Did you see a slot for nano sim but closed what’s that for . Also compared to previous model it’s not anti theft casing . It will not be practical leaving on bike on public area possible theft. Wonder how did you connect battery to cable provided. Can you draw the wiring if possible. Especially ground to where . Also how to get a spare cable . Is this the provided properitery male/female connection for use on rainy day and type c can be used on sunny day. While in type c it used to auto power on . Did the battery connect need to manually power on . Does it come with any converter😊 24 to 12 or something. I see only a fuse in between not sure it can handle all bike battery of 13v
Ordered a C5 lite lookalike off Amazon. Excited to see how it works. If it can just display google maps and let me control my audio crap then it's a winner. As I understand. AA and Carplay wireless use bluetooth in order to negotiate a wifi direct connection and then does not necessarily need to use bluetooth which allows you to pair your headset directly to the phone. This is how it works with the AA retrofit I did in my car. AA works over wifi and my phone still bluetooths to the factory head unit. Not sure what that emit BT button does. If it means the C5 acts as middleman for your phone and headset I think that's not what you'd want to use. Definitely want your headset to connect directly to your phone.
A call out to everyone out there. I think you didn't mention this but I just got my C5 SE and realized that the touchscreen is capacitive so it does NOT work with gloves (unless you have touch enabled tips). It really sucks that a product developed for motorcycles is not suited for gloves...
I'll be honest for the price point it doesn't worry me as I set the destination before I leave and while in motion not going to be trying to press the screen while riding. With Bluetooth can you answer incoming calls on headset?
@@PissTakeProduction true but if you want to make a call while riding, or change music (something I can and usually do in my BMW wheel) is not going to happen unless your gloves are with touch tips... and if I pair the headset to the Ottocast then I loose that. I haven't installed it as I'm waiting for a plug to have the Ottocast only turner ON when the ignition is ON and not wire directly to the battery.
@@pmjcr hi thanks for your response. I also bought the unit from their website but you've talked about a Plug that would only turn the unit ON when the ignition is ON. Did you receive this plug from them ? and could you send me link to this plug ?
I just installed this on my Ducati. It all connects okay but I noticed that I connect my phone to the unit but my Cardo to my phone. Which is different to the Lite C5 unit. But then once all connected I use the C5SE to control the music on my phone. The phone and unit thru WiFi connection and the Cardo thru Bluetooth. Once I get it out on the road, out of my homes WiFi range I will have to see if it stays with those connections. I did not run the solid wiring as I am going to sell the Ducati so staying with the USB-C connection. I will go out for a ride in a few days and see how it all goes. I did look at the Lite C5 but it would have been near $100 more. I got the C5 SE at the discount price. I have been using a Tom Tom for navigation but liked this one batter as it has the full Car Play facility.
Yer I've only ridden it for the video. It can power on if not turned off properly. My bike sits on a trickle charger so I'm not worried about a flat battery. Yer I like the car play feature too. As for Cardo on the bucket list of items to get unfortunately that has to wait for me. Thanks for the comment appreciated 👍.
Moving back to Brisbane, Australia after I retire next March. Leaving my V4S Multi and am looking at the CF-Moto 800MT with all the bags etc.170HP down to 95HP. :( Oh well. But I can have a lot of fun here in Los Angeles with the 170Hp. 80MPH going to work on the freeways, way too much fun up in the twisties in the mountains, 75 in posted 50 zones. Dragging pegs, no cops, no radar, way too much fun. But I know that I can't ride like that back in Brisbane so 95HP will be enough. That's the hardest thing for me when I visit is to remember to slow down. I picked the 800MT Touring as I think it's a great deal, good motor, great features. I just had a company contact me and sending me a new unit to make a video. Yes the Ottocast still works but the new one different brand looks good too. Just waiting on delivery and video will be made. Regards Paz.

It does connect with DMC. However, my setup was Cardo connected to my phone then phone connected to Ottocast. I haven't tried connecting Cardo to the Ottocast unit's BT.
