm alone. I found my hubby deceased outside. I will never forget it. It haunts me. When I see those postmortem photo's my heart goes out to the family but I also understand. Heart breaking.
Ot is heartbreaking, we never forget them, the pain lasts, we just learn to live with it, I'm sorry about your hubby, certainly not easy finding him like that but he is with you x x
I've always loved looking at photos on the stones. They let you see who that person was. That area in the beginning was beautiful. The porcelain flowers are very pretty. This is one of my favorite videos.
My favorite video yet . It's just so peaceful. I love the idea of meeting the person by their photos. Very tranquil video Sue. fantastic work and thanks for sharing
One thing I always dreaded while working at a mortuary was working with children. Many people think we get use to it after awhile. That is far from the truth. It would take a long for me to get back to being myself. Good video Sue. Take care and God bless.🙏🏻❤
I think toddler and older children do invoke sadness. They have been in life awhile & have attachments to the people who love them & whom they love, as well. It’s more for the people they have left behind here, I think. Once they are in God’s arms, all is Good for them. It’s those left still in Earthly life that mourn. 💚💚💚💚
What a beautiful cemetery Sue. Cemeteries in the United States are not so beautiful and well kept as overseas. Thanks for sharing all these beautiful graves and pictures with us! Your the best. God Bless!
I wish you could come back with someone who either knows the language or some of the history of this fascinating cemetery. I love that there are photos on the grave, it gives so much more meaning. Yes is is always sad to see the graves of children.

I just love the walk you've taken us with you. What Im impressed that families aren't forgotten as the display of photos are set on top for view. Very peaceful as I love it the most. You would wonder how often family members visit for many probably moved away or died elsewhere. Again thank you Sue , this is different and I like it very much.
Hi Sue thanks again. The grounds are beautiful feel like I'm walking with you. The photos are beautiful of their loved ones makes you feel when you see them they are not forgotten xxx
It is so interesting to see how so many funeral customs are the same across many countries and oceans. But then there are the poignant, unique customs in those countries too. I love those sweet porcelain flowers, and the pictures are so touching. You are right, it is like when I see their pictures I say "hello" to these sweet souls. It reminds me there are sweet souls alive now...and to take the opportunity to say hello! I am amazed how well-preserved and untouched by vandals this location is. I am happy to see the respect and love for those who have paved the way for us that follow. Wouldn't it be great to travel to more countries and continents to see their funerary customs? I love the history of cemeteries and graveyards and even though I do find all the photos of the people that have passed I still find it heartbreaking. They all had lives, they lived, laughed, loved and cried, just like we all do. Looking upon their faces brings them to life again and I love that, I love that for a few minutes whilst we look at them they exist. But seeing the children...absolutely heartbreaking. Makes me want to hold them in my arms to keep them safe from whatever happened to them. A beautiful video Sue, thank you ❤ xx
Wow it is so Beautiful. The way they have everything so organized. I'm actually glad you went to the section of just crosses, let's you know they even respected the poor. Some as you know won't even put a cross up. I love the way you're so respectful of the dead..❤💪🏽🕊🦋🙏🏽

May your mom rest in peace. Are you starting your own channel? Let me know if you do, if I can help I will, mind yourself
Beautiful cemetery. I love when they have the old photos on the gravestones. My grandparents are Italian and are buried in an Italian Catholic cemetery and many there have photos. I love to look at them. Saying it’s like you met them is a great way to describe it. I should have mentioned that their graves are in the U.S. 🙂 Also, I loved that modern looking skull.
I don't speak the French they do in Belgium, but I think those graves devoted to the Zusters are actually an order of Beguines, which is really neat. It's abeen a while since I read about them, but the Beguines were an "order" of lay sisters (they lived in cloisters and took vows of poverty and chastity, but wer enever ordained or under the control of the medieval church. They often specialized in women's health, specifically obstetrics and midwifery. Thanks for the nice walk, Sue!
Boy Sue i would be done walking in a block or so. Thanks for all that walking. I could not do what you do i would need a chair. Beautiful cemetary. Thanks for your hard work. And all the history there.

