Chad Smith is one of the most innovative drummers I know.
And also an incredibly likeable guy. He always plays exactly what the song needs. Nothing more, but nothing less either.
And this Dua Lipa song needs exactly that funky disco beat. "Chad, it couldn't have been done better - thank you!"

He plays the part he did for Ozzy Osborne, Patient Number 9, on Drumeo too. That's probably more down your alley. There's a pretty good drum solo video he did at Drumtek in Melbourne Australia, too.

I just got my drum journey started! I played them a bit when I was in high school but switched to guitar cuz I met a bad ass drummer and we wanted to start a band. I picked the drums back up in may 2022.

I could argue that a lot of 80's bands sounded the same too. It's whats currently popular, so you're gonna hear similar styles and voices

You know exactly why music and artists sound the same. You just can't say it on here, but I do have a suggestion. Listen to Californication and pay close attention to lyrics.

New generations are here, and listen to this kind of music, what can we do, everywhere is the same in the world, I call it "plastic", such as: faces, behaviour, art, attitudes, etc (not all, of course)

Bloos Sugar Sex Magik was far from a "radio rock" album

I will contest what you said about all Pop Singers sound the same, that's actually probably where they are most distinctive, if you're voice isn't recognizable, you aren't getting on the radio. What does sound the same is the production/song make up. Production has gotten to good and streamlined, it's sort of boxed in a lot of artists, 4 chords, no time change or even key change. It's not all pop, but its 80% of it.

And every singer’s voice is pitch corrected, so the listener really has no idea if they can actually sing or not.

Chad Smith is more of a funk drummer, so when he's playing rock it's a walk in the park. BTW he's certainly closer in style and abilities to Will Calhoun than he is to Lars Ulrich... the guy knows what "in the pocket" means.
But I see what you mean about RHCP being "radio rock", it's quite the case since the Californication album.

Pop is derived from popular music. All major chords, bright and fluffy. Its actually quite depressing. Pop isnt genre defined. Its literally whats popular at the time. Thats why things like poprock exist. Over commercialized songs thats non offensuve that you can hear while out shopping. Which brings back the 1b streams. The major stores just have a loop of a few songs going on ovrr and over. Multiply that by all the stores throughout the state. Thats one company. Im dragging because i agree.

4:45 - 110%. Someone could have told me this song was by Sia, Ariana Grande or Taylor Swift, and I'd have not batted an eyelid.

No, you're not getting old, you're just a pretentious metal guy. The "it all sounds the same" has always been and still is the stupidest argument. You can say the same thing about metal. Especially when it comes to shouting or growling it is even more often extremely similar. You just don't like but don't act like it's just the same when it's in every genre similar.
