Post your comments in this thread for the 10k subscriber giveaway video. Thank you so much. Couldn't do it without the love and support of this awesome community.
hay i'm a beginner wood worker with not too many resources for wood working, I really like your dovetail jigs and I would like to enter your contest 8-) thx
It would be helpful to see the finished product at the BEGINNING of the video along with a short demo on the use of the tool. Picturing the end product while watching the build would be very helpful to me and maybe others.
Just wanted to throw a thank you your way I was really struggling all my dovetails looked terrible I was just starting out and I was about to quit I got your dovetail guide and started turning out beautiful dovetails and that really inspired me to keep at it I cant say thank you enough
This is the best shooting board design I have ever seen. I'm making one of these as soon as I get time to. Thanks for the video hope your hand gets better.
Started following you a few months ago and love your videos. I am a wood turner and starting to dabble in flat stock and construction. One suggestion I have is at the beginning of a build video, show the final piece and what is used for THEN show the build. For example, I have heard of a shooting board but I don’t know how to use it of if I should build one. If I better understood this initially, then your build would make more sense to me and I would be more interested. BTW, I admire your precision in your work. Keep making the videos, Howard
Very versatile. At first I thought you may have been going a bit overboard. Then at the end you brought it home with the demonstrations. Thanks for the great inspiration
Fabulous tutorial once again Jonathan, you always make it easy for me to understand, even if it's not always that easy for me to do. I love the music at the end by the way.
OK, Katz, I’ll wait till you go into production :-) seriously, if you make them flat pack, there could be another adjunct , revenue stream, to go with the dove tail guides...I would buy one...!
Katz-Moses Woodworking Shop , A proposal worth considering! I could make one myself, following your excellent tutorial on the subject, but I’m one of those guy’s that wants to spend his (limited) time, doing projects I enjoy doing, rather than making utilitarian tools, ...if that makes sense?! And why have me making one😀when YOU are so much better at it!
So you had 10,000 subscribers March last year. Now, a year and a half later, you are approaching 130,000 subscribers so you must be doing something right. What I like about your channel is that it has style and always looks good. There's no reason why RUclips content should have poor production values, and taking pride in uploading slick content reflects on the core function of the channel. In fact this project is a good example - it's a shooting board, but it takes it further than any other design I have seen, and that added value makes your shop run smoother, and makes it a more enjoyable user experience. I'd say you can be quietly pleased with yourself, because you keep on hitting it out of the park. BTW I _love_ my JK-M dovetail jig.
Great project!! Looks like I have another project to add to my list of shop jigs!! Awesome job...as always!! Looking forward to seeing more of your work in the future!!
Nice work on this, bud - think I’ll give this a go. Been wanting a shooting board and the extra features and benefits of this one make me want to go for it. Keep them coming!
Hi Jonathan. I just ordered your brand apron. I would go thru all of your videos and replace the apron you offer thru Amazon with your apron. Your apron is much nicer
I am trying to design a one piece shooting board that I can CNC out of one bit of plywood or something. Yours is good but I think there is room for a lot of error. Ps. Just ordered your dovetail guides they look the best I have seen so far.
Great design! Have my Baltic birch plywood and walnut ready to start. I don't have any 3/8" plywood. Can I plane a piece of maple 3/8" to use as the piece for the plane to ride on? Love your videos. Use your stop block often on my miter saw and getting ready to try dovetails with your jig. Keep up the great work!
LOVIT, I’ll have to get started with some materials on the 11th out of my Disability Check, May take me two months tho to finish it ! Bills still got to get paid first ! Thx’s , Awesome shooting Board !
If you want to make the punched letters stand out, you could hit them with a coat of white paint (or other contrasting color), and then sand the surface so that the paint is only in the lettering.
All you had to do was ask! I'm going to have to find a set of those stamps. They're way cooler than label makers (well, maybe a tie with the old-school punch-style label makers).
I posted a link in the description as well but here you go: amzn.to/2FXHlBQ They're cheap and easy to use. Unless you need me to post an instructional video on how to use them? ;-)
Really LOVE your magnetic dovetail guide - I absolutely suck at the straight cuts, and the magnets really help. with that in mind, I like the magnetic saw guide idea as well. Any thoughts about marketing these as well? Or detailed plans for them? I imagine they would be a real labor-intense thing to make in any mass quantity. I have a Veritas Shooting plane and can easily imagine using their Shooting Board Track with this. I have a Vogt shooting board w/donkey ear, but sometimes want something a bit longer for planing long edges of workpieces. An adaption of your combination piece would work, I bet... Enjoyed the video style!
