Andy, if you put solder and wire directly onto soldering spot and then melt it, it would be much stronger connection. Solder tend to loose resin and oxidate when put directly onto soldering iron :)
Maciej Makasewicz you cant get the wire through the hole using that method. remember we are doing miniature soldering here the wires are only a few strands long, you are never going to get a good solder join, hence the hot glue. as mentioned bending the wire multiple times is your biggest worry not the solder join. this method here works perfect. the pads are too close together for your method, you will end up in a mess trust me :)
Audio was used a long time before by some antenna trackers which were sending their datas through the audio channel but must of time you had to remove the microphone on your vTX in order to have the best performance lol Great video as usual! Have a great new week Andy and take care :)
Paul Abbott haha yes indeed. check out hobbykings MWC if you cant get hold of an alien wii. doesnt have the usb port but acheives the same thing. I have one on order thx
These stepup/stepdown regulator seems to be impossible to get your hands on. The only one I can find is on Pololu but the shipping costs equals a fortune.
Hi Andy great video Im planning on doing the exact fpv setup on my PicnicQuad too. Can you tell me where FPV Hobby is located I don't see much info on the location on the site.
Andy can I just ask, do you buy these things yourself from the US? I so want to build this but import duty on the vtx alone has put me off. I'm in Ireland. Great videos btw.
+AndyRC Thanks Andy, I've taken the plunge. Last thing to order is the 1.3GHz receiver. Which one do you use yourself? Seems to be way more options for 5.8GHz.
+MicroRCFiend helical antenna isnt great for close range fpv due to it being directional. linier is fine for micro fpv as it can be bashed about. you can also but micro cloverleafs from fpvhobby.com
i don't understand why hubsan and other quad companies doesn't use 1.3ghz or at least 200mw vtx in micro fpv! it would sell like hot cakes but anyways thanks andy for posting this! just on question can you add cloverleaf antenna on 1.3ghz or only on 5.8ghz?
Hey please can you help me out a little. I recently bought an eachine h8 mini to learn how to fly and was googling fpv and found your channel. needless to say i have one simple questions because i would like to make my own similar to yours for fun around the house. Is there a link to a video where you build your quadcopter? (the one used to test the fpv outside) i did look back in your list to try and find it but i only see hubsan, not sure if its the same thing without the frame. thank you
dori_benj the quadcopter used in this video is this one ruclips.net/video/fspOeGh8Iso/видео.html an easier option is to build a hubsan based quadcopter like this one: ruclips.net/video/4vzyPGm0Ot0/видео.html and then add this fpv plate to it
+AndyRC you were one of the inspirations for the project I love your videos and I have found it so much easier to understand and get into fpv from them, thanks for all your work, plus having someone from the uk who knows a thing or two and is good at videos is very rare you are literally the only person I've come across so far
Hello Andy, I'm sorry, because you have connected the micro jst reversed? I connected the loss controller connector in my fpv hobby regulator (red in red and black in the black), but when I connected a battery lipo 1s blue ones has damaged the regulator fpv hobby. How do you figure out the correct polarity? Thanks
Hi Andy. Would you mind letting me know the total build weight (inc battery) of your Picnic H-frame with Hubsan FC? Just to know if i'm in the ball park weight-wise.. My last picnic build which you helped me with via your videos (thanks :-) btw!!) came in at around 58-60grs
tammovh 41 grams without battery same as the hubsan h107d the alien quad is heavier though 66 grams fully loaded but the motors pull 108 grams so its all good
Andy, or anyone who knows.... Someone please help. I need some help finding those little thumbnail sized 5.8g receiver modules. Super tiny rx modules usually around 25mw and requires you solder on your own antenna and channel jumpers.... I'm trying to make the absolute smallest fpv monocular all-in-one setup and I need the tiniest 5.8ghz rx possible. I can't even find the er32 receivers anymore.
thank you for replying! will this vtx work for this setup also? If not, which vtx would you recommend that is fairly cheap? www.foxtechfpv.com/ts5823-58g-200mw-32ch-super-mini-vtx-p-1454.html
Awesome video, I've watched it several times and am about to make one. Mine will mostly be for micro FPV so weight is a big concern. Do you have any experience with the new Quanum Elie micro cam? www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__89778__Quanum_ELITE_TX_CAMERA_COMBO_Micro_Cam_VTX_25mW_40CH_5_8GHz_NTSC_UK_Warehouse_.html?strSearch=quanum I'm curious to how the quality would compare to your setup.