Hi sue wow that's beautiful in there with all the photos and headstones and everything else amazing the photos are amazing lovely cemetery sue and video it's definitely a bit old cemetery beautiful sue thanks for sharing rest in peace everyone in this cemetery 🙏💐 take care sue 👍
Thank you Sue for the wonderful walk through this beautiful cemetery, I love seeing the pictures too, it is almost like you do know them by seeing who they were. ❤
Oh Sue! How beautiful and heart rendering. Seeing their faces makes me wonder how their lives were...were they happy? Did they have a good life? Did they find love? So thought provoking!!!
Hello Sue…… what a lovely place! But I agree with you about Lena’s death bed photo….is that really how you want your loved one to be remembered? I’m sure there must have been happier ones they could have used. That’s sad. Then you get the baby Monique! So heartbreaking! Yes! It does feel as if you have now met the person when you see their photo likeness. I did like the little museum You found…and like you I love those old porcelain or bisc ware flowers. Just a shame they break so easily on a grave where a lawn mower can hit them. As a child I remember a beautiful floral arrangement in bisc ware with two doves and a glass dome over the top to protect. I can still remember how devastated, I was aged nine when I visited and found a stone from the mower had hit the glass, and after that it just went green an crumbled. I wept. Never saw another one there. Lovely blue sky and green trees etc! You mentioned a man from Barton Bendish in Norfolk. I know Barton Bendish, very flat farming land, not a large population, and I don’t recognise the name. Fancy finding him out there!! The graves here seem much more packed in together …but I like the trees hanging over them, almost protectively…. Thankyou for walking in the heat, and sharing your beautiful video, I’d love to visit myself, but that may not happen, so it’s huge for me, when you do this . Bless you and Thankyou so much. Safe trip home! Love and hugs! Helen xxx👩🦳🙏💕🌹xx Godbless you!
I've really been enjoying all your videos. And your partner from grave visitations. You guys are great! This old southern girl absolutely loves both of your accents. I could listen to you talk all day❤❤❤
Thank you Sue. A nice walk. I wonder of the huge amount graves with the crosses you kept saying suster, if they might be "Sisters" Nuns? With Mother and Fathers as well. From the church. Anyway it was a nice walk, even though it was raining here in Colorado, as i watched. Thank you.
When there's a photo the stones don't seem so hard they now have an occupant when we drive by houses we wonder who live in there. With the photos it's like a whole household they're all together. I love your videos.
Thank you, Sue. Many of my family members are buried here, including my grandfather, who died in Belgium, fighting in WWII. With family from both Ireland and Belgium, it's a gift to see these places. God bless 💛
I have to say they are in the most beautiful place I have seen on my channel. I'd love to be laid to rest here, may all your family who have passed rest in peace 🙏
@@SerenitySueGraveyards It does look beautiful, doesn't it? It's like nothing I've ever seen before. It's nice to know my family is here. Thank you for the family blessings 💛
So beautiful and peaceful. So different from the wide lawns and flat headstones common here. I love the many different styles as well as the photos reminding us that each of those resting places mark real people who would undoubtedly be amazed that strangers are visiting them over 100 years after they passed.
So many beautiful, beautiful things in this cemetery! Walking down the mossy rows looks like a moving impressionistic painting. The individual graves are so artistic and personal. As for that private section, I wonder if all the cemetery elements were once for sale? "Tentoonstelling" means exhibition, but I wonder in what context. Nice post mortem photo. Some of them can be very beautiful. I have seen a few around here. They're not for everyone, but sometimes that's the only photo the family may have.
What a beautiful cemetery. The stones and monuments are gorgeous. You're right about the] pictures, the babies and little children are the hardest to look at. So sad. Thank you for showing us around this amazing place. It does seem like we're following around with you.
What a beautiful cemetery you can tell Autumn is on its way by the colours of the leaves on the trees . Thankyou for sharing your time in Brussels with us .
You always have a wonderful time finding unusual things in cemetery's Sue, all the pictures are amazing, the babies and such young children so sad💖😪, WHOOA there was a name on those crosses, one said Lust, that's my mom's maiden name! At 16:30 in your video,,,,!from Lynda in Alberta Canada 🇨🇦
Sue I appreciate all your work..I especially appreciate when you give creedence or attention to deceased children. They all most likely died of diseases that today can be treated and cured.. TB ran rampant back.then in the 1800s
We don’t have graveyards like this where I live in Indiana. Of course, we aren’t as old a country as you all are. I would give anything to walking with you there:-). Thank you for showing us how beautiful this graveyard is🙏
The word 'TENTOONSTELLING' means 'EXHIBITION' which is a public display of arts and crafts. You walked through the exhibition of deceased peoples' photos and wall art of porcelain china roses and hands reaching to touch others' hands in friendship fixed on the stone wall.
@@SerenitySueGraveyards Sue, I think everything on display there came from graves they couldn't find. And I saw signs saying that the families of certain graves had to pay for renewed burial rights. If that doesn't happen, the graves will be cleared and certain ornaments will probably end up in the exhibition space. Burial rights are about the same in Belgium and the Netherlands. You pay for burial rights for 10 years, for example, and when that time has passed, you can pay for another 10 years. This is because they can free up grave space for new graves. Both Belgium and the Netherlands simply don't have that much land. So they are a bit more practical about it.