Johnathan, as a happy owner/user of 1) your 1:6 guide in wood & 2) the 1:8 in acrylic, I can easily say that your work is exemplary. With that, I have only one question; when are you going to offer the "Katz-Moses" ultra deluxe, super-duper, "All in One 45 & 90 Degree Shooting Board, Magnetic Saw Guide and Plane Stop"?????? C'mon, you know you want to....Nudge, nudge, wink, wink.....Thanks for the great content and products. Kanpai!
Great stuff!! Congrats on 10k! Love my dovetail jig. Thanks for helping me out! Look forward to more videos and products!! (I wouldn’t mind winning that sweet giveaway!!)
Thanks Devin! It's called a masking transition and it's easier than it looks. Just takes some practice. All my camera gear is in the description (those helpful affiliate links haha). I use a canon 70d which is really great for this kind of stuff.
I live in the UK and recently watched Matt estlea s video featuring your guide. I suffer from a rare central nervous illness and wondered if your guides are available in the UK as I have never been successful in making a dovetail joint due to struggling with accuracy due to my illness and really think one of your guides may be the answer and I just wondered where I can purchase them over in England?
I also live in UK. Have the dovetail Jigs and they are fantastic . I am also a spinal injury victim with limited hand and arm use and can use the Dovetail Jigs with great success
I am certainly going to purchase one. Dovetails have been the most difficult joint for me. Shaking and jerking is not a good thing when you are trying to do something accurately, it all adds to the fun though... If it was easy it wouldn't be considered such an impressive joint by many. I will keep at it until I succeed.
Hey, K-M, nice job! Wondering if you considered extending the surface the plane rides on to go past the fence? Seems to me that short extra length would keep the plane more stable through the entire cut. Also, can you share a source for the magnets? I did not see one in the list of links for your write up, unless my old eyes are failing me! Thanks!!
So when are you going to start selling them? LOL That is very cool. I have one of your wooden Dovetail jigs and I love it use it all the time. I like the clear ones got any laying around your not using I could use a new one. thanks for the video.
Awesome Chanel! I have both of the dovetail guides and I love them. It’s very cool that you are showing us some of your versions of jigs. Will you be selling any of them or any new products?
Nice Jonathan. I have to watch a couple more times. This is a timely video for me as I'm replacing the previous shooting board that I made. Hey, did you have a dupuytrens contracture operation?
Hi, can you list the music you use too please? I really like some it and would like to hear more. Love your videos, your commentary is really engaging, thanks from the UK. I also got your details from Matt Eastlea.
Cary Marshall Its a subscription service called epidemic sound that has license free music. Unfortunately it's not really conducive to listening to for pleasure. Welcome and thanks for watching
Hi Jonathan, Love your work and your channel. I see that you have a sawstop table saw but no outfeed table. I have a design that I think you would appreciate. please reach out if you are interested.
Good stuff bro! This is something i NEED to make been using handtools ALOT more this year.more gratifying..i see ya Got a lot of boxes back there @4:40;) business doing good?🍻
As you can tell by my question I am just begging to use a plane. I picked a #9 Stanley at a garage and just learning to use it. My question is: how does the top part of the shooter not get planed with the material? Love your instructions.
Can I ask ,Why use the mask only at certain times or woods , I see you have a dust collector that's Grizzly Green . Why have it if it's not working ? TY
Robinson one's for shooting and one's for cutting. The bigger ones offers more support when cutting miters. If you watch the end you'll see how they're used.
Rather than a music montage at the end a more detailed walk through of how the cutting board functions combined with some dialog would have been better.
Here's the shooting board I made....imgur.com/gallery/XK84b I can adjust it to any angle. Just did a stool with some varying angles: imgur.com/gallery/l1FFY of course dovetails thanks to the katz moses jig
Holy crap that's an engineer's shooting board my friend! What an amazing piece of art. Great work! The stool looks great too! Thank you for the kind words.
Post your comments in this thread for the 10k subscriber giveaway video. Thank you so much. Couldn't do it without the love and support of this awesome community.
Will sent me.
That's how I got here too
Nice jig. I'm going to give it a go.
hay i'm a beginner wood worker with not too many resources for wood working, I really like your dovetail jigs and I would like to enter your contest 8-) thx
Have you got any plans for it
It would be helpful to see the finished product at the BEGINNING of the video along with a short demo on the use of the tool. Picturing the end product while watching the build would be very helpful to me and maybe others.
Just hitting 10K subscribers five years ago. Man you've brought your A game to the channel. Well done. Love your work!
Your demonstration and tips are the best. Thank you.

