A casual creative here 👋🏼 here is my point of view. What made me buy my first action-oriented camera last year (insta360 x3) was the promise of user-friendly software/app. I always wanted a GoPro but never pulled a trigger on it because I knew that no matter how much footage I made, it would likely never see the light of day and remain on the memory card forever.
I was immediately sold when I saw the Insta360 commercial showing the simplified editing and publishing process. Bought the camera the same day. And used it so many times during my ski trips. I genuinely have a lot of fun playing with it, its simplicity enables my creativity.
Now, during my research to learn the camera ins and outs, I discovered that the majority of RUclips gear reviewers spend most of their time arguing about the shortcomings of the hardware. The “specs crowd” almost never rates the device on the “fun to use” factor. And for a general consumer, that’s the main selling point. Will the device make me happy or hurt my brain? And in my book, insta360 is definitely a lot of fun.

Same here. I just got my x3 last April and I have been having lots of fun with it. Even got my sister to buy her own. When the x4 comes out, I will get it immediately.

Hoping for a bundle that has a “protection” scheme to it, as the ones currently in store are just for the screen. & underwater. Perhaps a durable case, with screen protectors & lens protection. It seems like a great camera but a camera can only be so good for as long as it lasts; coming from someone who intends to use this camera in the outdoors at high speeds typically.
Wouldn’t want it to somehow go flying and it’s completed busted because of it.
The accidental warranty is nice but it’s only for one year at most. Which seems too short.

😂 yes, screen protection for the flip section ? but nothing for the front of the camera? In motocross lots of rocks being thrown at the face of the camera- lens and front screen no protection. An early review had a twist off like Gopro lens cover . Why not?

*It looks like My GO 3 but w/o the removal of the Camera. It's pretty cool how they are now adding things like a Flip Screen which yeah it's cool you can see with the DJI & GoPro thru the front of the Camera but having a Flip up Screen makes more sense to me in terms of how much more screen to make touch and of course there's going to be some sort of AI as I think the others will follow in that direction soon. But I love how the Software still keeps Accessories out of Frame and I'm guessing it'll only get better. The fact that they have two models at the same time makes it simpler for people who choose right then an there w/o having to wait for the NEXT Model to have something you may or may NOT want. I'm tempted to get but I just love My GO3. Now if they make a GO4 with the same tech in it, then yeah I'll trade up to this. But I'll wait. But this is why I left GoPro because of their Hardware to Software still needs improvement*

Has the potential to blow other action cameras out of the water, but DJI's Pocket 3 takes the cake in all other case uses.
Pocket 3 is a beast. now you can have something else for those few moments where you need to do crazy stunts. I've combine mine with a cheap gopro hero 9, don't need much else.
I'm sticking with my pocket 3 and GoPro 10. although the flip screen on the Ace is a major improvement to action cams.
Agreed, but the main flaw of the pocket 3 for a globe trotter as myself is the lack of a weather resistant feature. When travelling all over the world, you need protection from the rain! :)

gopro, yes! dji, not so much, they’re also innovate quite good recently, ie: the new dji pocket with flip screen! but then again, these chinese companies getting fierce with the main competitors, especially where majority are from US, and I love it!! more benefit for us as a general consumers!

It overheats easily. Especially underwater and video. Who knows? They might release a 1-inch sensor next year. Like a Pro Max or Ace Pro XL version or something. *shrugs

Hey Andrew A 1-inch sensor is generally not suitable for use in a modern action camera. Action cameras have a fixed-focus lens module. A 1-inch sensor would make the focal length longer and cause the depth of field to be insufficient. Ace Pro features a 1/1.3"" sensor that is optimized to provide the best footage for the majority of users, right out of the box.

update of my ace pro, went to the beach, im not put my camera in water but the sea water splash on my camera.. after that my ace pro audio sound like mono audio rather than default setting is stereo. later next morning it won't power up, the water gets into the camera through microphone holes.. so for those who owned this ace pro, beware to take into the water eventhough insta360 claims it water proof.. i already send my ace pro to insta360 service center, let's see will i am able to claim warranty or not.. if insta360 declined my warranty claim, i will leave this brand forever
I've heard from a few online reviews that while the demo model you sent out to creators had a removable (therefore replaceable) lens cover, the final product for mass public distribution will not. Can you confirm this, meaning damaged lens's need to be sent back to Insta360 for repair (like the X3)???

Hey Insta360, do you have a protective lens filter for your ACE Pro available or soon to be available? For those of us that ride dirt bikes off road through shrubbery infested single track this would be a very important feature. As it’s always cheaper to replace a scratched up filter than a new camera, and filters can be replaced on the fly (at location), so no real downtime at a shooting location. So if one is not available now, it might be a good addition for the future.
Hi there, sorry that we currently do not carry the removable lens guards for Ace/Ace Pro. The camera is designed with pre-installed Lens Guards to prevent dust, moisture, and other substances from entering the lens and provide better protection for the lens. With the way these are designed, they aren't replaceable.
The good news is that Insta360 is offering free maintenance for damaged Lens Guards within the first year of purchase for users. You only have to cover shipping. If you do find your lens gets damaged or scratched, get in touch and we'll organize a replacement free of charge.

One of the groundbreaking things about the Insta360 R & RS was the modularity. You could continue upgrading it over time, and it even had a 1-inch option.
In that respect, what makes the Ace anything but a step down?

Could you make it compatible with the Insta360 Flow gimbal. This helps getting more stable footage at night coz the Ace Pro footage still flickers in the Pure Video low night mode.

Ace/Ace Pro supports Garmin devices released from 2014 onwards, and these devices must support the Garmin Connect App/Garmin Connect account to be compatible with Ace/Ace Pro.