ABMNS PRODUCTION ah yes i recall reading about that! thx for the info enjoy your week too!
Martin Mchugh you need to amend your google plus settings because currently no one is able to reply to your comments
Thanks Andy. Well done Google Plus for another randomly placed setting. should be fixed now. Probably won't work retrospectively though.
Martin McHugh yep works :)
Andy "Hot Glue" RC - that should be your channel name. Great video, Got the camera on order. I'm still trying to get an alien wii board for my build.
Paul Abbott haha yes indeed. check out hobbykings MWC if you cant get hold of an alien wii. doesnt have the usb port but acheives the same thing. I have one on order thx
Awesome flying in the house, next level for me FPV..lol
+wildhogget69 flying indoors is fun give it a try :)
Great video and solid review. Thanks for posting!
Guntar131 no problem. thanks to you for watching :)
These stepup/stepdown regulator seems to be impossible to get your hands on. The only one I can find is on Pololu but the shipping costs equals a fortune.
they have been out of stock a while which is unfortunate never had much luck with polulu ones. always give off too much noise
they have been out of stock a while which is unfortunate never had much luck with polulu ones. always give off too much noise
good video once again 👍🏻
zzeeenn thank you :)
I found this video to be very informative.
Nice video! Whats better, An Hermit 145 or an Ladybird FPV With picnic quadframe.
Hi, awesome video. Do you think this camera could be powered straight from the 1s battery? Or from a 3.3V voltage regulator?
if the source has a built in regulator the. no need for one. but direct to the battery and noise from the motors will wipe out your picture
Could you say more about the vgx? Is it the 5823 200mw? Does it come with the 'pigtail' antenna? Thanks! Noobie learning a lot from your channel!
Hi Andy great video Im planning on doing the exact fpv setup on my PicnicQuad too. Can you tell me where FPV Hobby is located I don't see much info on the location on the site.
+bamboozledguy based in istanbul turkey cheers
+AndyRC Thanks I was afraid of that now I need to locate a US dealer of the voltage regulator that you used.
fpvhobby is the only seller i beleive
Andy can I just ask, do you buy these things yourself from the US? I so want to build this but import duty on the vtx alone has put me off. I'm in Ireland. Great videos btw.
Martin McHugh Yes i Import, shipping is free from banggood always and never any taxes, same with picnicquads shipping only 6 dollars
+AndyRC Thanks Andy, I've taken the plunge. Last thing to order is the 1.3GHz receiver. Which one do you use yourself? Seems to be way more options for 5.8GHz.
there is more options for 5.8 depends on the laws in your country
+AndyRC Already bought the 1.3GHz tx. Doh!
What antenna would you recommend if using the bangood module you list please Andy? Looking for a helical but similar price range if possible.
+MicroRCFiend helical antenna isnt great for close range fpv due to it being directional. linier is fine for micro fpv as it can be bashed about. you can also but micro cloverleafs from fpvhobby.com

just on question can you add cloverleaf antenna on 1.3ghz or only on 5.8ghz?
+gamerworldmx no a 1.3 cloverleaf would have to be too big
YA I THOUGHT SO! THANKS!
no problem
Could you comment on this new camera as it compares to the 808 16? I know you there's no SD recording, but how about for just flying?
Thomas Hearne better than the 808s video out thats for sure although the 808 is no slouch either. it just doesnt have the dynamic range of a cctv cam

+AndyRC thank you very much! I look forward to seeing what you try next!
no problem :) Iv got a list of 30 videos to do so plenty to go at thanks!
I made a 6g fpv system for my micro quads which only cost me £32 for the whole system and that's with circular polarized antennas
+Ali Cooper good one!
+AndyRC you were one of the inspirations for the project I love your videos and I have found it so much easier to understand and get into fpv from them, thanks for all your work, plus having someone from the uk who knows a thing or two and is good at videos is very rare you are literally the only person I've come across so far

Emiliano Brotto u need to use a multi meter on the battrry
any of those micro voltage regulators on banggod?
+gamerworldmx no just fpvhobby and microfpv.eu cheers
Hey Andy, I am building a tiny fpv setup for my husban x4 and I was wondering if you could recommend me a good, lightweight antenna for it?
BTW it is 5.8ghz
+ewsclass66 I always use the micro cloverleafs from fpbhobby.com. they work the best.
Hi Andy. Would you mind letting me know the total build weight (inc battery) of your Picnic H-frame with Hubsan FC? Just to know if i'm in the ball park weight-wise.. My last picnic build which you helped me with via your videos (thanks :-) btw!!) came in at around 58-60grs

AndyRC Thanks. I'm going to rebuild my picnic with the 600TVL you've suggested. The Hubsan 2MP as an FPV camera is a bit contrasty for flying I find
yeah this is why i came up with my fpv plates because then you can switch for different situations
AndyRC Are you finding recently that you are preferring using a 1280ghz vTx as opposed to a 5.8ghz?
not really 1.2 is better for indoors
Andy, or anyone who knows....
Someone please help.
I need some help finding those little thumbnail sized 5.8g receiver modules.
Super tiny rx modules usually around 25mw and requires you solder on your own antenna and channel jumpers....
I'm trying to make the absolute smallest fpv monocular all-in-one setup and I need the tiniest 5.8ghz rx possible.
I can't even find the er32 receivers anymore.
regulator module- FPVHobby.com is charging $5.90 for the module then another $5.90 for shipping. No way!! Are there better options??
would a 1s 550mah lipo battery work for this system?
it is a 3.7v battery
yes it would work its a 1s battery yes
thank you for replying! will this vtx work for this setup also? If not, which vtx would you recommend that is fairly cheap?
www.foxtechfpv.com/ts5823-58g-200mw-32ch-super-mini-vtx-p-1454.html
that will be too heavy that one
Is it usable though?
Or buy an TX5805
+Leon Beekveldt there £40 this costs total of £20 makes sence if you make it yourself
+TheClioryder the tx5805 are crud
Iam 14... so i cant solder...
learn?.. its fun..
I had one alreay but now want brushless,

it was reviewed a couple of videos back go check it out :-)