Nice 2 years and 280000 subs more 😆 i have watch this 3 times now and the first time was when you posted this
Very versatile. At first I thought you may have been going a bit overboard. Then at the end you brought it home with the demonstrations. Thanks for the great inspiration
Richard Wright cheers my friend!
Just found you today. Great project. I'll have to look back through your videos for more inspiration!
FYI you are great at explains the "whys" of what you do. Thanks from a newbie woodworker!

Merry Christmas! Have a fantastic 2021! 🖖😊
Fabulous tutorial once again Jonathan, you always make it easy for me to understand, even if it's not always that easy for me to do. I love the music at the end by the way.
Great video and project! I need to make one of these! Love the Walnut accents!
OK, Katz, I’ll wait till you go into production :-) seriously, if you make them flat pack, there could be another adjunct , revenue stream, to go with the dove tail guides...I would buy one...!
DEAL!

@@wolfa5151 I couldn't agree enough! god I'm just not accurate enough yet to make one of these...
It's good to have you back I know you were close to the fires this summer hope all's well And love my dovetail jig
Dennis O'Shea thanks brother! It's been a rough winter. We still have to evacuate everyone it rains but we're all safe and HAPPY.
Outstanding work my friend! Love that figured walnut and how you incorporated multiple shooting angles into the same stop. Great idea!
Thank you so much my friend!

Thank you. I need one of these. That is a beautiful piece of Walnut.
Great project and really loving your videos! Good directional lighting is rare in most woodworking videos but not lost on me here!
Justin Limoges thank you sir!
Wow, your video style changed (improved) in the past 2 years! :-)
Great innovative design. Awesome video quality as well. Thanks for putting in the effort.
Steve Vlahos thanks steve!
Fantastic self made tooling. Thanks for sharing.
Great project!! Looks like I have another project to add to my list of shop jigs!! Awesome job...as always!! Looking forward to seeing more of your work in the future!!
Parawoodcreate thanks bud! I can't wait to see what you create!
Mind boggling. I wish you sold those!
Great job. Another shop item that I will need to make. Well shot video. Hope the hand feels better soon.
Matt Loignon thank you so much. Got the stitches out today. feeling good. Cheers!
Nice work on this, bud - think I’ll give this a go. Been wanting a shooting board and the extra features and benefits of this one make me want to go for it. Keep them coming!
Anthony Fidram thanks my friend! It's a great addition!
Hi Jonathan. I just ordered your brand apron. I would go thru all of your videos and replace the apron you offer thru Amazon with your apron. Your apron is much nicer
Big fan of the dovetail jig and great video
Thank you so much for doing this. It is now added to my list of things to complete.
My pleasure my friend!
Good explaining while we're watching. Thanks!
Wood Tools Workshop my pleasure!
Great combination!
Ian Forsyth thank you sir!
Such a great design, heading off to eBay to hunt me down some magnets now! Thanks for posting.
Nice work!
Really nice design:)

Andrea's Workshop cheers!
Quality work, thumbs up Johnathan
OG Timbercraft thank you Mr Garciaa
keep up the good work
If you want to make the punched letters stand out, you could hit them with a coat of white paint (or other contrasting color), and then sand the surface so that the paint is only in the lettering.

$20 for the full set is awesome! I would have expected them to be much more expensive. Thanks!
You always come up with some awesome ideas! Keep up the good work and you’ll hit that 10k in no time!
Dimensionswoodworks thanks brother!

thank you sir!
Hope the hand gets better with the surgery. Reminds me of Ray McKigney.
I feel like I need to make one now!
You do!
Such a good video, dude. You have stepped your game up for sure!
SimpleCove thanks so much Sean! Means a lot.

Night Dawg Thank you!

Jani Kumlander thank you!
Really great project. Got you a new sub. Thanks.
Great video, I'll have to add this to my ever growing list of cool tools to make lol. :D
willow514 thanks bud. It's a really fast build
Very nice job.
Thank you my friend!
Oh baby that transition at 2:44! Great video with good footage and clear concise informative instructions!
What kind of camera do you film with?
Thanks Devin! It's called a masking transition and it's easier than it looks. Just takes some practice. All my camera gear is in the description (those helpful affiliate links haha). I use a canon 70d which is really great for this kind of stuff.
You found these instructions clear? It was a good video but more of a wham bam thank you ma’am kind of thing. I’d love to see see written plans!