I agree. There is a connection when you see a portrait of someone. It brings them to life in your mind.
How beautiful. Looks like vandals don't bother this cemetery. In the USA, those photo's would be destroyed.

@@SerenitySueGraveyards You are very much welcome! Thank you very much for getting back to me! Take care 🙂
I did like the little museum
You found…and like you I love those old porcelain or bisc ware flowers.
Thanks Helen, perhaps it was the only photo they had taken back them of the lady in her death bed
So peaceful and beautiful... so many families, life's lived. Thank you for sharing, such a green setting, lots of trees, looks very old.
Yes, thank you
I've really been enjoying all your videos. And your partner from grave visitations. You guys are great! This old southern girl absolutely loves both of your accents. I could listen to you talk all day❤❤❤
Thank you so much 💓
Thank you Sue. A nice walk. I wonder of the huge amount graves with the crosses you kept saying suster, if they might be "Sisters" Nuns? With Mother and Fathers as well. From the church. Anyway it was a nice walk, even though it was raining here in Colorado, as i watched. Thank you.
Yes, Zusters are sisters, as in nuns
Hi Serenity. Love the channel and the beautiful and eerie locations you travel. Cheers🍻
Thanks so much!
When there's a photo the stones don't seem so hard they now have an occupant when we drive by houses we wonder who live in there. With the photos it's like a whole household they're all together. I love your videos.
Thank you ❤️
Thank you, Sue.
@melissah4084 ❤️❤️
So beautiful and peaceful. So different from the wide lawns and flat headstones common here. I love the many different styles as well as the photos reminding us that each of those resting places mark real people who would undoubtedly be amazed that strangers are visiting them over 100 years after they passed.
That is so true, I hope my visits remind those who have passed that they are indeed remembered
Yes an exhibition but then who's photos are they and there were graves too, a little strange but just so beautiful
You could add these ornaments as an upsale when ordering a gravestone.
Sue, such a beautiful cemetery and a beautiful video. Thank you for sharing this.
You are so welcome
What a beautiful cemetery. The stones and monuments are gorgeous. You're right about the] pictures, the babies and little children are the hardest to look at. So sad. Thank you for showing us around this amazing place. It does seem like we're following around with you.
Thank you so much 💓
What a nice cemetery. It looks like it could be the start of Fall there also. Some of the trees look like they are changing colors.
Lived the trees
Wow absolutely stunning
What a beautiful cemetery you can tell Autumn is on its way by the colours of the leaves on the trees . Thankyou for sharing your time in Brussels with us .
Thanks so much
You always have a wonderful time finding unusual things in cemetery's Sue, all the pictures are amazing, the babies and such young children so sad💖😪, WHOOA there was a name on those crosses, one said Lust, that's my mom's maiden name! At 16:30 in your video,,,,!from Lynda in Alberta Canada 🇨🇦
Thanks so much, never heard that surname before, that's great you saw it
Your videos are beautiful. Thank you for aharing.

That cemetery is so beautiful. Reminds me of our own Spring Grove Cemetery in Cincinnati.
It is absolutely gorgeous
Such an amazing cemetery. People of that era really wanted their deceased love ones to be in a beautiful place to rest.
Yes and they got this place right, I'd love to be buried here
A beautiful visit! Thank you for sharing your journey!

What a beautiful grave yard. I like the photos of the people, it's putting a face to the name & bringing them to life
Me too, it's just so beautiful and cared for
That place is beautiful ! Looks like a paradise to be buried in..the moss on everything and the trees..oh I love it!
I hope the camera shared my experience, I just loved every inch of this place ❤️
Loved it thank you
You are so welcome!
Sue I appreciate all your work..I especially appreciate when you give creedence or attention to deceased children. They all most likely died of diseases that today can be treated and cured..
TB ran rampant back.then in the 1800s
Thank you Rita x
What a beautiful graveyard that is. I enjoy seeing the photos makes you feel a part of it. Hope your heart is healed. Please take care
Thank you, you too
We don’t have graveyards like this where I live in Indiana. Of course, we aren’t as old a country as you all are. I would give anything to walking with you there:-). Thank you for showing us how beautiful this graveyard is🙏
You are most welcome, it's like someone painted this place, so perfect and beautiful
The word 'TENTOONSTELLING' means 'EXHIBITION' which is a public display of arts and crafts. You walked through the exhibition of deceased peoples' photos and wall art of porcelain china roses and hands reaching to touch others' hands in friendship fixed on the stone wall.
I figured that later on, maybe a way of showing people what they can have on their graves oo