Linked in the description now. Thank you so much!
Perfect! Many thanks
No need given that the cut happens in the first 15% percent of the plane.
@@katzmosestools Also, wouldn't the extra length be cut while using the saw? P.S. Have the dovetail jig and stop block . Great accessories!
good job
Just ordered one of your dovetail cutting guide. Please reply with a link to videos that show how to use it properly. Thanks!
Check out the playlist on my channel entitled Make something collaboration. Cheersa
What inspired the design for the dovetail jig and what made you decide to pursue as a business venture?
SE Collectiv oooooooooh that's good. Definetely going to be in the Q and A video! Thank you!
So when are you going to start selling them? LOL That is very cool. I have one of your wooden Dovetail jigs and I love it use it all the time. I like the clear ones got any laying around your not using I could use a new one. thanks for the video.
Peter Karpovich hahaha thinking about it.
Hey! Jose.
Here's my question. How the heck do you only have 15,000 subscribers ???
49k now
melikes the pair of push stick/shoes you use, like an extra pair of hands, the one I made is a bit too clunky
Awesome Chanel! I have both of the dovetail guides and I love them. It’s very cool that you are showing us some of your versions of jigs. Will you be selling any of them or any new products?
Clinton Bradley I've got something really cool in the works ;-) thank you!
Do you have a resource for those calipers?
Nice Jonathan. I have to watch a couple more times. This is a timely video for me as I'm replacing the previous shooting board that I made. Hey, did you have a dupuytrens contracture operation?
John - I have...on both hands. Do you have questions or have you had the same?
Still have no idea what a shooting board is for or why I need one.
Love it always struggling with my board it’s too bulky time for another one , are there plans available ?
Not as of yet. The table is 12 x 18. Is there any other measurements you need? Thanks so much bud!
Pretty cool(understatement)...cheers..rr
Thank you so much (understatement) my friend! Cheers!

Hi Jonathan, Love your work and your channel. I see that you have a sawstop table saw but no outfeed table. I have a design that I think you would appreciate. please reach out if you are interested.
just wondering how long these last, wouldn't using the plane on plywood wear a groove over time?
phantm24 I've had my old one for 3 years and not even a scratch through the clearcoat. Probably will last longer than me.
It doesn't wear down because the plane's blade doesn't go all the way to the edge of the plane's sole.
I would have liked to have seen how you actually use to shoot a 90 and 45 degree trim or did I miss it
End of the video

Katz-Moses Woodworking Shop thanks I might give it a go.
Good stuff bro! This is something i NEED to make been using handtools ALOT more this year.more gratifying..i see ya Got a lot of boxes back there @4:40;) business doing good?🍻
Joe Basement Woodworking & DIY thanks bud! Have to be prepared ;-)
Katz-Moses Woodworking Shop yesirr! And early congrats on the 10k bro! Much deserved
As you can tell by my question I am just begging to use a plane. I picked a #9 Stanley at a garage and just learning to use it. My question is: how does the top part of the shooter not get planed with the material? Love your instructions.
magic? You'll see it just works baby!
Can I ask ,Why use the mask only at certain times or woods , I see you have a dust collector that's Grizzly Green . Why have it if it's not working ? TY
No rhyme or reason. Just forget sometimes
Nice
You can always spot the AvE fans out of the crowd. (Skookum)
no_connectivity super skookum!
Or those who read comments by AvE fans.
Double Dare Fan absolutely
I always keep my stick in the rice
Yes, but he doesn't use skookum in the right context
I don't quite get it. Why do you have two of the Walnut pieces? Why is one large and one small?
Robinson one's for shooting and one's for cutting. The bigger ones offers more support when cutting miters. If you watch the end you'll see how they're used.
Rather than a music montage at the end a more detailed walk through of how the cutting board functions combined with some dialog would have been better.
What’s a shooting board. How do I use it?
Watch to the end. I do a great demo.
What are the magnets for, did I miss that?
Watch the end
Great idea :) ॐ
Thank you!
The first song has a real no rain by blind melon feel to it
Totally
Here's the shooting board I made....imgur.com/gallery/XK84b I can adjust it to any angle. Just did a stool with some varying angles: imgur.com/gallery/l1FFY of course dovetails thanks to the katz moses jig
Holy crap that's an engineer's shooting board my friend! What an amazing piece of art. Great work! The stool looks great too! Thank you for the kind words.
Where are the prints at?
"By the power of Grayskull!"
Interesting version of a shooting board, the others I've seen have been a lot more simplistic
I love to make things complicated hahaha. But seriously it's a great tool and very useful.
You trying out new things it's what made this particular video interesting so keep it up ;)
Dv8_NO thanks bud!
LOL at 7:29
and the magnets... for what?
